Model Brinkley, attended her former husband Billy Joel’s show, and later posted clips of the pair’s daughter Alexa Ray Joel singing on stage with her dad.
But it was her reaction to Joel, 74, singing his iconic song that had fans captivated.
A fan captured Brinkley smiling broadly, singing along and dancing to her ex-husband’s hit “Uptown Girl,” as she appeared on a jumbo screen for the audience to see.
“Billy Joel wrote ‘Uptown Girl’ about his then-partner Christie Brinkley,” read text over the clip, posted to TikTok. “Tonight she watched him sing the song he wrote about her to all of Madison Square Garden.”
Brinkley and the “Piano Man” singer were married in 1985 and welcomed their daughter Alexa Ray Joel in 1985 before divorcing in 1994, but the fan noted Joel seems to enjoy the performance too.
In the caption of the video, the fan wrote: “40 years later and your ex man is still grinning at you like that while he sings the song he wrote about how rich and hot you are?”

Joel released the hit “Uptown Girl” in 1983. The lyrics describe a working-class “downtown man” attempting to woo a wealthy “uptown girl”.
There has long been speculation Joel wrote the song about model Elle Macpherson, who he dated prior to Brinkley.
Joel revealed in his biography “Billy Joel: The Definitive Biography” that he did initially pen “Uptown Girl” about “all the models in New York City”, but by the time the song hit the airwaves, it was only about one special model in particular. While the song was originally titled “Uptown Girls,” Joel explained that it changed to the singular reference once he began exclusively dating Brinkley.
Brinkley also starred in the song’s music video.
Joel has been married to his fourth wife, Alexis Roderick, since 2015. Brinkley’s fourth marriage, to architect Peter Cook, ended in a much-publicized 2008 divorce, and she recently told People magazine she is single.
Meanwhile, Brinkley recently revealed on her Instagram she was diagnosed with skin cancer while attending the checkup of one of her daughters.
While the doctor checked her daughter, Brinkley decided to ask him to take a quick look at her.
“The Doctor was looking at each freckle [of her daughter’s] with a magnifying glass. It wasn’t my appointment so I wasn’t going to say anything but at the VERY end I asked if he could just look at a little tiny dot I could feel as I applied my foundation . He took a look and knew immediately it needed a biopsy! He did it then and there!
The results showed it was basal cell Carcinoma.
Brinkley said her case was caught early. “And I had great doctors that removed the cancer and stitched me up to perfection like an haute couture Dior,” she wrote.
She went on to encourage her followers to keep up to date with their skin checks.
“Make your own good luck by making that check up appointment today,” she said.
