I have been going to this Restaurant for many years but of late the wait staff has been dismal at best. The waitress's are more interested in chatting with each other then paying attention to the customers. Today we had to wait 15 minutes before...a waitress even came over to the table. She finally came over to take our order's after that we never saw her again. We all wanted refills on our drinks we had to flag down the hostess to get the drinks. When we were done we needed to go boxes again she was nowhere in sight so we had to get them ourselves. The last time I was here it was a different waitress but basically the same thing happened. There are 2 sisters that work there and they are very good attentive without being in your face. The food is excellent but the service is awful, I think they need to re-train the waitress's.More

All around great family type restaurant. Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Always has daily specials at reasonable prices. Meal sizes are plentiful and delicious. We have tried various sandwiches at lunch time, full size meals and/or salads at dinner time and have always been extremely...impressed and satisfied with the quality of food and the service. We pass by this restaurant a lot, and went here many years ago. It seems to have been renovated since then, and is clean, well lit, and appears very well maintained. The parking lot usually has a spot available (can be tight sometimes), and the...location is on Lowell Street in Peabody, which is a major thoroughfare between Peabody and "West Peabody." Breakfast was on our minds and there was just about something for everyone on the menu. We ordered an omelet sandwich and french toast. The food came pretty much when expected, and the overall serving size is average. There was an enormous lump of butter or butter-like substance on the french toast plate, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. The food was overall okay -- texture was good, portion size good, prize was wonderful (less than $20 for two people to have breakfast, with coffee that kept on coming). But what stops us from giving more stars is what was missing: flavor. We have seen the 5 star ratings, and the 1 and 2 star ratings, and our experience is not consistent with either of the two. The service, facility, etc. are good and do not warrant a lower rating in our opinion. Quality of the preparations are good. Again, what made it miss the mark for us was just the fact that the food was flavorless to us. Our recommendation is that, if you are looking for a place to fall into for coffee and conversation and a bite to eat, and you aren't looking for foody-food or deeper breakfast flavors, and this is along the way or close to where you are or where you're going, you will be very happy with Family Fare and there is no reason to go anywhere else.More

Breakfast is wonderful, lunch is great, love their b.l.t. sandwiches, early full size dinner is really good and there is plenty, usually take some home for a later snack, help friendly and fast.

Tasty breakfasts, wonderful lunches, and huge menu of delicious meals in evening. Food is fresh and well prepared. Huge portions make take home inevitable. Staff is friendly and accommodating. This is not a plush restaurant; it's all about the excellent food. The place is often...packed with regulars, including us. And if there does happen to be a wait, it's worth waiting!More

I have been going to Family Fare for years, and i have to say.. one of the best restaurants out there if not the best. i love the food, it is quick, tasteful, and always fresh. Breakfast is with volume and very affordable. The hungryman...is one of my favorite, and the omlets are great. Whenever there is a family gathering, that is the place that everyone wants to go. my kids love it, so does my husband and everyone else. The place is great, very inviting and comfortable. it is always clean, and so is everything else. Also last but deffinetly not least, the service is great. The girls are always so nice and smiley, and polite. I love Family Fare.More

This is a very bad place to go eat breakfast it has changed a lot. They have new waitresses now and the service is so slow and seems like no one speaks English anymore. Very unprofessional and rude waitresses especially the hostess who has no...idea what she is doing. She changed our table 3 times without even apologizing. Coffee took forever to come we were served breakfast then coffee which tasted like water and no coffee at all. I used to go every week in here but i think they changed management now and the new waitresses are just a horrible combination. The worst of the worst was when i went in the bathroom and i saw in the kitchen one of the cooks was scratching his back with a big fork and then he hanged the fork with the clean ones. That was discussing. This place should definitely get rid of the current stuff and gain its place among breakfast options.More

Went there Sunday Morning about 9AM. The location is nondescript, but when you find it, it is a treasure. A few tables with wo to four folks. A center table of what I suspect was a troupe of "irregular" senior gents - nine of them....We were six adults, two small children and an infant. My daughter had arrived before us, so they already had a place for us. I saw two or three servers (counting greater) and a busboy. They kept apologizing for being "slow", but all I saw was a busy place with two BIG groups. Staff was excellent. And the food! Between the crew of us, had two different kinds of Eggs Benedict (Irish with hash and "Arizona", onions, mushrooms and spinach on a Portuguese sweet roll), one omelet with kielbasa, pancakes, and more. It was all fabulous. Folks kept coming in, staff all over keeping everyone served. Have never eaten here before, but will DEFINITELY seek them out my next time there. And the bill? Under $100 for all of us!More

First time at this restaurant as we were visiting the area. The service was good and the food was freshly cooked. The portions are way to big and rather off putting having so much food on a plate, we left half our meal but noticed...people took their leftovers with them.More

I sometimes have breakfast there. I always get the "hungryman special", bacon/sausage/eggs/toast/pancakes/fried potatoes. Food is excellent, good service. Big locals place. Only weird thing is they don't seem to like it if you read the paper while eating.
