We checked with Level|Up to find out what the early registration numbers are for the SoCal Regionals 2014, by game. With 20 titles in the lineup, we thought it'd be interesting to see which games have attracted the most players so far.
Also, an influx of users is expected to flood in a week before registration ends, on February 23, so it's highly advised that you sign up now, or risk not being able to compete in the games you wish to play — as registration is capped.
The caps for SSF4 AE v2012, UMvC3 and SSBM are 256 players. KoF13, BBCP and soon Injustice will be capped at 128, so if you're interested in signing up for any of these games, you should
hit the SoCal Regionals website before the brackets fill up.
Hit the jump to see the breakdown.

The first post launch character for
Killer Instinct was released last week, and is now available to those who purchased the Ultra or Combo Breaker pack.
We here at
EventHubs have added Spinal's official
move list to our
Killer Instinct guide section, so now you can use it for quick reference instead of having to keep going back to the start menu in-game.
Additionally, you can now select Spinal as one of the characters you play on you
EventHubs profile. Just hit the "edit profile" link at the top of the page, find
Killer Instinct, then edit your characters.
Lastly, a
stats page has also been generated, so once players start listing Spinal as one of the characters they play, you'll be able to see how many of them are on the site, and near your area.

Since the release of
Killer Instinct's latest character, Spinal, many content creators have been in the lab with him trying to find the best technology.
In today's batch of videos, we have an optimized curse combo that is quite practical, a strange re-stand set up that is specific to Sabrewulf, and a combo video showing off a bit of flashiness.
If you're thinking about trying out Spinal for the first time, or just want to add some new tech to your repertoire, hit the jump to view our roundup.

Coming off of his 1st place
Killer Instinct victory at
Kumite in Tennessee, Justin Wong sat down with his sponsorship team, Evil Geniuses, to talk a bit about the game.
The top 8 of KiT had 5 Sabrewulf players place, and Justin feels this is no coincidence. He says that the rabid wolf is currently the best in the game's early life, and the only character that can actively beat him is Glacius.
Justin explains that Sabrewulf is the only character that has grounded target combos, which leads to quick, unbreakable combos. While most characters in the game play more in the Street Fighter style, the Evil Geniuses member says that Sabre is a "charge character that doesn't need to charge."
"Right now, I think he's the best character in the early game. He's very easy to play. What stands out with Sabrewulf is that he is the only character able to chain his normals. Other character play more like Street Fighter characters where you do a normal into a special, but not Sabrewulf," Justin said.
"He gets easy target combos that he can cancel into super. Him being so easy is the reason I picked him in the Microsoft Tournament. He's a charge character that doesn't need to charge."

This morning's
Killer Instinct update added a new method of punishing players that rage quit. Those who have a disconnect percentage of 15% or higher are sent to a "rage quitter jail" for 24 hours in which they can only face other players who also inhabit the jail.
It has been reported by numerous users of the Double Helix Games forums that some players have been wrongly cast into rage quit jail as a result of their opponent disconnecting. One can identify if they have been sent away by the jail bar icon that replaces your custom icon next to your gamertag.

If you've been anxiously awaiting Spinal's reveal in the Double Helix Games'
Killer Instinct, then we have good news for you.
According to IGN associate editor and fighting game enthusiast, Vincent Ingenito, KI fans can expect something Spinal related to drop on the site tomorrow morning.
Considering that this next KI character is scheduled to drop some time in January, (and there are only 2 days left in the month), there are very high chances that we'll see a debut trailer, and possibly a stream showing off what he's capable of. IGN's last
Killer Instinct reveal featured Orchid and came in the form of a full-fledged stream with the developers on hand, so if we're lucky, we'll see a similar format tomorrow morning.
