Is it a safe to book hotel through Agoda ?

My recent experience with Agoda was not good.

Recently I had made some booking through Agoda in 2 different hotels. I got confirmation for booking as well and Agoda deducted money also from my account. However after few days I got message from Hotel that my booking is not confirmed as rooms are sold out . I tried to reach Agoda to clarify these but unfortunately after waiting for 30 minuets I couldn’t reached Customer service officer. I tried calling them 3 continues days but same issue no one their to receive the call.

Finally I called Hotel to find out why my booking Is still not confirmed. Hotel manager updated me that Agoda doesn’t upload the rates which Hotel provide them and It’s a loss for them that’s why they can’t confirm the booking.

So finally I decided to cancel the booking but notice that for Cancellation the refund was not full. There was deduction of 27% which is a loss for me.

Hence, I feel it’s not safe to book through Agoda and their booking confirmation is not guaranteed.

Hotel overbooking can happen regardless of which platform you use, including the hotels own. It is the hotels fault and it’s up to them to offer you an alternative of equal or better quality.

It is not Agoda’s fault if the hotel overbooked

For me, the alrernative and my concern should be addressed by Agoda as I have made the payment to Agoda and Agoda have send me the booking confirmation so it’s their responsibility to resolve the issue and provide me the alternative options but for that they should be first reachable.

Just try calling them once and you will experience how good it is ..

I did not mention whether Agoda’s service is good or not, I stated that overbooking is not a scope of service that ANY online agent is responsible for. It’s an operational error on the hotels part.

The hotel accepted the reservation, they are responsible. The agent has zero responsibility when it comes to overbookings, but that does not mean that some agents - particularly bricks and mortar type agents do not go above and beyond to assist in finding an alternate option. But that does not mean they have to

Hello, my concern with Agoda is I am a partner with Agoda here in the Dominican Republic and since January receiving guest from them.

They never paid me, do not reply mostly my email, if I ask questions about payment they dont answer.

No phone number where we can talk to someone and try to find out what is going on.

Would love to have a call from them

No its not. The system is faulty and reservations are not guaranteed. I tried to book the same room twice, each time card went through and got a confirmation but minutes later got a message that my booking was cancelled. The way Agoda took the money then reversed it flagged my credit cards fraud team and they told me not to use the site. I would stick with well known third party companies or direct! Beware and Stay away from Agoda!

Completely disagree, they took my money on the 20th and had the booking rejected by the hotel on the 5th!NOT the hotel, Agoda! Customer service is shocking and they still have not refunded me. Shocking service
