Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton San Diego Bay Downtown is lauded for its prime location, within walking distance of attractions like Seaport Village, and its clean, spacious rooms with great views. While the ambiance receives mixed reviews due to an outdated atrium, the service stands out with guests praising the friendly staff and personalized breakfast. However, additional charges for parking and resort fees have somewhat tarnished its value proposition. Amenities like the made-to-order breakfast and happy hour are popular, despite some inconsistencies in housekeeping.

The rooms were very clean with great amenities. The hot breakfast was delicious, and Kimberly was attentive and very friendly!! I was not excited at first about the valet parking, but the quick service and convenience made it great. Embassy is also conveniently located near Seaport Village and great restaurants.

I can't say enough about the care and effort to insure the comfort and safety of every guest at this location July 7th through the 10th. Spacing was well marked, elevators were reserve for one guest room at a time and pickup breakfast boxes each morning were very tasty. The location couldn't be beat with everything, restaurants and activities within walking distance.
And then the view of the harbor was a ten! We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the naval fleet coming and going. Then with the arrival of the Theodore Roosevelt returning to port a very proud powerful moment to observe.

I have not stayed in an Embassy Suites since I had little children 20 years ago. But coming back to the hotel chain (this location) this past weekend I was struck by just what a great option it is for parents with children or tourists who want a long-term stay. Each room is comprised of two spaces, a small front room with TV, coach/bed and sink where you could attempt to eat food you brought into the hotel. The adjoining back room is a bedroom with bathroom. The bathroom is a good size and the bedroom faces the exterior of the building with a sliding door that actually allows you to step onto a balcony and admire the bay. When we had children the kids slept on the coach (pull out bed) while my wife and I could enjoy the privacy of the back room.

At Embassy suites, breakfast is included and the options here including some cooked egg dishes, pancakes and French toast along with many other cold foods. It is not the largest Buffett breakfast by any means but it had sufficient variety for anyone to find something to eat. Attached to the hotel is a bar/restaurant that had really good food while just outside the east entrance was a Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin-Robbins. The interior courtyard space of the hotel was not that charming and comprised of many tables to eat on, and it is true there is renovation going on currently with the upper floors but overall this hotel is very functional and provides good usable room space especially if you are bringing children.

Lastly, the location is really great. 200 yards towards they bay takes you to a promenade that allows you to walk all along the waterfront while another walkway from the door of the hotel takes you right into the heart of town. With the public train/metro around the corner, staying here allows you to visit several top destinations by foot or those more distance via public transport. Often an Embassy suite is less expensive than other hotels, only adding to the value proposition if you are bringing children. I would come back.

We stayed in January 202 as four of the 12 floors of Guest rooms were being refurbished, and got an non-refurbished room. It was still very nice, and the only negative of the construction was a delay in elevator service mid-day as they had 3 of the 4 elevators tied up with the construction. The room was nice and we enjoyed the evening reception and breakfast both days without much wait at all. They were very efficient at keeping wait times short. The location was exceptional, as it is the closest hotel to Seaport Village and the USS Midway Museum. We loved being able to walk to attractions just across the street, and the neighborhood was very nice and felt safe, despite being so close to downtown. Parking here is an issue, as there is only $55 a night valet parking, but you save $10 a night as a Hilton Honors member so that helps, and the valet service was excellent. Overall it was the perfect location for a fun family weekend in San Diego, and we look forward to coming back.

We stayed in two separate rooms for the weekend. My wife and I had a corner suite while our adult daughter and 7 year old granddaughter had the room next door which is not a corner room. Both had a great bay view. The corner suite is the largest room I have ever stayed in. It had a living room with a sofa (convertible to a double bed), large screen TV, a counter with a sink, fridge and microwave. There was a small sit down next to such which can be used as a bed for a toddler if one side is protected. In addition there was a dining table. Very spacious.

The bedroom had a King bed and adjacent bathroom. Outside the bathroom but within the bedroom there was a vanity with mirror and sink. Very handy if the bath is occupied.

The rooms seemed to have been recently remodeled. All fixtures were sleek and modern. The walls were white giving each area a sense of space. Quite a change from the brown and beige common to most Embassy Suites.

Unfortunately due to the tyrannical Covid policies in the State of California the legendary buffet breakfast was replaced. Each day one was given a three dish option which changed daily. The breakfast was boxed and pre cooked. It was awful. Soggy eggs, limp bacon, tasteless potatoes etc. There was no milk nor boxed cereals. A minus for my granddaughter. Furthermore you could not use the numerous tables to eat and had to take such to your room.

Parking was expensive, $40.00 per day. However the valet staff were very courteous and helpful. The pools and gym were closed.

In sum, great rooms and location. However out of state visitors should be aware of the oppressive California Covid regulations. Wait until such laws are relaxed in California before coming.

First thanks to Iniego for finding my purse after we ate breakfast! What a kind and helpful man! Our stay was perfect. To the mom's out there...We have kids and they always complain about the pullout couch. This was the best pullout mattress we've ever had!! And it came with all of the sheets and blankets. The room was stocked with tons of pillows as well, another issue we usually face. The room was quiet and the beds were not too soft or firm. Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The location of this hotel is in perfect proximity to shopping, dining and just a few minutes away from Coronado Beachs. We used valet for our oversized truck. The valet staff and very efficient getting guest flowing in and out. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This hotel features spacious suites, nice views of the San Diego skyline (though their view of the bay is likely to be affected by the new construction across the street), a generous daily reception, and decent breakfast buffet. The bed was comfortable and the sofa bed is fine for kids, but most adults will prefer an actual bed. Having a table big enough to eat a meal around is a major plus when you just want to crash in your room after a long day, or if you prefer to minimize your potential exposure to disease during a pandemic.
The bathroom was the weakest part, ours had one of the sliding doors stuck in place with silicone despite the nicely designed rails for it to travel on which meant you'd have to get in the shower before you could turn on the water. The bath faucet had a very stiff knob to switch between bath and shower that would be a challenge for anyone with limited wrist or grip strength. The dumbest thing was the motion sensor for the bathroom light which left me in complete darkness every 3 minutes throughout my shower. And despite the fact that flat bottomed rectangular sinks are trendy, they are not very good at being sinks.
The location is very convenient for events at the grand Hyatt or convention center, seaport village is close but the gaslamp district is a bit of a walk (I would scooter or Uber if you can, avoid pedicabs since they will scam you). The pool was never too crowded, but there is no spa / hot tub.
Parking is valet only and $55/night, there's mandatory fee of $25/night which you can use towards food, nonalcoholic beverages, and items in the gift shop, and taxes add another $30-ish per night, but all hotels in the area apply parking fees and taxes so that's something to factor in. This hotel is not cheap but offers a lot for the price, only the bathroom left me unsatisfied.

The experience was pleasant from valet to the breakfast buffet. Everyone did their job with a smile and attentiveness. I have a family of 7 so things always tend to get a bit chaotic but the customer service helped elevate our experience. During the breakfast buffet Donna was so attentive to make sure our table was always clear as the kids would finish up their food and even became friends with one of my little ones.

We’ll be back again!

From my kids:

Upon arriving I had high hopes but as soon as I entered the room that changed. The couch had stains. The toilet was not properly cleaned. Hand soap is no longer available or you can purchase it for $10. Trying to communicate with housekeeping proved to be difficult. Either the front desk wasn’t answering or housekeeping did not respond to my text. On top of everything else my kids found someone’s underwear that was left in the room. I won’t stay here again.

This hotel is in a terrific location, next to the bay, Seaport Village, the USS Midway, etc. However, as a hotel itself, it is "OK" but not fantastic. However, the hotel room is large with plenty of room to spread out.

TIP: The hotel is undergoing renovations (as of Feb 2020). They work during "business hours" which did not disrupt us at all. Be sure to ask for a room that is aware from the renovation floors if you plan to be in the hotel during the daytime.
