Having completed Thor: Love and Thunder, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is gearing up for future projects, like the Extraction sequel for Netflix, and he's putting in serious work to get in shape for it. Hemsworth posted a video on Instagram of his workout routine for Extraction 2, and it involves a series of exercises focused on functional movements, agility, strength, and speed, as opposed to pure heavy weight training like he's done in the past for other roles.

"Give this little work out a go and let the lungs scream for mercy!" Hemsworth said, tagging his fitness brand, @centrfit in his post.

The routine involves three minutes of hitting a bag for cardio, 50 squats for lower body, 40 sit thrus for mobility, and pushups. You can see the full rundown of his workout routine below.

Chris Hemsworth Extraction 2 Workout Routine

  • 3 minute boxing round (cardio)
  • 50 squats (lower body)
  • 40 sit thrus (mobility)
  • 20 reps for each (core) exercise
  • 25 push ups (upper body)
  • Rest 2 minutes 4 sets in total

Extraction is Netflix's most popular original movie of all time, reaching 99 million member households in its first four weeks. As announced previously, filming is scheduled to begin this year, pending any interruptions from COVID.

Director Sam Hargrave--who made his feature directorial debut with Extraction--is coming back for the sequel, while Avengers director Joe Russo wrote the script for the sequel after penning the first one. Whether or not Extraction 2 will be a sequel or a prequel remains to be seen. Anyone who has seen Extraction knows that it ends with a very ambiguous tease for what might happen next.
