Absolutely love that the Fred Armisen character is totally a music snob even in the wasteland

Q&A
Just as the Brotherhood must preserve the knowledge of a pre-war America, so must someone preserve all those mids and bass.
The mids aren't on there. They're in it.
I think Mr Radioman needs to take a trip to Maryland to see Vault 92.
That’s the one where they specifically drove musicians insane right?
Well, they weren’t trying to drive them insane. That was just a happy accident.
You missed the treble
It's all about that bass.
(I thought the jazz version more appropriate to fallout)
That version is pretty great.
That was the most random and hilarious scene in the show; and that's saying something! I'm sitting there thinking "how are all the characters going to do their thing?" and then Fred pops up and is quintessentially Fred. I am crying laughing, just asking "how?"
Bravo to whomever cast him for that role!
Yes I've been very curious if these guest stars were just taking jobs or perhaps fans
Or maybe the casting people (or Todd Howard) are fans of these silly comedians
One of the showrunners worked on Portlandia so probably just a quick phone call
I have to agree. Chris Parnell of SNL is also in it. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GKBuIlmiqug
My fingers are crossed for a Rob McElhenny cameo in season 2. Ideally as the voice of Fisto
One of the show runners was a writer on Portlandia, where Kyle MacLachlan played the Mayor. Fred Armisen was one of the two stars of that show.
It's not a direct reference to Portlandia, but that character could have been right out of a Portlandia sketch. So that one was definitely an easter egg sort of thing.
“Oh my god he’s in everything!” was my response because he’s legitimately been in like the last 5 shows we’ve watched in this brief roles. I love it and he’s always so weird.
"Did he just say klay?"
No, it’s silent.
No doubt a fan of portlandia.
I can’t unsee now that he’s an ex Minuteman that went west and brought Minuteman radio with him 😝
More of a beats-per-Minuteman at this point.
Edit: Unless he also farms to sustain himself. Then, he could be a beets-per-Minuteman
groan
Beets?
I was just glad they made fun of how terrible minute man radio was. Ear wracking fiddle on loop.....
And added the extra satellite radio mp3 compression jangly noises. It was perfect
most people dont realise this, but these are the Original recordings!
Oh god it was so bad. It really sold the idea that people would hunt down his station to try and kill him.
Terrible? You mean fantastic.
You just had the legend Fred Armisan explain the mids and the bass.
lol I used to hate it but now I froth the fiddle - gives the wasteland a different vibe
it's not even a character. if the apocalypse happened he would 1000% start up a weird fiddle radio station
I can entertain the idea that Armisen is immortal
Or at least a ghoul
Featuring Fred Armisen as Portlandia Fred Armisen
Radiation is OVER
Adds up cus one of the show runners of fallout wrote for Portlandia
It also features THE MAYOR OF
VAULT 33PORTLAND.Whoever was in charge of casting did phenomenal in all aspects. Having that role for Armisen. Hank being a loving father figure and turning into evil manipulator on a dime was perfect casting for that actor. I mean they even got an absolute pice of shit excuse for a human being to play Knight Titus, who is indeed an absolute pos human being! My only regret is the Betty didn’t act more like her Deadpool character 🤔
Love Chris Parnel too
Honestly tho his brand of comedy and character acting would fit so perfectly in any Fallout game. Dr. Spaceman could easily have been a wasteland / Vault Tec-approved doctor
Tbh I kinda got Spaceman vibes from Brain on a Roomba when he tried to jab Norm too
I’d be totally down if they had Parnell pop up as a new character every couple episodes.
It’d be pretty on-brand for him as an actor, but fallout as well.
…Which just made me realize that I want Will Forte to be in this as well.
Even if they blow him up immediately and his only line is “po-tay-to-cheyip!!”
Same!!
it's insane how well his tone of comedy fit into the world/episode they had crafted. One of my favorite cameos of all time cause we're asked to just ignore how.... he's a cyclops lmfao
Let’s not forget Matt Berry, also
I feel like so many people missed out on the fact that Titus being play by Rapaport was an entire joke by itself. It’s an acknowledgment from both the writers and Rapaport himself that he’s a fucking douche canoe. I actually love that level of meta humor that I did not expect to see it done in this. You get the set up of “Knight Titus is a dickhead. I cannot wait to see who is under there.” It’s like the same thing as when somebody is driving like an asshole and once you see their face, it’s maybe not the douche you were expecting.
unfortunately i paused during that scene to take a wizz and the amazon prime video overlay spoiled that he is knight titus
Why is Rapaport an asshole in real life? Im missing the reference
He's a loudmouth, an idiot, and most recently hes revealed himself to be a massive Zionist who went to very specific, nicer areas of Israel along the edge of the Gaza strip to basically say "Apartheid? What apartheid? Do you guys know of an apartheid? Never heard of her"
wow I knew he looked familiar but somehow didn’t realize that was him. very on brand character for him
Not go discredit casting at all, but that was so perfect I have to imagine it was written specifically for Fred. One of the show runners worked on Portlandia so I bet that's how it went, I can't imagine that scene working with any other actor.
Wait, Rappaport is "an absolute piece of shit excuse for a human being" because....?
He made fun òf that poor cat lol
Apparently a pro genocide guy. Idk just what I read from others here
Ahhh, the anti-historical-literacy brigade should spend more time reading r/AskHistoriansr/AskHistorians
Zionist shill
Oh, it couldn't be that bad *checks Twitter" Holy shit
And the fact that they apparently stopped making music at some point in the 1960s, he'll be right about it being "the right way to listen".
These are original recordings
Music didn't actually stop in the 60s. There's plenty of references to modern bands like Tool in Fallout & Fallout 2. In the Bethesda games, it's canon that all the 30s-60s music is just a result of the American government heavily pushing patriotism and controlling people's lives. Everything else is simply counterculture.
I'm still hoping if Fallout 5 brings it back to San Francisco they sort of expand into mid-late 60's music.
All the leaves are brown…and the sky is gray.
California Dreamin’ as I’m poking through the ruins of the Tenderloin? Fucking inject it into my veins; wouldn’t be too hard to find a needle, either
New York is the one I'd like to see, its been said that Broadway is a crater. It would be interesting to have a game where the center of the map is the nono zone where cutting across the middle would be literal (figurative) hell
I typically go thru Queens and Brooklyn to avoid that crater, so it would be pretty on point.
Tool is canon in Fallout?! That is wild.
Everyone says this, but there are a number of recordings from the 90s and 2000s in New Vegas for instance.
The only song in NV is Johnny Guitar
Fred Armisen's script was totally pulled straight from the comments section of r/audiophile.
'Critics' lol
Still annoyed people complained about his scene (along with the apothecary/chicken fucker) as just weird. Those people obviously never played a Fallout game.
Pure 1-2
For sure.
Imagine the apoplexy if a modern Fallout game could have you lose an arm-wrestling match to a super mutant, and wake up the next day with a sore ass and a ball gag in your inventory.
As someone who is currently trying to hunt down the fallout 76 radio host, I can appreciate the Looney Toons traps he set up to protect himself
Don't like treble and bass? Straight to jail.
I love that it’s from Agatha’s station in FO3
Those mids wail
Oh, it’s been so long since I’ve played 3(PlayStation) that I thought it was the minutemen radio violin specifically downgraded
It is the same music from the Minutemen radio
It’s from Radio Freedom in Fallout 4
I love how many upvotes your comment has for being completely wrong lol.
I can't decide if Fred or Rapaport is my favorite cameo. 😂
I got all excited seeing the two Justified castmates in episode 1 and 2 (Bubba and Rapaport)... maybe well get Timothy Olyphant or Dewey in season 2.
but would Olyphant reprise Givens or Bullock? I realize the latter has no connection to Justified, but still...
If I'm looking for a new connected cameo, though, it would be Danny McBride, but then I'd want him to do an homage to Kenny Fuckin Powers, rather than Gemstone or the vice principal he played.
I also want Nandor or Colin Robinson to show up. As members of the Enclave, or something.
Olyphant will be a sheriff as is tradition
Channeling Kenny Powers would be great, but channeling Cody (from Tropic Thunder) would fit the world more 🤣
The Mysterious Stranger is just Kenny Powers
is that the shadowy guy overhead at the Vault-tec meeting with Ghoul's wife?
I don’t remember seeing rappaport
He was the original Knight Titus
