Anita Gates New York Times Television now seems crowded with so many alien species with meaningful cultural characteristics that we hardly need any new ones, but ''Farscape'' has its pluses. Mar 18, 2019 Full Review Alasdair Wilkins AV Club What Farscape deserves tremendous credit for is being willing to take a giant leap after ten years of other shows-The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine very much included-taking small steps in this direction. Apr 18, 2018 Full Review Marc Bernardin Entertainment Weekly Mix Voyager, Buck Rogers, and the Muppets and you get this engaging, if familiar, new actioner, which commences Sci-Fi's "2.0" makeover. Rated: B Apr 18, 2018 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... more than space opera and pulp adventure. There’s huge cultural gap between the crew of six motley fugitives who band together to survive, all with their own (often clashing) agendas. Sep 9, 2023 Full Review Scott D. Pierce Deseret News (Salt Lake City) The scripts pale in comparison to the look of "FarScape" -- but they're not bad. The show does have possibilities, although it appears destined for cult status. Mar 18, 2019 Full Review Charles Webb MTV Farscape somehow took hold of viewers in a very particular way, thanks to clever writing, engaging and frequently complex characters, and a constant thread of the bizarre and off-kilter to keep you riveted. tee r One of the best tv sci-fi shows of all time. It is a hard sell in the beginning. It starts off slow and takes quite a few episodes for the characters to develop. This show is so worth the journey. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best shows of all time. A wonderful blend of sci-fi, humor and stellar acting that's does the "ragtag bunch of misfits" trope well before it was the "cool" story device. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member So pleased to have caught up with this show which I had never heard of before. No stuck up idealistic irritating characters-Star Trek Discovery comes to mind- just fun and lots of action with some serious drama from a great cast of characters. Scorpius has my vote as the best villain ever onscreen. If you like BSG and Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy you'll love this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It takes a while to get going but once the actors hit their stride there is no holding them back. Everything about this show is original and enchanting; every frame is pure beauty! The stories are fresh and engaging; this is storytelling at its best. The actors all have an amazing chemistry - unlike anything I have seen anywhere else. This show has action, adventure, romance, comedy - you name it, you will find it in Farscape. Add the Jim Henson Company quirkiness, and get ready for a great ride! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The show is ether a hit or miss for you.The first 10 episodes feel like a slug but latter on the show switches in higher gear. The problem becomes the pacing of the show once you look at the season one overall. Also the show is somehow in consistent (spoilers ahead) the distance/time of the setting simply does not add up.Just for reference the Gammak Base episode in season one, they put out a wide range distress/message to Crais ship only for him to show up 2 scenes latter on.Simply put the "lost in space" and how big it is falls apart from that moment. And it starts to add up.They have all this tech and they are able to ress them self from dead time after time, yet they dont have a Galactic star map to navigate with/integrate onto the ship?like really..There where episodes trying to establish why it's that way,but really they all fall flat(the Frankenstein scientist lab rat episode) once you start to see what they are capable to do and analyze whats being played out infront of you just cant believe it. If you are not taking it to serious and take it as humor/wacky like show and you are entertained it is then a 3 star series, and thats not bad especially if you are into space opera genre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Can't believe it's taken me this long to finally watch Farscape. Classic sci-fi, great story telling, fantastic characters.
