A gaming sub free from the news, hype and drama that surround current releases, catering instead to gamers who wait at least 12 months after release to play a game. Whether it's price, waiting for bugs/issues to be patched, DLC to be released, don't meet the system requirements, or just haven't had the time to keep up with the latest releases.

Riders Republic is worth it for this guy

I've let the sales simmer and skate edition to come down. Always saw bad reviews that edged me away. Well I've had a few weeks to settle on my opinion and it's not a bad game at all. As someone who came from the beginning of the genre, and whos identity is built around 90s punk and videogame culture. I remember when every athlete had their own game. It's like we wrapped all of them together and made a Forza: Horizon style game around the idea. The only thing lacking is the music selection. Not that there are bad picks. Just not the same vibe as the classics. (That's hard to think about)

Anyways, 8/10. The world feels lived in, the difficulty tweaks are great. Some collectible/exploration bloat, but what do you expect from an Ubisoft Game. All of the fun stuff you want to find is manageable though. Able to collect all of the "toys/funkies" in a day or so without a guide or asking the internet.

As a sale item, I recommend the buy. Obviously don't pay full price for the complete edition. Xbox/ubisoft just started a "upgrade" program and I was able to pick up the game for cheap a month or 2 ago, then the "complete upgrade" was good for owning the base game. I just wish some of the xbox reviews saw that.

It's a great game to just bum around in a bit, especially if you don't have a ton of time. I can jump in, do a few events, and it's always a good time.

Fun game. I always liked Steep and didn't pick this one up until it was really cheap and came with the DLC. Lots of stuff to do or just cruise around and see the sights. I like being able to start at the highest peak and eventually make my way all the way down to a Moab type of desert. I'll pick up the Skate add on eventually.

This game was a ton of fun. I really liked trying to unlock all the vehicles and getting to freely switch mid ride

I picked this game up yesterday

I got thrown into the world and I didn’t know where to start

What you reccomend starting doing? Is there like a career mode type thing?

Each sport has a career mode. You find the markers with yuki(?). She gives you a quick tutorial and cuts you loose. After that you get more event markers for completing new events.

Each sport has about 10-15 events. Then after so many, sponser events are unlocked. These use more than one type of gear usually

I agree! When it comes to Ubisoft games, I’ve learned to just ignore the loudest user reviews and get the games when they’re on sale.

I also grew up with New Girl and May 16th bouncing inside my head all day long while at elementary school welcoming the new millennium, and while Rider’s Republic doesn’t have any of the soul those games had, it has its own identity which I’ve learned to appreciate. It’s over the top, it’s cringey but not the kind that puts me off, it’s fun and as you’ve said, it’s pretty much the Forza Horizon of ActivisionO2/EA Sports BIG. It’s bloated full of stuff to do, and it’s genuinely a great time when you’re in the mood for what it offers. I also liked that unlike most Ubisoft games, the difficulty of some events is a genuine bitch.

I particularly enjoyed playing the game with a dub/reggae playlist of my own.

Yes, Spotify playlists with some of the ol' SKAter hits.

Lagwagon is OG af. Throw in some Hot Water Music, some Flatliners and Propagandhi and it's lit.

Maybe some hip hop too.

I saw Lagwagon at the first warped tour back in '95 at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ. That whole lineup was stacked.

I am envious on another level.

I was a diaper crapper still

I hear that. I was just talking about warped tour with some young coworkers of mine and they didn’t believe me hat warped tour was around in 95. lol

I wish they just updated it more frequently. Its such a good game but feels like missed potential sometimes

I am enjoying the long boards they just added. 😎

Waiting on the off road ones

Honestly.... If they added Quads and Dirt bikes... that would be a complete roster of vehicles.

Had fun with it for a good 6-7 months. Used to love skate- & snowboard games and RR def scratched that itch for me. It was fun unlocking the gear and like you said, I didn't really need a guide to do so, which was refreshing. PvP had its issues & normally I don't like PvP, but grinding to eventually get 1st in a Mass Race was a highlight of my gaming career.

I'd prolly go back to RR if I felt like playing a sports game again. Def a good one to get on sale.

It's pretty good. At first I thought all the people riding around were 'live' but then later realised they were mostly ghosts of other people's playthroughs. Still pretty cool to see everyone though.

For sure. Only what? 30 people are actual players.

Still a great concept. You can turn it off in the settings.

Instantly felt lonely
