Dance legends in the making!

In the technologically advanced world that we live in, people have access to content in a way they never have been before. Thanks to social media, the dance community is growing larger every day. With the amount of exposure dancers and choreographers are getting now, there seems to be a plethora of amazing talent out there, however, some stand out to me more than others. Being a choreographer myself, I had to think long and hard about the individuals that I included in this comprised list. After much consideration, I selected a list of choreographers that not only are amazing at composing a sequence of dance moves for a performance, but are impactful individuals as well. Without further ado, I bring to you the Top 10 Celebrity Hip hop Choreographers of the decade! Lets get into it!

10. Robert Green

Robert Green is a choreographer from Raleigh, NC. Green got his start in the arts by way of music however his after traveling and training in Hip hop, Ballet and Jazz, Green was noticed by some of the industry’s top choreographers. Green then traveled and assisted industry legends such as Laurianne Gibson, Brian Friedman, Tabitha & Napoleon D’Umo, and many more. He has toured with Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, The Weekend, Mary J. Blidge, Pitbull and more. Robert Green uses his extensive background in music to enhance his student’s musicality, stage presence, and overall star quality. His style is over the top and truly unmatched. His star-like demeanor is what makes him stand out above many.

09. Sienna Lalau

Sienna Lalau is a dancer and choreographer from Waipahu, HI. Lalau is only 18-years-old but she is a mighty force to be reckoned with. She is best known for her recent win on NBC’s World of Dance with her crew The Lab. Before her fame, she began teaching dance classes at the Creative Arts Ministry at only 11-years-old. Her hard hitting style is electrifying and captivates audiences world wide. I really can’t wait to see how she evolves in the next 10 years.

08. Kaelynn “KK” Harris

Kaelynn Gobert-Harris, affectionately known as “Kay Kay” has been dancing since the age of 5, mostly self-taught with a natural dance ability that can only be described as a gift from God. Los Angeles Native and original member of the 8 flavahs dance crew, Kay Kay has become a house hold name. Later in her life she trained under some of the industry greats such as: Brian Friedman, WilldaBeast & Janelle Ginestra-Adams, Tricia Miranda, Matt Steffanina, Hollywood and more. Kay Kay’s high energy, and attention to detail is what makes her stand out above the rest. Her precision, musicality and style is unique and unmatched.

07. Matt Steffaninia

Beginning his dancing career at 13-years-old, Matt Steffanina is the world’s most popular dance choreographer on YouTube. He is the executive producer of Dance Tutorials Live, which is one of his enormously popular YouTube channels. He teaches mostly to advanced students but also offers beginner tips, tricks, and classes. Also an incredible videographer, Steffanina has definitely paved the way for many in the technologically advanced stage of the dance industry.

06. Tricia Miranda

Emerging into the Los Angeles dance industry in 2001, Tricia Miranda established a unique and innovative form of dance expression. Immediately becoming one of the top female dancers in the country, she also went on to become one of the most sought after hip hop instructors and choreographers. She has performed at many award shows with A-list artists and choreographed for artists such as: Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, J-Lo and many more. She even choreographed the Super Bowl Halftime Show for Missy Elliott! Miranda truly is a queen!

05. Hollywood

Jose Ramos has worked with the best of the best in the industry, earning the nick name “Hollywood” also mentoring and training some of the current dance sensations in the industry like Kaelynn Gobert-Harris. Hollywood’s unique dance style consists of sharp, short range movements steadily transitioning in texture from smooth and fluid to sharp and darting. His groove is what makes him stand out against the rest. Hollywood is definitely one to remember.

04. Les Twins

Larry and Laurent Burgeois “Les Twins” have been an eye catching duo since 2010 on the World of Dance stage. In addition to teaching their original choreography in workshops around the globe, they are also the founding members of the successful dance team Criminalz Crew and founding members of “Eleven Paris”. This million dollar duo has incredible musicality and teamwork which make them such an amazing pair. From their performances with A-list artists like Beyonce’, Jay-z, Missy Elliott,J-Lo , and more, their choreography is always fresh and gives dance performance a whole new meaning.

03. Sean Bankhead

Atlanta Georgia native, Sean Bankhead is known to be instrumental in building new artists with his creative movement and direction seen in the careers of the OMG Girls, Fifth Harmony, and now Normani, all the way to now choreographing for the Queen of creative visuals Missy Elliott. Bankhead continues to push the limit and goes above and beyond industry standards and norms. Bankhead’s unique style makes me want to get up and dance every time I see his choreography performed. As he continues his journey as a choreographer, I can’t wait to see what he creates in the future.

02. Parri$ Goebel

Parris Goebel is a New Zealand-born choreographer, dancer, singer, director and actress. Her dance crew The Royal Family has won the World Hip Hop Dance Championship three times. Goebel has worked with artists including Ciara, Little Mix, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and many more. Goebel’s originality and unorthodox approach to traditional movement is extremely entertaining and leaves audiences wanting more.

01. WilldaBeast & Janelle Ginestra-Adams

William (WilldaBeast) Adams is a choreographer from Indianapolis, Indiana. His iconic choreography to Beyonce’ and Jay-Z’s “Upgrade You” sparked the social media dance video era. He’s performed and choreographed for many of the greats and has been a pivitol influence in the dance community. His wife Janelle Ginestra is a top-tier choreographer as well. Her concepts are unique and her movements are pristine. Together they have built companies Imma Beast and Imma Breath. These companies have brought so many dancers together and has created a unity in the dance community that has been refreshing. At their studio Imma Space they have a safe area for students to pray, meditate and and take time to themselves. Along with their mantra “Find your why,” Janelle and WilldaBeast Adams are hands down the best choreography duo of the decade.
