I think this book and what I'm feeling can be surmised in two words: Da fuck?!?
I literally have no clue in hell what just happened.
Like, I truly think I have just lost some brain cells after finishing that.
It’s not that this is a bad storyline or even that it’s written badly (though isn’t the best, either), but it’s the fact that I literally have no idea what just happened.
Maybe I should put a spoiler warning with this post, but, quite honestly, I don’t think the things I’m going to talk about can be classified as spoilers, because Heaven knows that no one who reads this is going to be able to properly identify exactly what fresh hell just went on, so lets get too it.
I’m sitting here at my desk writing this, just completely laughing my butt off because I am so confused. Did Eureka die at the end? I dunno. It seems like she did, but who the hell knows? Oh, and Ander? WTF?!? Is he no longer the one you love, Eureka? This is a rhetorical question, because I literally have no clue, nor do I particularly care.
Because Brooks was suddenly all your teenage hormone mind could seem to care about during this book, so who knows? And then at the end . . . Did Brooks die too? I literally have no idea. I hope so. If for no other reason than to make this somewhat more interesting, but, hell, my brain is already revolting against me right now, so what do I know?
Imma hot mess right now, if you can’t already tell.
Ander seriously got swept to the side in this book. It was all about him and Eureka and going against fate and true love and yadda, yadda, yadda, and then, all of a sudden, poof – no more romance. What the hell?!?
I mean, don’t get me wrong – I didn’t like the guy already. But I figured he, Brooks, and Eureka were going to make the typical love triangle where we all knew poor Brooks didn’t stand a chance.
Well, guess I was wrong.
And this surprise wasn’t even a good thing. It made absolutely no sense.
The worst part – besides not having a clue as to . . . well . . . everything that went on in this novel – was that Eureka never even really broke it off with Ander. I mean, sure, I guess they were never officially together, but come on Eureka, when a guy goes against his homicidally insane family to save your life over saving the world, you gotta let the poor sap know you don’t love him.
I thought this was a trilogy. There’s no way it is now with that ending. Again, I still don’t really understand what just happened during the last few pages of that ending – and for the sake of my brain cells, I don’t think I’m even going to try – but it kind of left no room for another book.
Gosh, I don’t even know what else to say. I’m so confused and this was just a ridiculous excuse for a sequel. The first one was bad, but bad in a way that I still got through it and on some infinitely small way enjoyed parts of it, but this? This is truly one of the worst books I have ever read. And that’s really saying something.
My brain, guys. It hurts.
Do yourself a favor and don’t read this. I don’t even care if you’ve read the first book in the series and are like me where you have this stupid compulsive disorder that when you start a series, you must finish it. GO AGAINST IT. Tie yourself to a chair and tell your reading buddy NOT to let you touch your library card. I do not care how much it hurts; I am already saving you agony. DON’T GIVE IN TO THE IMPULSE, PEOPLE.

Apparently they changed the cover...
I mean, I love this one as well!! I really do :D It's more bright, vivid, and her hair is blowing like in Teardrop. I don't know, I like both, so I don't know why some people are freaking out. They're both beautiful, so does it make a difference?

It's nice, nice, nice, but I liked the other better. Why? Because it correlated with Teardrop's cover. Unless they change Teardrop's cover, I am not satisfied. I love the cover, but I hate the correlation.
Like, I love when a series has a theme for the cover. I really do. :/

AAGGHHH!! I saw the book in Walmart! I picked it up, I scanned it! And then I saw the back - where they showed the UPDATED cover of Teardrop. And I was like, "Okay, cool, it correlates."
BUt now I'm faced with a more difficult challenge.

Ok. Ooookaaaayyyy. My first one-star review. Let's do this.

THIS BOOK SUCKED
It is the SECOND book in the series, meaning that by now, I should be attached to the characters. But I'm not. I don't care about Brooks, I don't care about Ander, I don't care about Cat, or Solon, or the dad, or Atlas, or Selene, or Atlantis, or the twins, and I REALLY REALLY REALLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT EUREKA
I don't like her either. She's such an emo: depressing, pessimistic, suicidal and everything an emo is. Plus, she's so stupid . Seriously. And, question: why the hell is it OK to love and want Brooks like there's no tomorrow, and yet she CAN'T POSSIBLY LOVE ANDER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not even because of the whole aging thing; they get over that pretty quickly. No, it's because of her heritage. UGH.
And the way they tried to make Eureka the villain, while still being the hero? Oh come ON. It was supposed to be some big revelation, but I felt nothing. N O T H I N G. NADA. Why? Because I just don't care.
So. 1 star. I wasn't sure whether to give it one or two stars, but I figured that if I even have to consider that, then 1 star it is.

Eureka's tears brought down a flood that killed millions of people, but the worst part is Atlantis is awakened and bound on a mission to eradicate man-kind so it could take over. However, the powers that be in Atlantis need more of Eureka's tears to accomplish their goals. She must find a way to save what's left of humanity.
This book is full of disaster after disaster. At some point, I started worrying if anything good would ever come out of the story. Each success comes coupled with an even bigger disaster. I understand the need to keep the tension high, but until the last few pages of the book, the main character, Eureka, was a victim of her power, destiny, and the circumstances surrounding her actions. However, the world-building was phenomenal, and despite the doom and woes surrounding the main character, I love the storyline and the pace of the story. 4 stars.

What a disappointment! The first book was well-paced, great story, very well written. This was dark, weird, and hard to follow. I kept reading to see if it improved, and it never did.

What the hell just happened? I don't even understand what happened in this book. First 50% were slow and boring, but after that it was like I started completely different book. I was in dilemma to give it two stars just for interesting ending, but there was too much random shit

First of all, I didn't know that the Teardrop series was going to be a duology. It's kinda stupid, I love long series, like Fallen for example.
The beginning of Waterfall was slow... It was hard to read, but slowly things were happening and it became more interesting.
When I figured out who Ander really was, I was moving my hands like 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' and my mom looked at me and thought I was crazy.. Oops... That part made me want to read and finish the book. And I did!
About the end, I don't think this was the end the book needed. It should've been different.

Okay, I rarely give out bad reviews to books that I absolutely love the first in the series, so I will explain my review here but it will have spoilers after this point.
Firstly, this book had a great premise. It was expected that our lead had risen Atlantis, I honestly expected much more imagery and underwater adventure. What I ended up with was that the adventure was now about how we can undo this. They were in limbo the entire book, Atlantis not completely risen, the world just waiting for it to happen... A let down for me as a reader.
I also couldn't picture the world and their environment, it was confusing she would be walking and the next minute climbing, the next swimming. I don't understand WHERE they are and what it looks like. Is there water?!
Another factor is the love story, she goes from brooks to ander... Sometimes says she's in love with one sometimes the other. But, she doesn't change her mind, she just confuses the heck out of you.
Not to mention she could've continued the series and stopped this book on page 296.. Though I'm glad that she didn't. It just felt like the ending. By page 350, I had no idea what was going on. She didn't explain how the character got from one place to another. She seemed to be waking up for a dream, I almost doubted the whole story thinking that this was a whole "Alice's adventures in wonderland" situation where it was all a dream. I just couldn't get the facts straight in this book. Who did she love, where was she, what's going on.
For all the negative spin she put on Atlantis, an emphasis was put on prophecies, witches and other fantastic elements that others may appreciate. I just think she took the story to another place than the first book. Very bizarre!

Sebbene l’inizio sia stato ancora più pesante del primo libro, devo dire che verso metà libro è stato bello da farmi scendere anche una lacrima scorrevole come sempre. Mi aspettavo un coinvolgimento maggiore oltre al fatto che rimane una domanda senza risposta per come finisce: ora Eureka che farà!?
I personaggi mi sono sembrati un po’ banali, forse si salvano i gemelli e Solon, la storia delle origini di Eureka una confusione dietro l’altra sinceramente oltre al fatto che non avrei mai abbandonato la mia famiglia per una missione suicida senza sapere effettivamente se sopravviveva.
Come ho detto mi aspettavo decisamente meglio dalla scrittrice avendo letto precedentemente altri suoi libri ma qui niente. Ci sono i lati positivi quanti quelli negativi ovviamente, oltre ad una scena molto toccante tra “padre” e figlia, una scena che sinceramente ho visto quanto tenesse e proteggesse la sua bambina peccato che non sia stata effettivamente in carne e ossa il padre, e ad una scena di un sacrificio di un personaggio, per salvare tutti i suoi ospiti, che non mi aspettavo che facesse questo gesto estremo nè la rivelazione di chi effettivamente è Ander.
Credo di non aggiungere altro su questo libro, ma di sicuro farà parte di quelle letture da non rileggere e quindi non mi resta altro che darvi soltanto il voto a questo libro

I felt like i was forcing myself to read this book :( excuse review if it has weird pronouns like 'you' when referring to Eureka
I was wavering between giving this book a two or a three. it was so hard to decide but I gave it a 2. though the rating is rounded up and I wish I could have given it a solid 2.5.
to be honest this book was a complete let down. I was utterly disappointed by the ending. it was horrible.
the start of the book, was ok, and that's nice. I'm sure there are people who would say it was downright horribke and if I were to be in a less than happy mood, I would be inclined to agree.
it was slow and not to mention kind of redundant and stupid. slowly, extremelu slowly, the story took shape and it got a bit more interesting as I got to the middle.
when I met Solon, gotta say, I liked him. he was kind of a bad guy and then not much so. what WAS dumb was that there was this whole part about how he was supposed to train Eureka etc. but no, let's just not. instead, I'll kill myself and all the other seedbearers for you, make it an easier fight for you now that all the seedbearers got wiped out in one go. don't get me wrong, it was so honourable of him to sacrifice himself for the greater good and blah bit seriously?!?! he commits suicide and Eureka just doesn't learn anything and just keeps on going and being stupid. ugh, I wish I coule explain the frustration i feel better.
anyways, it mau seem kind of weird but Solon's death, along with Eureka's dad's death were probably the only good parts in the book-well written and emotion provoking.
otherwise, the rest of the book was all downhill. as the end of the bokk neared the storyline just got more ridiculous bu the second. everything was mumbo jumbo and wau out of the park. ugh, it was so bad. I was struggling to read it. Eureka was just getting more and more annoying. she has this lightbulb moment for some reason and it works.
she possesses Atlas. what a horrendous turn of events. she makes him shes a tear of joy. oh wow. really
. I was just so unimpressed. Eureka's body gets torn apart?!?! what on heck just happened. then her apparent 'mother' who she kissed (btw apparently Eureka's can kill now.....its so ridiculous im not eben surprised anymore) and killed suddenly joins her IN Atlas' body. and as if that's not enough, Noah Brooks joins the party in the body as well. what the heck.
and don't even get me started on Brooks and Ander. I am a die hard Ander fan. but. I am totally fine with Eureka grieving over Brooks because he's possessed bt Atlas. yeah, that's sad Eureka, you should've seen the change in him earlier. blah. nobody cares right now. the whole works is drowning because of your damn tears and BROOKS is all you can think about. WAKE UP.
oh yeah and everytime Anders says something you bring Brooks up. talk about ruining the moment.
also. who the heck do you love? all the proclamations of love ( in Eureka's head and out loud) have become so worthless because she just keeps saying them about BOTH the guys. stopb leading them on. ugh. it was so frustrating and annoying.
and the freaking ending?!?!! what was is?!?! did she die?!?!?! ahhhhhh. this book was bad.

the start of the book, was ok, and that's nice. I'm sure there are people who would say it was downright horribke and if I were to be in a less than happy mood, I would be inclined to agree.
it was slow and not to mention kind of redundant and stupid. slowly, extremelu slowly, the story took shape and it got a bit more interesting as I got to the middle.
when I met Solon, gotta say, I liked him. he was kind of a bad guy and then not much so. what WAS dumb was that there was this whole part about how he was supposed to train Eureka etc. but no, let's just not. instead, I'll kill myself and all the other seedbearers for you, make it an easier fight for you now that all the seedbearers got wiped out in one go. don't get me wrong, it was so honourable of him to sacrifice himself for the greater good and blah bit seriously?!?! he commits suicide and Eureka just doesn't learn anything and just keeps on going and being stupid. ugh, I wish I coule explain the frustration i feel better.
anyways, it mau seem kind of weird but Solon's death, along with Eureka's dad's death were probably the only good parts in the book-well written and emotion provoking.
otherwise, the rest of the book was all downhill. as the end of the bokk neared the storyline just got more ridiculous bu the second. everything was mumbo jumbo and wau out of the park. ugh, it was so bad. I was struggling to read it. Eureka was just getting more and more annoying. she has this lightbulb moment for some reason and it works.
she possesses Atlas. what a horrendous turn of events. she makes him shes a tear of joy. oh wow. really
. I was just so unimpressed. Eureka's body gets torn apart?!?! what on heck just happened. then her apparent 'mother' who she kissed (btw apparently Eureka's can kill now.....its so ridiculous im not eben surprised anymore) and killed suddenly joins her IN Atlas' body. and as if that's not enough, Noah Brooks joins the party in the body as well. what the heck.
and don't even get me started on Brooks and Ander. I am a die hard Ander fan. but. I am totally fine with Eureka grieving over Brooks because he's possessed bt Atlas. yeah, that's sad Eureka, you should've seen the change in him earlier. blah. nobody cares right now. the whole works is drowning because of your damn tears and BROOKS is all you can think about. WAKE UP.
oh yeah and everytime Anders says something you bring Brooks up. talk about ruining the moment.
also. who the heck do you love? all the proclamations of love ( in Eureka's head and out loud) have become so worthless because she just keeps saying them about BOTH the guys. stopb leading them on. ugh. it was so frustrating and annoying.
and the freaking ending?!?!! what was is?!?! did she die?!?!?! ahhhhhh. this book was bad.

Out of all the things I expected from this series--a robot, holograms, and experiments were not one of them. I might write a proper review for this later, but the best way to describe this sequel was weird. It felt oddly different from the first novel, and not in a good way at all. The first in the series, Teardrop felt like a pretty typical YA Paranormal, but I felt like the author didn't quite know where she was going with this one, which translated into a confused, garbled novel without proper direction. Perhaps others will enjoy this sequel, but I did not.

She travels across the ocean with Ander to try and make sense of the dark world her sorrow has created. But dark secrets are hidden in the depths - will she be strong enough to defeat Atlas, or is her broken heart just what he needs to power his rising kingdom?
Eureka has the chance to save the world. But she'll have to give up on everything - even love . . .
As much as I loved the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, this series has been an utter disappointment. I can't love the characters, I find the pace a tad slow, the plot line has a lot of unexplained occurrences and none of these can be fully redeemed by the author's writing. She writes beautifully, I agree, but the angst levels in this book and it's earlier one has been a major turn-off for me. First we had two guys after her, now we have three. Eureka mostly comes across as self-absorbed, and doesn't care much of other characters. Excessive self-pity (though it works for the story-line in ways I didn't imagine) would sort of be her defining trait, the other being her naivete.
When we enter Waterfall, the entire world is in an apocalypse situation because Eureka's tears have drowned the Waking World, and the Sleeping World is to be woken within the next full moon for Atlantis to rise. The first half of the book is devoted to exposition and pointless plot developments like the addition of quirks (the origin of which isn't explained until way in the end of the book) and additional characters that don't contribute much. Second half is Eureka discovering her real past (I had my suspicions about the Tearline) and then embracing it and plotting against Atlas. The story was good, perhaps different would be more appropriate, but not nearly captivating enough. I did not have the drive to finish this book because it just couldn't get me invested in the characters. The ending - it could have gone a hundred different ways and yet it ended so. I normally don't mind character death as long as it is necessary to the plot, but there was quite a death toll in both books.
The redeeming points - Atlantis finally rose! I loved how Atlantis was described as a place of splendor in innovation rather than just old palaces and stuff. An old world that was more advanced than ours? Brilliant idea. Too bad we barely got a glimpse of it. Also, what happened to it at the end? Did Atlantis remain in the Waking World? That wasn't explained (though the Gossipwitch mountain survived)
In conclusion, while the story and premise are quite different and innovative, I wasn't satisfied with it. It could work for some, but surely didn't work for me.

Just... Wow! I HATED Waterfall! And although it wasn't as good as the books in the Fallen series, I still really enjoyed Teardrop. Mostly just for the romance between Ander and Eureka. I did like Brooks, what we did get to see of the real him. Although he spent most of the time in both books already controlled by Atlas, and we didn't get to know him much before that. I cared absolutely nothing for a single other character, and although some parts of the mythology were interesting, for the most part it seemed confusing and poorly thought out.
Moving on to Waterfall, who knows what the heck happened! I'm going to sound like I'm nit picking, but I genuinely felt that there was not a single thing good about this book. From the very first page, I was lost.
- I couldn't picture the setting at all, and the feel of it was all so weird. And ridiculous! Why are we traveling in a weird bubble underwater, with the whole family?
- The new characters were horrible. Every single one of them. They did not feel realistic or really useful, and it was impossible to form any attachment to them.
- Things were added to the mythology that felt like they were just thrown in without much thought. It was confusing, boring, and for a lot of it, unnecessary. The gossip witches especially.

I have to say that this is probably my favourite book by Lauren Kate. It enjoyed it a lot, but I can't get around the fact that I find Lauren's writing a bit confusing at times, incoherent even.

This is the second book in the series following last year's opening instalment 'Teardrop'. I have to say that I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book. I got quite confused about what was going on, particularly in the second half of the story and I found the pace very slow. I put this one down and picked it up again several times before I actually managed to finish the whole thing. I am disappointed because I was so looking forward to reading it and had such high hopes about it that I felt very flat by the time I got to the final page.
Eureka has caused the earth to flood and now has to deal with the consequences. People have died, those closest to her are in danger and her love for Anders and best friend Brooks lies in the balance. As Atlantis begins to rise and the evil Atlas threatens everything she holds dear, Eureka begins to discover some difficult truths about her past and future.
I thought that at times, Eureka seemed like a very different character in 'Waterfall'. She's been through so much and learnt so much about herself and I understand that this would change a person but I didn't always recognise the person that she ended up becoming. She was tougher but her human side was less evident. I also didn't feel the romance between Eureka and Anders this time around, even though I thought this was going to be developed in a really positive way. The bond between them is still strong but I didn't believe in it quite as much, so I wasn't as connected with them as a couple.
I do think that Lauren Kate writes beautifully and I always adore the mythological aspects of her stories. I enjoyed finding out more about the Seedbearers and the world of Atlantis but this wasn't enough to keep my attention firmly rooted on the characters' struggles.
I will be continuing with this series because I think that Lauren Kate may still knock it out of the park with a killer conclusion.

To čo sa tam dialo? Päť minút som na to kukala ako teľa na nové vráta. Rozmýšľam, či som tento rok čítala väčšiu kravinu, ale asi nie. Na posledné strany knihy nemám slov. Fakt. Snažím sa to pochopiť, ale moje primitívne myslenie na to očividne nestačí. Môžem oceniť jedine autorkinu obrovskú fantáziu, no aj z tej som bola pri čítaní dosť často zmätená.
A zo všetkého najviac mi liezlo na nervy Eurekino vzdychanie nad Anderom a Brooksom a chodila od jedného k druhému ako pingpongová loptička, z čoho sa mi uškvaril mozog.
Po Páde som sa konečne tešila, že napísala niečo zaujímavé a takto kolosálne to zbabre. Ale hlavné, že sa knižka predáva a má peknú obálku... to je tak všetko.

I think that the real question after I finished this book is "What the f***?" I can't say whether I like it or not. I have never read something like this. This book caused mixed feelings in me, I love the first book but this one, I just don't know what happened. Where's my happy ending? Or this is a happy ending? I have too many questions, and basically no answers. I find this book a little boring but on the other side, I've never read something like this. I hope they'll make a movie out of this, I need to see this with someone elses eyes. But still, It's a good book, Lauren is a great writer, but this book simply wasn't what I expected.

This book was so far-fetched ... I don't even know how to feel about all the weirdness! How do you ... What did she ... Why would I ... Was Lauren Kate on some kind of medication when she wrote this? That would explain a lot. At first I was like 'yeah okay, weird, but maybe three stars' but the second half is just like nope nope nope two stars for you.
And I swear to you that feeling of bees crawling at the base of my skull will never leave me.

No toto bola kravina... Jediné, čo sa mi páčilo na tejto knihe obálka. Dobre tak pár strán, ale toto bolo nehorázna nuda. Slza bola v pohode, ale Vodopád to dojebal... Vôbec ma to nebavilo čítať, iba vtedy keď som potrebovala zabiť čas a čakala som. MOmentálne mám dilemu, či si tú sériu nechám doma alebo ide kdesi het...

So I'd been looking forward to reading this duology for quite some time now and even though the concept was very intriguing because Atlantis is a topic that is something I'm usually interested in considering the myths surrounding the lost city, it was not something that exceeded my expectations. In fact, I felt like I had been expecting too much. Because I'm a huge fan of the Fallen Series, I'd thought I would love this one too, but sadly that is not the case.
So what I did like about the book is of course the writing style and obviously the main plot about the star crossed lovers and the curse on them. There were shocking revelations made towards the end regarding Ander which was interesting, the bond of friendship between Eureka and Cat was heartwarming. Solon's character was something which I loved in the short time that we got to know him.
What I didn't like was Eureka, I liked Cat more than her basically. Ander was fine but sadly not swoon-worthy. I felt the chemistry between them was hugely lacking. I felt absolutely nothing when they were together on page. I really liked the prequel novella to the story which actually showcases Ander's in depth feelings which the actual book fails to depict. In fact it's like Eureka was more into Brooks than she ever was into Ander. I don't get it. I know he's your best friend and all or maybe he should have been the MC all along rather than dragging Ander unnecessarily for the ride.
Many a times, my attention wavered from the story which is not a good sign when reading a book. So anyway, though it had a great concept, it's only going to be a one time read for me.

I wasn't a fan of the first book, however I was willing to give the sequel a go because I quite liked and enjoyed Lauren Kate's Fallen series so I 'hoped' the sequel would redeem the series for me.
Though with that being said, while the series most definitely has a unique concept and one that was quite well thought out, however I'm still not a fan of this series and to be honest with you, as much as I like the author's writing style . . . it just wasn't enough for me to like and connect with the characters, so unfortunately I won't be continuing this series and that's mostly because of my own personal taste in stories. The series isn't bad at all, it's just not for me and that's okay because I'm sure there are plenty of other fans of this series.

October 20, 2014I've been reading this for at least 2 weeks now and I've only managed to read 30%. I really wanted to like this, and for it to redeem Teardrop, which only picked up towards the end but it just isn't. I loved this author's previous work, however I'm just getting more and more bored with this book. I don't know what it is about this series, but I feel really disconnected and the fact that I put it down and forgot about it (reading 7 other books before I picked it back up again) means I'm probably not going to be able to finish it. It's a shame as I like this author and the covers are beautiful, but a book this length should take me a day at most to finish. I can't continue reading at the pace I'm going so unfortunately I'm going to mark this as DNF and move on--despite my best efforts to stick with it.

Waterfall was just as good as Teardrop, but also much better.
Eureka and Ander's story continues, and family and close friends get a lot more involved.
I read Waterfall in a day, and I enjoyed every moment of it.
I thought the plot was a lot better than Teardrop's one, and I was hooked the whole time. However, I read the ending in a haze, not quite comprehending what happened.
Overall, I really enjoyed Waterfall, and I can't wait for book 3! This is my third Lauren Kate book, and I've enjoyed all three. I can't wait to read the Fallen series as well.
