Read on to find out how this relationship may have started!

Emma Watson’s Dating History

Emma Watson launched to global stardom in 2001 when she starred as Hermione Granger in the movie adaptation of Harry Potter. Since then, she has been revered as an iconic presence in the film industry. As a result, fans and press alike have kept a close watch on Watson’s personal life.

Us Weekly has chronicled Watson’s dating history, including those people she was only rumored to be dating but most likely wasn’t (such as Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex).

The first person that Watson dated, according to the publication, was Francis Boulle from Made in Chelsea. The two briefly dated in 2008, when Watson was still working on the Harry Potter films.

Throughout the years, Watson has also been connected to musician George Craig and her Perks of Being a Wallflower co-star Johnny Simmons. In 2018, she was linked to Brendan Wallace, a tech CEO.

Despite being a private person, Watson has on occasion opened up about the heartbreak she’s experienced in her life, offering inspiration to fans who are going through a similar experience.

Fast-forward to October 2019 and Watson was spotted with Leo Robinton, a business owner based in California. The pair were confirmed as an item in April 2020 by various media outlets.

Emma Watson Definitely Didn’t Meet Leo Robinton Through A Dating App

Emma Watson is notoriously private about her personal life, but it does seem likely that she didn’t meet Robinton on a dating app.

Elle reports that Watson confirmed she doesn’t use the popular technology to find dates, partly because of her status as a celebrity. “Dating apps are not on the cards for me,” she said.

While neither Watson nor Robinton has confirmed how they met, it was possibly through mutual friends. Watson revealed in an interview (via Elle) that her friends often set her up with people:

“I’m very lucky in the sense that because I went to university and because I’ve done these other things outside of film, my friends are really good at setting me up. Really good.”

The actress also added that she met lots of friends through being set up on dates: “And what’s really nice is some of my best friends are people I got set up on a date with and it didn’t work out.”

Emma Watson Shut Down Engagement Rumors

After it was confirmed that Watson was dating Robinton in 2020, the couple fell under intense media scrutiny and became the subject of widespread rumors. In May 2021, it was reported that Watson was engaged to Robinton.

Watson was quick to shut down the engagement rumors, slamming the false report.

“Rumours about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is “dormant or not” are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue,” the Harry Potter alum wrote on Twitter.

“If I have news—I promise I’ll share it with you,” she told her fans.

Given the constant intrusions into their relationship, it’s no wonder that Watson and Robinton are choosing to keep things private. Robinton deleted his Instagram and other social media accounts after he was photographed kissing Watson in April 2020.

He has since returned to Instagram but his profile remains on private.

Since Watson and Robinton are super private, most of the press surrounding their relationship is based on speculation and rumors. Cosmopolitan claims, “They’re in this thing for the long haul,” as the two have been linked for longer than two years.

The publication also writes, “But to be clear: Emma does see a future with her man, even though there might not be a ring on her finger.”
