(FOX40.COM) — Spring in the Sacramento Valley has been filled with clear skies and sunshine over the last few days, however, a stormy change is in the forecast.

Beginning on Friday, ‘the cooldown begins,” according to FOX40’s chief meteorologist Adam Epstein. On Thursday, it was 82 degrees in the Sacramento Valley, but by Friday, it’s forecast to drop to 55 degrees.

“I know some people do enjoy the colder weather and have the foresight to realize that eventually it’s going to be stifling, so to have temperatures in the 50s -you’ll appreciate it,” Epstein said.

Breezy gusts of wind up to 25 mph are also expected.

Saturday

Rain is forecast to hit the area by Saturday.

“There will be a solid soaking of up to an inch of rain in the Valley,” Epstein said.

He added that the foothills could see over an inch of rain, and between one and five inches of snow in the Sierra. Thunderstorms are also on the radar.

“Early morning plans on Saturday – not looking great. I’m sorry if you have anything outside at that point,” Epstein said. “But in the afternoon it does look a little bit better.”

The brunt of the storm will be around 7 a.m. and scattered showers will follow towards the afternoon, according to Epstein.

Sunday

The weather on Sunday is forecast to have a temperature of 63 degrees with a slight chance of rain.
