In tonight’s Fire Country episode, the Lazarus Fire was spreading thousands of miles. There was a chance it might come to Edgewater. The firefighters there were put on high alert. Some even felt they should cancel their annual Firefighter’s Ball. Sharon Leone refused to cancel. They have a lot hanging on the party.

The Governor was coming. He was going to be schmoozing with his biggest donors. They needed to advocate for the Three Rock program. The Governor was shutting down the prisoner fire camp because she thought it was too much of a headache. They were some that felt the prisoners didn’t deserve a second chance and she wanted to combat that notion.

Sharon knows that Bode doesn’t do well back at prison. He almost died the last time. She wants to keep him on the road to recovery and the only way to do that was by keeping him at the camp. She was a big believer in second chances. The prisoners sold that by slowly turning public opinion.

They’ve saved lives. They help people and so some of those people were now rooting for them. It’s just a shame that the Governor couldn’t see that. She was focusing on being liked rather that doing the right thing.

Eve wanted to change that. She had the prisoners volunteer at the ball. They were going to be the waitstaff. They were also forcing the Governor to see them as people.

Eve wanted everything to be perfect and sadly nothing in life is perfect. The Lazarus Fire was spreading. There was also a situation with an uninvited guest. Gabriela’s mom had come to the ball. She heard about it from Diego. Diego thought it would be nice if Gabriela saw Roberta before the wedding day. He thought he might cut the tension.

Diego told Roberta about it. She didn’t ask him questions or get back to him. Thus he too was surprised when she showed up at the ball. Roberta was a lot to handle.

She knew Manny struggled with addiction and she still had him running around getting her drinks. Roberta also claimed she wanted to spend quality time with her daughter. She tried to get close to her daughter and she was told in hundreds of ways that Gabriela didn’t want her there. Gabriela has been preparing to talk to her mom at her wedding.

She wasn’t ready for an ambush. She didn’t doesn’t know what to say to her. Manny had been kind when he spoke of Roberta. He knew he let her be the bad guy a lot while Gabriela was growing up because it made things easier on him only he didn’t hide the fact that Roberta walked out.

She walked out on the both of them. Roberta could be selfish. She could be cringe. She ran into Jake who was running an auction table with Genieve. She figured out he was Gabriela’s ex and she took him off to be gently questioned about everything.

Manny and Roberta were young when they had Gabriela. They weren’t ready to be parents. Manny’s struggles with addiction didn’t help and so he went to prison.

He eventually got out. When he did, he didn’t find Roberta waiting for him. She got an education. She started working. She left him in charge of Gabriela while she took herself overseas. She sent money back home. She paid for everything. It just wasn’t enough for a little girl. She felt abandoned. She thought her mother didn’t love her.

This was why Gabriela ran from her mom the first chance she could. She heard that Vince was running late to the ball. She told Sharon that she’d stop by the house and get him.

She ended up finding him passed out on the floor. His heart rate was all over the place. He was suffering from prolonged tremors after getting electrocuted. He got looked at when he was at the hospital. They couldn’t find anything wrong with him. He thought he was fine and Gabriela thought he was hiding symptoms. She agreed to keep his secret as long as he was taking care of his health.

Which he wasn’t. He was ignoring it. Gabriela agreed to check on him and she found near death. She had to shock him to get his heartbeat back and she also demanded that they tell Sharon everything.

They were talking while Roberta was getting the full story. Roberta learned that Gabriela broke up with Jake for Bode. Manny tried to warn her to stay out of Gabriela’s business. He and Roberta eventually started making out. Roberta then went back to grilling Bode. Bode told her that they both hurt Gabriela in a lot of ways.

He reopened a wound she left. He now just wants Gabriela to be happy. It didn’t matter if he had to lose her and keep his distance. Roberta saw for herself how much Bode loves Gabriela.

She told him to never say never. She didn’t think Gabriela would ever contact her and she did. Gabriela could be quite forgiving when she wants to be. Gabriela herself showed up at the ball with Vince. Vince got Gabriela to keep quiet about his condition. He wants to keep fighting fires with his son while he can. And it turns out that the Governor wasn’t against keeping Three Rock.

It was Luke who pushed for it to be shut down. Luke’s friends and family all heard that. Manny took him to task for what he did. He now knows why Luke didn’t want him on camera.

He was a success story of Three Rock. Luke was always planning on closing down the camp. He never cared about the prisoners or even Bode. He was a horrible boss. He was even worst uncle. Manny called him out in front of everyone. They got into a fist fight. It got broken up. It also led to a fire getting started around the food display. Vince put out the fire. Bode saved a man’s arm.

Then Bode advocated for letting them help with the Lazarus Fire. The Governor could see that they needed this and so she agreed to let them go. She will probably keep Three Rock around now. Luke was cutting it to make room for something else in the budget. He had taken over from Sharon and Sharon was regretting that decision.

And Roberta told her daughter to choose wisely because she’s about to make a decision she has to live for the rest of her life.

THE END!
