So excited to watch Fool's Gold. Had no idea it was filmed in Key West. Did it cause a buzz during filming?
Not one second was filmed here.
It was filmed in Australia - small clip about that in this weeks US, just saw that a few moments ago. wierd coincidence.
That's so funny. We're watching that movie this very minute. Well, my husband is and I'am surfing on the internet. I was just telling him I thought it was funny that they were claiming that it was Key West when the island they're showing has a bunch of mountains. It could have been most any other island, so I don't know why in the world they would say it's Key West :-)
We watched it last Tuesday. When they started mentioning Key West we got excitied - until the showed the island they were calling Key West. We said "what?". Yes, it was a lush mountainous island they showed - with other mountainous island in the background. Plus the courthouse scene with those different trees - I was like that isn't even Key West either! It was crazy! I guess they got some sort of production incentives from Austraila or something?
Anyhow - we referred to it as "fake Key West" throughout the whole movie. It was a cute movie other than that! Seems like they would have or could have changed the story line up to where they were on a different island that maybe looked more like what the one they were calling Key West.
I suppose that in addition to asking "where's the beach," people are going to start asking "where's the mountains."
Your "sorry folks, you can't see the mountains because of all the cruise ships" pal,
Davy
