Our stay here was part of a trip reward I earned for hitting sales goals. We had 4 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The basics: The bed was great, the room was quiet. The bathroom is the smallest we've seen in a long time but everything was functional and in good shape. Only 1 sink in a room with 2 queen beds. All the staff we encountered were GREAT. Courteous, genuinely happy to have us staying with them. Wil at check in not only checked us in but also gave us a quick tour of the property. We experienced great service at breakfast and dinner. We ate at the bar for breakfast as there was no table availabel. The bartender was very attentive (forgot his name, sorry). Estella was our server for dinner and she was great. We both got a massage in the spa and the facilities and therapists were great. For the last night of our stay we got upgraded to a gold room for $125. Worth it! We got an upgraded room on the 9th floor. Same size but definitely nicer furnishings. Access to the club lounge for breakfast, snacks, drinks and great evening appetizers and desserts. Makes sense if you're going to be around the property enough to make use of. One of the best club room experiences we've ever had. If you need a rental car Avis is literally next door. From this property you can walk to a number of attractions in the area including the Vancouver Lookout.

I'll start with the not so good and end on a high note. The biggest disappointment was the ground floor level of the hotel. The ambience of the ground floor is more like being in a hotel located in a shopping mall rather than a first class hotel experience. There is no grand living room/lobby for hotel guests to gather or relax in. All seating areas on the ground floor are in hallways leading to the luxury label stores that occupy the window areas facing the streets or overlooking the motor court entrance at the back of the hotel. Even the good sized restaurant and bar feel more like areas designed for the general public than areas devoted to the hotel guests. Another disappointment is that the whirlpool spa in the glass enclosed pool area was removed during the latest renovations.

On the upside, the deluxe king room we were given in the 6th floor was spacious and nicely decorated in a traditional style. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom, which had a walk in shower but no tub, was on the small side, but did feel upscale, and there was a walk in closet area in the vestibule. There were nice touches like a nightlight in the bathroom and a motion sensor light in the closet. There were tea and coffee making facilities in a cabinet that also contained liquor and soda stocked in a small refrigerator that had no room in it to place any items brought by guests. The reception personnel we encountered were gracious and accommodating.

I probably would not stay at this hotel again because of my dislike of the ground floor' public areas.

It is always a pleasure to stay at a Fairmont but I particularly love staying at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver! They have always make our stay incredible! From their prompt service to Covid friendly policies they made our stay feel safe and well thought out.
The linens and towels/robes and views as well as the gym and pool and room service were wonderful. We especially loved hearing the church bells from the church across the street.
We initially booked this trip to spend time with family for my daughters sweet 16th trip. The front desk sent up chocolates for her when we checked in. It was really thoughtful.
They were also very accommodating when we decided to extend our trip, add another room and move to adjoining rooms when my husband surprised us by joining our trip.
I do however have to give a few notes about things that could use improvement. The front desk initially told us to only use our parking pass ONLY to get out of the hotel. But that was not the case and a nice valet came to help us out of being locked in the garage for a few tense moments for our family. It was a minor detail but it should be laid out more clearly because everyone in our party heard the same instructions upon check-in.
Secondly, the pool should be closed for cleaning as there is grime in the sides of the tile and whatever is in the water gave my oldest a reaction so she could only swim for a short time. Also, I didn’t see any sanitization of the pool deck furniture between uses. These were all minor issues but something to be aware of.
We will no doubt stay again preferring this hotel to many in the area. I even convinced my parents to switch hotels and join us here for a few days because of the wonderful service and the history of the hotel.
I am already planning to return next year and even though my husband wants to stay at the another nearby Fairmont I am partial to this hotel. We stayed in the Morningside suite before it was renovated and it made me fall in love with this place. It is the most beautiful hotel in the most beautiful city in the world. If you have the occasion to do so, treat yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

Bedding is terrible and extremely uncomfortable. Woke up with excruciating pain. Please update your beds and pillows and maybe not charge $11 for cutlery for guests ordering outside your hotel menu that only had 9 items on it half which were kids items.

i was lucky enough to get an amazing room on the fairmont gold floor which is the 9th. room 955 was perfect and very well appointed with a separate living area facing out with 2 large windows onto burrard street. historically this part of the room would have been an enclosed balcony, now sealed off with two windows, but still retains its charm hanging on to the two original french metal doors that can be closed if needed.
the king bed was very comfortable with a pillow menu if you desire something to lay your head on, whether firm to soft. the bathroom is a good size with it's marble walls. this room is also dog friendly as with all the rooms which of course has a pet fee of $25 for each night (cheaper than most motels) and pooch will get his/her own bed, treats and bowls for water and food.
the lounge was excellent with food and an area to relax if needed during breakfast.

Due to COVID, we had last minute change in travel plans and required a one night stay in Vancouver, with the ability to work remotely the following day. This was a fairly stressful situation for myself as we navigated other travel changes - car, flights, work schedules. The hotel is currently running a 'Canada Residents Offer' which included late check out (up to 5pm), room upgrade and free parking, that we jumped on. I normally stay at the other Fairmont down the road when in town but I was pleasantly surprised by the updated décor, location (right next to all the shops), the historical property, and superb service at the Hotel Vancouver. Upon arrival, Rushdy was incredible in working with me to determine the best room to suit our needs with both my husband and I planning to work remotely from the room the following day. His can-do attitude and patience were very calming. We stayed in a one bedroom suite and my stress level changed instantly the minute we walked into the room. The room, located on the 5th floor, was spacious, clean and sanitized, renovated, and (the most important part) had two separate areas (living room with a desk/bedroom with a vanity that worked as a desk), divided by a door. It was the perfect atmosphere to get work done and not be distracted by each other. The late check-out was a bonus and allowed us not to have to leave the room all day looking for places to get work done. We're all adapting in this new normal but I would not hesitate to book this hotel and suite again on our next visit.

My family and I just spent 6 days at the amazingly well located Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. We fave been frequent guests for many years at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, but have not stayed at the Hotel Vancouver for over 25 years. We delighted to find the service at the Gold Floor to be above all expectations. The team of well trained and friendly staff offered excellent suggestions, and I might add seemed to get dinner reservations at sold out restaurants with ease. The hotel rooms on the gold floor were spacious, well maintained, and impeccably serviced twice a day. For our family, staying at a hotel that gives daily, or twice a day housekeeping service put our mind at ease especially during the pandemic. We highly recommend this hotel for excellent value for money, but service that is far beyond expectation

After watching a promotion to encourage local customers, my wife and I decided to try the "Hotel Van". Unfortunately, the reservations number given was an answering/booking service which not only wasn't interested in answering any questions about the Hotel or any Promotions offered. Further and coupled with extremely poor English, the reservations attendant didn't even know which city the Hotel Vancouver was located in !!! Huge disappointment, we were really looking forward to staying here as well as our attempt to help stimulate the local economy. Suggestion for future travelers: Do not use the generic booking service, call the hotel direct.

The Vancouver Hotel is at one of the anchor points in the downtown core, located at the corner of West Georgia & Burrard, streets which have long been two of the city core’s most important routes, both for across-city access & for the businesses located along them.
It has a long history, built early on in the past century by Canada’s Railway Company, which built a number across the country in the Chateau-style, exhibited by the VH.
In the some 100 years of existence, VH has gone through a number of renovations, most recently of its foyer, lounge & bar area, readying itself for the new mood of the 2020s.
I have had a long & variety history with the hotel since immigrating to Canada; the first of which to set up a bank account at the Bank of Montreal, which then had a branch within the VH building. The VH has a number of high-end retail shops on the ground floor, with windows facing Georgia or Burrard, for passerbys to window shop, if that is still a thing in the 21st century.
In those early days, my husband & I would pop into the bar when we could, where many of the bartenders have served for decades, often learning interesting facts about the city.
Then I discovered one could use the pool on the top deck for a small charge, &, as an avid swimmer, was up there in a shot in the months when the Kits Pool was closed especially, usually with my close, artist friend, who lived close to the VH & liked to dip. It was a nice, mostly quiet, place for us to swim, lounge & bounce ideas.
Another discovery was that the VH had ballroom dancing at the weekends, with Vancouver legend, Dal Richards, & band providing music to practice one’s steps, or to show them off, depending on one’s level of expertise. I had talked my husband into taking some ballroom lessons together, happily provided literally step from our home at U.B.C.’s family housing complex in which we were living while I was doing a PhD. I thought we may be ready to try out our dancing skills, which we did, on a Valentines’ Day, spending the night at the hotel & ending with a full English breakfast. VH serves breakfast, brunch, lunch & dinner, in its 3 different eateries, ranging in food offered & mood.
I also had the opportunity to glimpse the internal workings of the VH when a client of mine was running events at the VH, so as to obtain results for a dissertation he was doing..Hotel operations ran like clockwork, with staff always helpful & friendly.
More recently I have popped in for a nibble & drink as the bus I catch to visit my family in Ucluelet lets me off at that corner. There is a good taxi rank behind the hotel & bus stops close by on both streets. A good spot surely to visit once it reopens, as it, like many hotels, has closed for now in the face of the pandemic.

We have had the afternoon tea at almost all the Fairmonts in Canada and were looking forward to the one in Vancouver.
We were so disappointed with the service as well as the tea. I understand that due to COVID, the room had to change. They could have worked on the ambience a little harder. It was a conference room with standard tables with white table cloths, set adequately apart. Nothing royal about the ambience, it was not 5-star and definitely not royal. No table or room decorations at all.
The tea spoons were missing and the milk for the tea was cold. For a traditional (read royal) tea, the milk has to be warm. By the time the milk was warmed and the spoons arrived, the tea had become cold. What a disappointment!
They did accomodate the dietary restrictions and the scones were wonderful. The sandwiches were excellent so the food was the saving grace.
Lastly, should the servers not be smartly dressed for a Royal service? I suggest the administration looks at the tea service in Banff Fairmont to understand real royal service, Fairmont style.
Overall, I would not go again and pay extraordinary amounts of money for an average coffee shop type of service.
