El Modo Imperativo en Español
El modo imperativo lo utilizamos para dar órdenes, consejos, recomendaciones e instrucciones. En el imperativo no existe la primera persona “yo”. Las personas del imperativo son las personas a las que yo me dirijo.
¿Cuáles son las personas principales a las que yo me puedo dirigir?
- Tú, tú eres una persona.
- Usted, tú en sentido formal
- O ustedes, todos ustedes.
También puede usarse la forma de nosotros* (cuando yo me incluyo en una orden) por ejemplo: caminemos por el parque, llegaremos más rápido.
El imperativo cambia cuando la frase es afirmativa o negativa. Veamos cada una de sus formas.
Imperativo Afirmativo

| USTED* | intente | coma | duerma | |
| NOSOTROS* | intentemos | comamos | durmamos | |
| USTEDES* | intenten | coman | duerman | |

Ejemplos:
(tú) intenta beber zumo de piña.
(usted) coma más sano.
(ustedes) duerman temprano.
*las irregularidades del presente se mantienen (él-ella duerme).
**La forma de vosotros es solo utilizada en España.
Imperativo Negativo
Cuando el imperativo tiene sentido “negativo” entonces el verbo cambia (mantiene las mismas irregularidades el presente del subjuntivo)

Ejemplo:
(tú) no intentes hacer ejercicio
(usted) no coma tanta azúcar
(ustedes)no salgan hasta tarde
* Igual a la forma del subjuntivo y sus irregularidades se mantienen (él-ella salga).
**La forma de vosotros es solo utilizada en España.
Verbos Irregulares
Los verbos irregulares son sólo irregulares en la segunda persona “tú” para el sentido “afirmativo” del imperativo.
