- Who says you can't find anything good in the Amoeba clearance section in 2023? $3 and record is in VG+ with a VG cover!
This record SOUNDS fantastic. I know the hits, looking forward to learning the deep cuts. (So far Born Loose is a bop!!) referencing Foot Loose & Fancy Free (LP, Album) RVLP 5
An album mixed by Andy Johns, produced by Tom Dowd cannot be bad. The legendary Phil Chen got a writing credit. John Mayall plays harp. Carmine Appice brought his sticks and a beat or two, plus You Keep Me Hangin' On... A couple huge singles.
It is an album that still sounds great today and has not dated at all. Critics? Well... critics did not like Led Zeppelin's early albums. Critics are not to be taken seriously, not in the late 60s and the 70s at least.
I keep going back to this album. It is well-thought out and all musicians put their hearts and souls in it.- I’ve never seen a record with both the booklet and the inner sleeve. The copy I have came with a plain white inner-sleeve and the booklet. I know it’s the original inner because the jacket, booklet and inner all have a hole punch in them. Were they actually sold together with the album? I’m sure they were, but it would make some sense if they weren’t.

Trying to figure out what I have. BSK-1-3092 JW 6 and BSK-2-3092 JW 11. The middle of the disk doesn't have the palm tree image though. Just a big WB Records logo at the top and Grayed out WB Records logo in the background. Anyone have any thoughts?- Edited one year ago

Should the Italian releases come with printed inner sleeve or just the booklet? referencing Foot Loose & Fancy Free (LP, Album) BSK 3092
Variant 1 side 1 matches my side 1 but my side 2 is close but has LW6 which is Los angeles pressing instead of JW3- Why no love for this or really any of Rod's records? This one is a real banger, great soundstage and balance overall. Not to mention great songwriting and energy. Diverse songs and instrumentation.

An underrated album. The singles are so well-known that the idea of hearing them again may not appeal to everyone but in the context of the album as a whole, they sound surprisingly fresh. Care was taken in the making of this record. The key songs are beautifully played and very, very carefully sung. The contrast with the casual way the same songs would often be sung in concert later is stark. This assessment is quite contrary to the record’s reputation and that of its singer at the time it was released - it has never been very highly regarded (the 1980 Rolling Stone Record Guide would describe the record as “not truly awful”). Critics and public alike could not reconcile Stewart’s public image and what they thought they knew about his private life with the content of this record. Perhaps stung by the negative response to this album, Stewart would not lay himself open the way he does here for another 36 years. One might even say that the two albums that followed it were an attempt to cover up what was revealed here and to fuse the recording artist and the public persona. The original issue CD has very nice open sound and is recommended.
