Famous evangelist and humanitarian Franklin Graham issued a dire warning recently about the so-called “Equality Act.” That’s the deceptive title affixed to a radical, Democrat-sponsored measure that will, if passed, impose the LGBT agenda on all Americans.

Writing in Decision Magazine, Graham announced that the misnamed “Equality Act” will bring “catastrophic consequences” from which the “nation may never recover.”

Reverend Graham is absolutely right. It’s impossible to overstate the extreme danger this bill poses to our freedoms.

The “Equality Act” extends federal protections to include, for the first time, both “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.” That puts homosexuals on par with African-Americans or women as a protected class under federal law.

It’s an LGBT dream come true — and a wrecking ball to religious liberty.

The implications are ominous because the bill forbids raising religious free exercise as a defense to the LGBT agenda! The “Equality Act” requires people who believe in Judeo-Christian values to embrace what the Bible calls sin.

House Democrats unanimously passed the measure in May, and it now awaits Senate action. So far, 47 senators, including one Republican, Sen. Susan Collins, have signed on in support.

The son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, Franklin Graham warned that, if the “Equality Act” becomes law,

“Christians will be persecuted for their sincerely held beliefs as never before. The clear teachings of the Bible on the sins of homosexuality and abortion will no doubt be considered ‘hate speech.’ It will be a nightmare from which this nation may never recover.”

If passed, the “Equality Act” will declare war on your freedom and mine. Let me get specific. Under the bill . . .

• Churches would be forced to host same-sex ceremonies.
• Counselors will be gagged from giving professional help to those facing unwanted same-sex desires or actions.
• Religious adoption agencies will be required to place innocent children in homes with adults involved in same-sex conduct.
• If churches or religious organizations take overnight trips, including sports or mission trips, they cannot segregate rooms by biological gender.
• Biological men will have access to bathrooms, showers and nursing-mother rooms at any time, and stay as long as they please.
• Churches would be forced to hire staff involved in LGBT conduct, even positions of authority in affiliated daycare classes and give them complete access to all children in the restrooms.
• Cross-dressers could demand that they be greeters, ushers, Sunday School teachers and more.
• Even the smallest slight would give someone the legal right to sue a church. For example, if someone assumed he was turned down for a staff position because of his LGBT lifestyle, he (or she) could sue the church for damages, even if that was not the reason he was denied the job!

The top seven Democrats running for president have all endorsed the “Equality Act,” reports the Daily Caller. Joe Biden said he will make this wholesale assault on religious freedom his top legislative priority.

Our freedom hangs by a slender thread. If the presidency changes hands next year and Democrats pick up more seats in the Senate, the "Equality Act" could quickly become law. And that will unleash unconstitutional chaos in our land.

Now is the time to make our voice heard! It will take a well-informed, fierce and prolonged grassroots outcry from friends of freedom like you and me to kill this legislative Frankenstein—to drive a stake through its heart and ensure it does not return to stalk the halls of Congress again.
