Do you knowwww…when the Enchanted sequel—which isn't called Enchanted 2, BTW—will be out? Unfortunately, none of us does. The release date hasn't been confirmed, but we do know that key members of the original cast are returning.

The original live-action fairy tale followed Amy Adams as Giselle, a cartoon princess who wants nothing more than to marry her prince (James Marsden) and live happily ever after. But she gets sent to real-world New York by a wicked queen (Susan Sarandon), where she falls for a cynical, single-dad divorce attorney (Patrick Dempsey). Featuring cameos from the voices of Disney princesses past, the hybrid live-action-animated Enchanted marked a turning point for Disney. (YouTuber Lindsay Ellis has a great explainer on Disney's evolving approach to reevaluating its old material.) Enchanted is also remembered as the musical that cast Broadway titan Idina Menzel but didn't have her sing. Yes!

In the years since, Enchanted's reputation has grown alongside Amy Adams's star power, with many fans clamoring for a sequel. And it looks like our wish is finally coming true. Here's everything we know so far about the Enchanted sequel:

It’s not called Enchanted 2.

At the end of 2020, Disney confirmed that Disenchanted (the actual title) is in the works. It will stream on Disney+.

Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey are both returning.

Robert is back! Dempsey told Good Morning America in January 2021 that he “just got this script for the second movie, and then I'm starting to go through and get notes together.” He added that they hope to start shooting in the spring, if coronavirus guidelines allow.

Obviously, Amy Adams will star; Disney couldn't make another Enchanted movie without her. We're pretty sure that would be a felony.

In fact, Dempsey will sing!

On April 26, Dempsey revealed to Variety that he will “get to sing and dance” in the film. “I will be singing for the first time. I’ve never ever sung publicly — for a reason. So bear with me. I hope the fans embrace it. But they’ve set me up for success and the lyrics are really fun. The numbers have really great choreography. And the premise is going to be interesting,” he said.

He also told the outlet, “it’s like a midlife crisis movie,” so, that should be interesting.

James Marsden and Idina Menzel are returning too.

In March 2021, it was confirmed the actors will reprise their respective roles of Prince Edward and Nancy Tremaine.

Maya Rudolph plays the villain.

Looks like the evil queen played by Susan Sarandon won't be returning, but that's okay! Rudolph announced her casting herself on May 17 on Twitter, responding to a thread about the movie. “What’s a good fairy tale without a great villain? I’ll see you in Andalasia my pretties...,” she wrote. Rudolph will play a character named Malvina, per People.

It takes place after happily ever after.

According to Collider, a version of the movie that was in development in 2016 took place a decade after the events of the first one. It reportedly finds Giselle “questioning her happily ever after and accidentally triggering events that make everyone's lives turn upside down in both the real world and in the animated kingdom of Andalasia.” Adam Shankman was attached to direct that version of the movie and is still listed as the project's director on IMDb.

When will it come out?

Unclear, given the pandemic. But thankfully, the studio doesn't have to wait for theaters to reopen: Disenchanted will go straight to streaming on Disney+.

Fans are already thrilled.

It's been kind of a bleak time. We all need a little enchantment!
