‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ Officially in Development at Blumhouse and Universal

The terrifying horror game phenomenon becomes a theatrical franchise, with the second installment from the studio behind ‘M3GAN’ and ‘The Invisible Man’ set to hit theaters Fall 2025.

At Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, you’ll always get the killer treatment – twice. A sequel to Five Nights at Freddy’s is officially in development from Universal and Blumhouse, according to Deadline. The spine-tingling news was recently revealed by Universal President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution Jim Orr during the studio’s CinemaCon presentation last week.

The first live-action adaptation of the terrifying game followed a troubled security guard during his time at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be a walk in the park.

The film starred Josh Hutcherson (UltramanThe Hunger Games franchise); Elizabeth Lail (YouMack & Rita); Piper Rubio (Holly & IvyUnstable); and Kat Conner Sterling (We Have a Ghost9-1-1); with Mary Stuart Masterson (BlindspotFried Green Tomatoes) and Matthew Lillard (Good GirlsScream). No word yet on new or returning characters, or what the creeptastic plot may be. The film’s iconic animatronic characters were created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, with VFX by Fin Design + Effects and Scanable.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 stalks theaters Fall 2025.
