Gidget is a white Pomeranian and a main character in The Secret Life of Pets and The Secret Life of Pets 2. She also plays a starring role in the mini-movie Super Gidget. She is owned by a couple who live in a modern apartment near the Apartment Building.
Gidget is voiced by Jenny Slate.
Appearance
Gidget is a white, fluffy Pomeranian with big blue eyes, little pink ears, short feet, little paws, and a pink bow on her head.
Personality
Gidget is very bouncy, and tries as hard as she can to make sure nobody is affected badly from her words (unless they really have to be). Her age is presumably 2 to 3 years old (16 to 20 in human age) based on her personality. She is shown to be very loving and concerning for Max and others, though she can be very tough sometimes; as shown when she is almost caught by Tiberius and Ozone refuses to tell Max's whereabouts.
Also, Gidget is able to beat up dozens of members of The Flushed Pets easily. Even Derick, a crocodile who is much bigger than her, stood no chance against an enraged Gidget.
Plot
The Secret Life of Pets
Gidget lives in an apartment in New York with her owners that she rarely leaves. Gidget has a crush on her neighbor Max, who she avidly watches from her apartment window. On an autumn day, Max goes on a walk with his new roommate, Duke, and all the other apartment dogs. However, Max and Duke are captured by an Animal Control officer opposite the street to her window. In her apartment, Gidget gathers the other pets to tell them Max is missing.
On the rooftop of the apartment building, Gidget meets Tiberius the hawk and tasks him with searching for Max. With her promise of becoming her best friend if he helped her, Tiberius agrees and delivers Ozone from the alleyway they went missing in. Gidget harshly interrogates Ozone for more info. In her apartment, Gidget gathers all the pets of the block to form a rescue team and return Max to the apartment before all the owners return at dinnertime. To aid their search for Max, Gidget and the rest of the apartment animals search for Pops, an old dog who knows the city very well and can quickly guide them as they track him down.
After travelling through the alleyways of Manhattan and reaching the sewer system, Gidget hears Snowball talking about Max and tries to defend him, causing The Flushed Pets to chase the apartment pets in order to pursue Max, but they have only captured Norman the guinea pig. Nevertheless, after the pets escape from the sewer to the Community Garden, she decides to restart the rescue plan so they continue. While Max and Snowball try to save their friends by joining forces, the rest of the Flushed Pets try attacking Max misunderstanding him by having Snowball in his mouth but at that same moment Gidget defeats them with the help of the other apartment pets in order to defend Max. While Gidget is fighting the Flushed Pets, Max gets amazed by Gidget's moves in slow-motion and he begins to fall in love with her.
After Snowball and Max successfully save Duke and arrive to the street of all the apartment pets, Max admits to Gidget his love for her after seeing her defend him on the bridge earlier that night. Max also apologizes for not noticing her before. Gidget licks Max overjoyed, but the two are confronted by Pops muttering "Oh great, you're in love. How gross for everyone else."
She gets back to her apartment before her owners are back. Later, her owners have some sushi as dinner while Gidget, acting as a princess, is given a cup of dog cookies, so she licks her owners with joy.
The Secret Life of Pets 2
Gidget was tasked to take care of Max's bee toy while he is gone. She accepts to take care of the toy and she tells Max how cute his bee toy is. She also thinks she and Max are a couple and have the bee toy as their child, Max is at first uncomfortable with the idea but later on warms up to it, hinting he might be also in love with her now. While dreaming of her and Max later in the afternoon, she loses the toy and it lands on a cat lady's apartment filled with cats. She asks help from Chloe to help retrieve the bee toy. She does learn how to act like a cat and is able to get the toy back. Gidget sees Snowball outside Max's apartment and questions what he was doing there in which he responds to "nothing". He then asks her too what she was doing at the cat lady's apartment and both of them agree to keep it a secret. Snowball and Max then ask Gidget for assistance and goes to help Max and Snowball. She then gangs up with the cat lady and her cats and then including her friends. They were able to rescue Max at the train station when he, Snowball, Daisy and Hu were about to be shot. Max and Gidget then welcome each other back and embrace. They then return to New York and everything is back to its usual state.
Super Gidget
Gidget just came from her wild adventure when Mel calls her and Max asks for help when he was being taken by a squadron of squirrels. She then goes to the place where Max is taken, and finds Infestor, who wants to take over all the dogs in the city, including Max. She must then save him from the evil Infestor before he's taken over too. She manages to save Max from the Infestor when he got controlled by him, Max tells her she is incredible, and the two of them go over a balcony near the bridge and Gidget draws a heart using laser at the moon. Just as she and Max were about to kiss, Infestor comes back, and vows to take revenge on both of them, Gidget is yet to defeat him, when it was all just a dream and her owners woke her up.

- She was named after a fictional character in a graphic novel, Gidget, the Little Girl with Big Ideas, by Frederick Kohner.
- The network Gidget's owners use is Xfinitiy X1 which is a product endorsement for a real-life network ads and pictures, she is described as "50% fluff and 110% tough".
- Gidget is voiced by Jenny Slate, who also voiced Assistant Mayor Bellwether, from the 2016 Disney film, Zootopia.
- In a early storyboard of The Secret Life of Pets it's shown that Gidget was orginaly going to be some kind of popular dog, giving signatures to posters with her picture in it.
