So i just watched the movie: Fear and loathing in las vegas. In the movie, they take lsd, mescaline, coke, some pure mescaline and an other one of which i cant remember the name. I was wondering if any of you could relate to the trips we see in the movie cuz i know words can hardly define a trip. The only drugs i took were, weed, speed and salvia ( which i loved!). Any help?
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The thing when he's trippin on Lucy and people eyes are shiftin about their face is definitely true for me
Is it on Netflix? If so I'll watch it and reply to this I've tried the drugs you listed. If not, give me like a day and I'll download the movie.
You haven't seen Fear and Loathing!? wow. I would suggest the book first. It is such a captivating book that you can read it in about the same time as you would watch the movie.
I'd also recommend reading the book before the movie. They're both great
I actually think watching the movie is better first. Movies are never as good, and I find when I watch the movie second I get annoyed at how they change it.
The moving patterns on the floor in the hotel are great. The moving face as well. However when shit starts turning into monsters it's more salvia than LSD.
One thing he uses in the movie is Adrenochrome, which is supposed to be adrenalin straight from a human body or some shit like that, that is the mother of all drugs. But according to erowid, it is most likely not even psychoactive. But most of the other drug "visuals" were pretty similar.
Also, Ether.
So adrenochrome exist for real?? How much does it cost do you think?
Its made up....it doesn't make you trip. After one of the screenings for F&L, somebody approached Thompson and told him how accurate his depiction of adrenachrome was. Thompson didn't have the heart to tell him it wasn't a real drug. true story
If I remember correctly, did he say that adrenochrome came from the pineal gland? Because that's where DMT is meant to be produced (I know that hypothesis has little/no evidence), but maybe that was what it was referencing? Just a thought
No, that's what I thought at first, but they say it's from a human adrenal gland (and IIRC, Elijah Wood's character says something about a stolen adrenal gland later).
No offense to you, or mr. thompson but it is most definitely a real drug. 3-hydroxy-1-methyl-5,6-indoline-dione exists It is controversial however, and it is debated over weather or not it is psychoactive in humans. But just because something doesn't "mess you up" doesn't make it a drug.
"In the DVD commentary, director Terry Gilliam admits that his and Thompson's [adrenochrome] portrayal is fictional"
Didn't mean that the compound doesn't exist. Just meant it doesn't really make you trip like that. It's neurotoxic and on the same playing field as epinepherine.
From an erowid trip report:
Price: Most labs sell D,L-Adrenochrome(CAS:56-06-8) at 70 to 100euros for 250mg. But I recently found another chemical supplier selling a product named 'Adrenochrome' at 110euros for 50g, the price difference is so huge that I first though it couldn't be the same compound that other suppliers were selling, but CAS number was 56-06-8 so it was definately the same Adrenochrome. Such a price difference seems strange to me, I thought maybe it could be one of the two enantiomers (instead of the D,L form) but this wouldn't be logical as separating two enantiomers is complicated and therefore one enantiomer alone should be more expensive than the DL form, and certainly not cheaper.
Hunter S. Thompson, the author of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, portrayed the use of mescaline in a very accurate way. He him self loved mescaline.
