Located in the heart of Melbourne, Fitzroy Gardens add to the city’s claim to being the Garden City of Australia. Within 26 hectares (64 acres) of the gardens, you will find Victorian-era landscaped lawns and avenues lined with English elms, unusual fountains, and flowers. Visit Captain Cook’s Cottage, the former Yorkshire home of the English captain who discovered Australia. The cottage was shipped and reconstructed stone by stone in 1934. Nearby is quirky carved Fairies’ Tree, a 300-year-old stump embellished with pixies and kangaroos. As you stroll through the gardens, stop at a replica Tudor village. Walk the People’s Path, a loop walkway paved with 10,000 engraved bricks. Keep your eyes open for possums and ducks. Gardens are well maintained and an easy walk from Park Hyatt. Visited the fairy tree and miniature village, which was looking a little dated, needs lights and some signs. more »

Amazing Gardens. Just love the open spaces, yet private little hiding spots for kids to play. As a photographer, I am always on the look out for new spots! I am so glad I had the opportunity to capture a family session here. It was a perfect place for family photographs or even a wedding! Photos by Nikko Blue Photography

Quintessential garden in the heart of the city. Lay under a towering tree and listen to the birds as they swoop overhead. A truly magical spot in Melbourne. Cooks cottage and the conservatory are a must-see! 👌🏻✅

Great parkland to explore on a lazy sunny day. Minutes walk from the city with hidden gems throughout. There are toilets and water fountains around ther park. There are some historical sites inside as well as large open lawns, gardens and water features. Made to enjoy.

It's a big green park. There were park benches and a cafe. Nice place to roam around and relax. Dogs are allowed on leash. Parking is paid. There's a tram stop right outside.

It was a lovely way to spend Australia Day wondering the gardens. So much to see. Happy families listening to music. Lots of food and items for sale.
