Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on the margins of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Capri and thanked him for Italy’s leadership of the G7 during its presidency. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Tajani condemned Iran’s unprecedented attack against Israel. They discussed shared concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the urgent need to protect civilians, the response to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, and the importance of preventing further escalation in the Middle East. They also discussed efforts to increase support for Ukraine against Russia’s aggression.
