Useful and enjoyable way to cross the river
Nov 2019
A very enjoyable trip. Great service at a fair price. The staff was super nice. We accidentally dropped a phone in the boat and they carried it to the ticket office at Alexandria, so we could recover it. We are so grateful to everyone who was involved in that.

Great service
The water boat taxi from DC to Alexandria and National Harbor was a fun day. The staff went above and beyond for a handicapped passenger with a super unusual high tide. Kudos to the staff.

Indoor and outdoor seating provides an area for every type of passenger in every type of weather.

A wonderful way to get across the river, see some sights, enjoy the cool breeze and let someone else do the "driving."
Couldn't have been more convenient - pick up and drop off points are perfectly situated. The crew was very professional, helpful and friendly.
We will definitely take advantage of the taxi again.

From the wharf to old town Alexandria
On a hot and steamy Saturday night in August this was just the ticket for some cooling down time and relaxation with views you can't see unless you're on the water. A bit pricey but that's to be expected when you are in a tourist area

We love the water taxis!
Aug 2019
Such a beautiful, convenient way to get out & about in D.C. We took the Wharf water taxi to Alexandria, and later the Alexandria to Georgetown water taxi. Both ran on time and allowed us to have drinks while watching the scenery go by. Best way to travel, in my opinion!

Lovely river ride
Aug 2019
We are a family of six and wanted to go on the boat from Alexandria across to the Wharf and back again later on. The Potomac Riverboat Company had an easy to use website, were on time had nice staff, and provided us all with a relaxed trip both ways.
We took advantage of the free tram in Alexandria and the free Southwest buses up to the Mall so it was a great day of transport.
The children all really enjoyed the boat ride. You can sit in or out, front or back.

Smooth sailing.

We took the ferry from the Wharf to National Harbor. The boat docked briefly in Alexandria to let-off and take-on passengers, but this is a quick stop. It was 10 minutes max. If you wanted to hop off in Alexandria and tour for a bit and then hop back on to continue to National Harbor, you would have to wait for a later boat. The boat has some concessions- canned sodas, beer, water and candy. There is an upper deck and a well air-conditioned interior with ample seating and a bathroom. There is also some outside viewing on the bow near the captain. We were in DC for vacation and were using public transportation. This was a great way to see the city from the water and explore some of the cities on the outskirts. On our return trip, there was a fireworks show at the Wharf. This delayed us pulling into dock by about 10 minutes but was such a treat. One of the best fireworks shows I have ever seen since we were right under it on the water. The only area in which there could be improvement is the ticketing. There was a different ticket for each leg of the trip, there and back ,and you have to assign the rider name to each ticket. There were 5 of us so that was 20 different tickets. It confused me. The employee usually just scanned one and waved everyone through. Seems like one barcode per person might make things simpler.

A Delightful Alternative for Transport in DC!
Aug 2019
I was totally delighted to experience the Water Taxi service in DC this past weekend. My daughter and I selected this option to travel to and from the Wharf to the National Harbor entertainment areas to attend the Water Lantern Festival. The ride was scenic and refreshing on the open top deck. We had efficient and comfortable transportation to the event but some delay returning due to unforeseen circumstances by the Coast Guard on the waterway. But considering the large community event at the Harbor, it was understandable! Once we boarded the Water Taxi to return, our ride was very pleasant for a beautiful summer night! I would choose this transportation again!

Clerk at Wharf Pier in Washington was ignorant, rude and downright nasty
May 2019
Tried to resolve an issue with a prepaid round trip ticket I had purchased and clerk refused to resolve it EVEN THOUGH the management said she should. I was on the phone with her manager who said she should do what I asked and she would not answer her phone nor get on my phone with her manager so they could authorize the change. Long line of commuters waiting and she DID NOT care. Commuters complained that she is nasty and inconsiderate as well as not knowledgeable all the time to them on a daily basis also. Truly an individual with a BAD attitude who should not be in that position. Never had an experience where an employee would not listen to her manager!!! Made for a poor experience for me and others! Her superiors should correct that situation if they want people to use their service.
