Ratropolis[edit]

Well, whoever searches for "Ratropolis" in the search, it links to this article, Flushed Away. However, Ratropolis is the working title for this film. [1] --PJ Pete

Why is there someone who goes around labeling every Rotten Tomatoes reference as unsourced? Rotten Tomatoes is a source. DavidJohns 07:30, 7 November 2006 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No idea. Maybe they're looking for something to do beside launge in their box.

no budget numbers?[edit]

seems the heinous 149million dollar budget should be mentioned. its the reason for the aardman dreamworks breakup. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=flushedaway.htm

"but it would have been too expensive to composite the shots including water, and since the story involves a lot of it, they chose to go all CGI. "

too expensive? it cost 149 million!!! talk about flushed away..

this website says that the actual production budget was $90 million. It seems that the 149 million figure is the "total cost" and includes a number of other costs such as marketing, etc. You know, it makes me kinda happy that this CGI film wasn't as cost-effective as Aardman's previous films. It seems that it's proven now that stop motion costs MUCH less than CGI and is a better investment. Hopefully Aardman will go back to doing stop-motion films now. Is Roddy a mouse?[edit]

It sounds bizarre since he's the same height as Sid, but my kids were insistent that Roddy was a mouse not a rat. Well lo and behold, according to the official web site he's a mouse. (Go to the official web site http://www.flushedaway.com/flash/index.html and click "View Source" on your brower's menu, and see the in text: "Roddy is a decidedly upper-crust society mouse who lives the life of a beloved pet in a posh Kensington flat.". So unless the movie actually calls him a rat, the article should change to say he's a mouse. Rocksong 23:44, 15 January 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Strange but true. He looks like a rat and is the same size etc but all the sources I can find such as the DVD case, the official web site and other sites giving a synopsis of the film such as [2] refer to him as a mouse. Also when the family has left he says "When the cat's away, the mice will play." —Preceding unsigned comment added by MarkBarl (talkcontribs) 08:06, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Roddy and Rita in love?[edit]

I think Roddy and Rita might be in love. There was a small scene in the movie that was in slow motion when Roddy and Rita stared at each other and a love song was playing. In another scene Roddy and Rita were having dinner and the slugs sang a love song. Also in the end of the movie if I remember corectly Roddy almost kissed Rita, but Rita's grandmother interrupted.4.167.214.75 23:40, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Actually, all he was doing was dancing with her. Then that psychotic grandmother (you know, the one who is obsessed with Tom Jones?) jumped him. Then he had to force her to kiss a slug, forgetting Rita (the supposed love of his life) entierly until the end of the film, where she said, "Where are we going?" to which Roddy replied, "I don't know, but we're getting there really fast!" However, if you look on FanFiction, about 99.99% of the stories include Roddy and Rita falling in love, as does the Flushed Away Ultamite Handbook. Therefore, it is impossible to tell. Incorrect conclusion, but obvious[edit]

The following is in the triva section;

"During the World Cup Final sequence, a rat with a Texas accent and ten gallon hat asks where the helmets and quarterbacks are, before finally stating that "these Brits don't know how to play football!" This is a reference to the stereotyped lack of American interest in the World Cup."
I can assure you that this is the wrong conclusion. The scene actually refers to the tendancy Americans have, of medding in the affairs and traditions that exist outside their borders. This mainly due to the need to make everthing in the world more "American". If you don't believe me then just ask anyone who isn't American / the writers of the scene.(82.43.189.130 17:53, 6 February 2007 (UTC))Reply[reply]

I've lived in both England and America, and from my experience the end would be referencing the fact that americans don't pay attention to football/soccer and don't view it as the real thing. They think american football is the only type of football. I've had many debates about this I assure you. Barr13 03:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, uh...I highly doubt it, sadly. Ever since DWA and Aardman split. IncrediVi 01:23, 6 July 2007 (UTC)IncrediViReply[reply]

Well, there is no inkling of s sequel. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gnmng Jreck (talkcontribs) 15:17, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, yes, DreamWorks and Aardman have split, but the good news is that Aardman took all their movies with them. What does that mean? It means that the sequel wouldn't HAVE to be between DreamWorks and Aardman. In my opinion, I sure hope the rumors I've heard about there being a sequel are true, because there's more story to tell, that's for sure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sb113 (talkcontribs) 13:35, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

DVD[edit]

the dvd poster seems like a refrence to THE JEWL OF THE NILE case

Disney characters?[edit]

I don't know for sure, but the main characters in the movie look somewhat familiar to a couple Disney characters. JustN5:12 23:53, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Really now? ive seen the movie alot so looks like a disney character on there?

Error[edit]

At the bottom of this page, it lists this film as a dreamworks stopmotion film with Aardman. This film isn't stopmotion, its CGI.

Playstation?[edit]

It's listed on the Playstation 2 list of games. Why does it link to here? My guess is it's *going* to be a game but it isn't yet. Should the link on the PS2 list be removed until it actually IS a game?Chovynz 01:49, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well...........I'd leave it be until we hear any actual proof. IncrediVi 01:25, 6 July 2007 (UTC)IncrediViReply[reply]

Rita based on Lara Croft?[edit]

I thought this was an obvious reference, the way the hair sits and jumper colour etc. She also mimics Lara Croft when descending from the high pipe early in the picture. Nobody else seems to have mentioned it but should this be added as a cultural reference? --Danny Darko 22:29, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Possibly, but Rita is not Lara Croft (proof here).

Error in characters (Liam Malone)[edit]

Liam is not emo, as he just wears a black shirt with the name "bubonic Fever" on it. I think it clold be a heavy metal band. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.212.230.250 (talk) 00:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Asking to include only Paramount Pictures as the film's distributor on the infobox, as it's the way that appears not only on the poster, but in the film's credits: "Distributed by Paranount Pictures".
