Available on Netflix

An international crime lord hires black-market mercenary Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), to rescue his son from the clutches of dangerous men. The mission takes Tyler to the foreign darkened underbellies of Bangladesh where drug dealers, traffickers, criminals, hitmen and danger are in aplenty.

Sam Hargrave’s directorial debut Extraction had garnered global popularity months before it hit the popular streaming website Netflix. Needless to say, this global action movie is the “it” movie of 2020. This dramatic action film had a lot of expectation and it met them with ease.

Extraction is “the” film if you’re looking for a little entertainment – the action scenes are intense and quite frankly the best of modern cinema, visuals are explosive, Chris Hemsworth is a dream come true with his brooding stare, dark emotion, and raw magnetism and the premise is unexplored and unchartered which makes it all the more delicious. The movie wears the genre of “action” like a glove and will leave you satisfied far after the credits have rolled.

Jackson) who threatens to obliterate mankind in an ode to preserve Mother Nature.

Matthew Vaughn’s magnum opus Kingsman: The Secret Service comes in the disguise of a slick sophisticated action film and don’t get us wrong it is all that but also so much more.

A 130 min wild ride the movie has all the makings of a great movie – the sharp twists of a spy flick, unfiltered violence to quench any action lover’s bloodthirst and mockery of the said genre while celebrating it.  Fresh, original and unique the movie is hands down one of the best action spy thriller movies of recent times.

With a preset so moving you’re bound to find yourself invested in the story but the plotline plays tricks of its own to keep you enraptured. The movie is based on Vince Flynn’s books and has at least 15 more novels however we are probably never going to enjoy them again on the big screen. Might as well take full advantage of the adaptation we did get.

The Expendables

The church plans to overthrow a ruthless Latin dictator with the aid of a group of mercenaries. Roped in the mission, the soldiers decide to give the mission their all even if it means risking their neck. Sylvester Stallone’s passion project The Expendables became a raging success among action lovers in the summer of 2010. Such was its popularity that it gave rise to a whole franchise and a video game too.

Packed to the brim with A-list stars, this testosterone-fueled action movie is all about explosions, big guns, hunky men, mindless violence and fast-paced action scenes. Make the most of this movie by going on a movie marathon inclusive parts II and III.

With an unprecedented attack from the outside and a snitch in their midst, tensions run high and things get bloody. This 1992 crime-action directed by Quentin Tarantino has reached somewhat of a celebrity status and has a devoted cult following and rightfully so.

It has been firmly established that no one does action and violence like Tarantino thanks to his many successful and highly acclaimed movies but his introduction to Hollywood with Reservoir Dogs is still hailed as one of his best works. If you are on the lookout for a no-holds-barred action movie and can handle a lot of blood and gore, there’s no better alternative to Reservoir Dogs.

The A-Team

The A-Team movie poster.jpg

Available on Netflix | Amazon Prime

Based on the 1980s television series of the same name, The A-Team follows the adventures and misadventures of an elite group of operatives lead by Hannibal Smith (Liam Neeson). Falsely incriminated the team goes on a bender to prove themselves innocent and scurry to capture the real perpetrator.

Hot on their heels is Lieutenant Charissa Sosa (Jessica Biel) who is resolved to capture them especially instigated by a personal vendetta. he A-team created quite a buzz in the media pre-release thanks to its top-tier cast, big-budget scenes and of course the 80s nostalgia.

There was something alluring about watching the adored 80s popular characters hit the big screen. But maybe this is exactly why the film did not fare so well with the audience. They were so familiar with the eccentrics and characteristics of the previous actors and plotlines that the movie could not hope to rise up to the standard.

But if you watch it as a standalone film, it will certainly make for one of the most entertaining watches. Stupendous acting, genuine laugh out loud moments and of course crazy action scenes – it would be a rookie mistake to pass out on the movie simply based on the negative reviews.

Point Blank

Point Blank movie poster.jpg

Available on Netflix

With his pregnant wife abducted by some of the most formidable names in the underworld mafia gang and corrupt cops, an emergency room nurse forms an unlikely alliance with an injured war criminal in a race against time to save everything he holds near and dear.

This 86 minute Joe Lynch action thriller movie did not stir up as much of a talk as it should have upon its release. And frankly, it deserves a second chance. The very purpose of action movies is to spice up your life, give you a sneak peek into the extraordinary and offer a few hours of relief from the mundane routine of life – such movies never have to make perfect sense and Point Blank exercises that right.

The movie is a thoroughly entertaining watch with its fast-paced action sequences, tense situations and simple yet engrossing storyline. And even though it seems unlikely, the movie has got plenty of viewers hoping for a sequel. Definitely worth a watch if you ask us.

Conclusion :

Action movies are best enjoyed with a few beers, a couple of your best mates and a big screen. We gave you the perfect list, you only have to arrange the other three. We promise you it’s going to be a good time.
