Project M: Project+ tier list created by the 'GOATs of Project M'

To many within the Smash community, Super Smash Bros. Brawl didn't quite live up to be the sequel to Melee that fans had hoped for. While Brawl did in fact expand on its adventure mode and roster compared to Melee, the game was criticized by some for its more casual approach to the Super Smash Bros. formula.

Eventually, fans decided to bring certain elements from Melee — speed, wavedashing, L-cancelling, etc. — into Brawl via "Project M." Recently, four of some of the best Project M players — Junebug, Malachi, Sosa and ThundeRzReiGN — got together to create an updated tier list for Project M: Project+ (an updated version to Project M after the original Project M team ceased development).

According to the four players, Project M's focus on balance means that more characters are viable when compared to Melee. While fighters like Kirby, Bowser and Pichu are considered to be irredeemably bad in Melee, even the worst challengers in Project M can be decent in the right hands.

The four strongest characters in Project M are Mewtwo, Meta Knight, Zero Suit Samus and Wolf. Other characters like Wario, Captain Falcon, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Sheik, Diddy Kong and Fox also rank very high in the list.

Those that stopped keeping up with Project M after the release of Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might be surprised to see Knuckles. While his moveset does take a few cues from Sonic, he sports many unique attacks during gameplay like the ability to burrow into the ground.

During the video, the "GOATs of Project M" discuss various changes from Melee and elaborate on how they arranged certain characters on their tier list.
