At the beginning of this book, the author promised a wild ride and cautioned the reader to hold on tight and she was so right! This is an action packed, suspenseful mystery that engaged me from start to finish as it began in Africa and continued to Alaska. The Alaskan setting seems to intensify the danger with the wild, secluded beauty and wildlife. Carrie James and her partner/protector, Isaac, moved to Alaska from Africa and own a flying service around the southeastern part of the state. Detective Trevor West, from Montana, hires Carrie to fly him around the area so that he can investigate his sister's disappearance, based on photos she left for Trevor. But someone doesn't want them to find answers and bad guys seem to be everywhere they go. Then it appears that maybe danger has followed Carrie. Or has it? With twists, turns, danger, and mystery, this is a great addition to the Missing in Alaska series. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys suspense with a touch of romance and faith.

In her prologue, Goddard writes, “I couldn’t write a story about a bush pilot in Alaska without taking my readers on a wild and crazy ride, so I invite you to strap in tight and hold on tight.” - Great advice!

We are presently in Alaska …again… because, like this book, I couldn’t pass on another opportunity for adventure and pristine wilderness. Both this trip and ‘Shadows At Dusk’ provided an inspirational adventure and rejuvenating quiet time.

In short: A missing person. A murder victim. And two hurting people seeking justice, connected in ways they could never imagine.

Montana Detective Trevor West arrives in Shadow Gap, a small town nestled in a fjord of the Alaskan Panhandle (SE Alaska) seeking answers. Police Chief Autumn Long suggests he hire an experienced bush pilot and points him towards Carrie James. When Carrie hears that West is searching for answers surrounding his sister’s death a year ago, she agrees to take him if he’ll agree to her stipulation: he must agree to the harrowing quest of tracking down Carrie’s friend’s killer. Determined, the two join forces and head off with minimal clues - it’s a wild ride!

Staying on course is something you’d expect from an experienced bush pilot. However, standing in Carrie’s shoes, I realized that it’s not so easy when there’s a ruggedly handsome detective sitting beside you taking up space in a small plane. The interplay between these two with tragic pasts is heartwarming. The reader knows that they need to trust each other before (1) healing can begin and before (2) they can complete their mission. Waiting for the connection and trust to build was a wonderful part of this story and gave me pause to collect my breath from the wild ride.

The adrenaline-fuelled adventure fed my need for a fast-paced story and satisfied my inner sleuth, while the faith aspect provided ample reflection and introspection. I absolutely loved being able to identify with the characters’ spiritual struggles and loved that they included God in their quest.

“𝑮𝒐𝒅, 𝑰’𝒎 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒍, 𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏’𝒕 𝑰? 𝑰’𝒗𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓. 𝑰’𝒎 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖.” - Trevor

The romance warmed my heart and I loved the message about forgiveness, redemption, and hope. Goddard has the perfect recipe for this series and I can’t wait for book three.

My personal Rating- Three Stars

Like I said in my review of the first book of this series, Alaska wilderness stories aren’t really my thing. I’m not sure if it’s the wilderness aspect or the fact I’m not made for cold weather (or a mix of both), but despite those reasons, I wanted to try out this second book since I’ve enjoyed a couple other books by this author before.

The verdict? Not bad, but it’s definitely a three-star book for me, personally. I did find some parts to be a quite sad, though, I think I’m extra sensitive to others’ grief, especially regarding siblings. The author kept the plot moving and action-packed, which helped the book not feel depressingly heavy.

One thing I liked was that we see the big betrayal for Carrie that’s mentioned on the back cover in the prologue, so there’s no wondering or hinting about what it was—unlike the prior book of the series with Autumn’s backstory. Now, that said, we are told a bit of Trevor’s past and it’s a bomb that’s just dropped on the page and it didn’t really add much to the story, in my opinion. On the note of Trevor and Carrie, I wasn’t a big fan of the romance, but I’m learning that I’m picky nowadays with the romantic content in my romantic suspense books. At least there wasn’t too many horribly timed kisses like I’ve ranted about before for this genre! I thought it was funny to see Trevor even think about a dangerous time not being the time to kiss her and also the comments about how they’re interested in each other, but haven’t know each other for long and in stressful situations, which isn’t the best for starting out on a relationship with someone. It felt like poking fun at all the books that do do that, which I honestly found humous to see.

Overall, this wasn’t bad and while it was suspenseful, it had a major lack of finding dead bodies or gore/blood, which I appreciate. It might not be a new favorite for me, but I can see Older Teens that enjoy suspense and are interested in Alaska-themed stories enjoy this one.

Alaska, where it is easy for someone to disappear. For bush pilot Carrie James, her life depends on staying under the radar. She is hiding from her past and those who would see her dead. Detective Trevor West is looking for his missing sister. After a year of dead end clues, he finally has something to go on. Since Carrie knows the area of Alaska well, she agrees to fly Trevor to several spots depicted in photos his sister left for him.
In such a rugged and remote area beauty is all around and danger is not far away. Ms. Goddard excels in awe-inspiring descriptions of the scenery and exciting plot lines that hardly leave you time to catch your breath.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” from Isaiah is a verse that Carrie came to rely on as she experienced many trials. Both she and Trevor kept their prayers frequent. The attraction progressed somewhat quickly, although Carrie and Trevor both had trust issues which prevented declaring themselves too soon.
The geological aspect was interesting and the direction the search took was surprising.
Fasten your seatbelts-It’s going to be a bumpy flight!

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour.."
Isaiah 43:2-3 KJV

This book was absolutely brilliant!
I seriously loved the previous book, "Cold Light of Day", but this book is even better if that's possible!

The story was a complex one, with lots of twists and turns, red herrings and few clues as to who was the true culprit. It constantly kept me guessing, and I so appreciate that in a story. The romance was sweet, clean and well-written, and the final scene was so satisfying!

Kudos to the author on a great book, I can't wait to read the next one!!

After his sister has been missing for a year, Detective Trevor West is given a new lead. Last seen in a remote region of Alaska, the police chief recommends a bush pilot to help get him there. Carrie James is still in hiding, hoping her traumatic past is behind her, until it isn't. The two cases intersect and they're caught trying to get ahead of those following them.

Given the trauma she's experienced, Carrie finds purpose in her work. After losing the most important people in her life, this seemed to drive her toward helping find the missing sister. While some of the danger scenes seem a bit implausible, the scenes were well written. His fear of flying is a comical touch.

This is a second book in the series and you briefly meet some of the characters from the first book, but it can be read as a standalone.

Happy Release Day!

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot of this book, which was full of intense moments. When I thought Trevor and Carrie might be out of danger, the author added a new twist, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The vivid descriptions of Alaska's settings were particularly impressive, just like in the first book.

The two main characters were likable, but both dealt with personal losses. Trevor was desperate to find his missing sister, who disappeared in Alaska over a year ago. Meanwhile, Carrie was grieving the death of her closest friend, who was also the only person she could trust. Carrie agreed to help Trevor find his sister, but only if he helped her track down her friend's killer. The suspenseful elements of the story started right from the beginning, which I appreciated. The book was a perfect blend of suspense, faith, adventure, danger, and romance, and I highly recommend it—content: Christian Romance, kissing only.

A special thanks to Revell and NetGalley for the eARC of Shadows at Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard, in exchange for an honest review.

“…I can’t think of anyone who might be after me, except the man who killed me.“

Whew. I think I can relax now that I’ve read the last page of Shadows at Dusk, the newest riveting romantic suspense from Elizabeth Goddard. Maybe. But given how many times I thought that while reading the book, I’m not entirely sure I should quit looking over my shoulder now either.

The opening prologue is… well… killer. And it certainly grabbed my attention and locked it in for the rest of the book. I literally couldn’t have put down this story if I’d wanted to (which I didn’t) because I had to – HAD TO – find out how in the world Carrie (great name for a heroine!) and Trevor were going to get out of this alive. Both of them must have a bit of inner cat, given how many lives they use up during this story, but I wasn’t 100% convinced they would both survive – despite the fact that it’s a romance and I generally trust those to have a happy ending. But this is also an Alaskan suspense novel where ‘unpredictable’ reigns and, given a few other surprising twists, well, I just wasn’t sure how it would all play out in the end. Needless to say, the author does a fabulous job of keeping the suspense level high, the danger coming, and readers like me on the edge of our seats!

Bottom Line: The Alaskan wilderness, with all its dangerous beauty, is the perfect backdrop for Shadows at Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard. Carrie and Trevor are drawn into its rugged depths on a mission to find Trevor’s sister and to stay alive in the process, two things that prove more difficult than they had anticipated. I loved these two layered characters, and I loved watching them get to know each other, trust each other, and fall in love. They are both very heroic characters, but also relatably human. The faith message – that God is with us when we pass through the difficult seasons of life that crash over us – is solid and flows naturally from the characters and their situations, without being preachy or forced. I cannot wait for book three in this captivating missing persons series of books!

This novel starts off spectacularly in the Prologue! One of the best prologues I've read.

Montana Detective Trevor West travels to Alaska to search for his missing, and by many presumed dead, sister. His time is limited so he is focused on looking for clues more so than enjoying the scenery or exchanging pleasantries with the locals.

Bush Pilot Carrie James may be compelled to help Trevor find his sister, but she's excited to be headed to Texas to visit a friend she hasn't seen in years. And then multiple tragedies strike.

Plenty of action as Trevor and Carrie work together to solve more than one crime. Look forward to the conclusion to the series!

My gratitude to publisher Revell for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

Another wonderfully written, action packed romantic suspense from Ms. Goddard! In this second book in the Missing in Alaska series, Carrie is a pilot in Shadow Gap, ferrying passengers around Alaska, delivering supplies to residents living in remote areas, and whatever else is needed of her. When Trevor arrives in Alaska looking for answers to his sister’s disappearance, Chief Autumn Long, the heroine of the first book, recommends Carrie as a guide. Carrie is reluctant, as she’s about to leave for a long awaited vacation, and despite being intrigued by Trevor, she refers him to another local pilot. But when Carrie’s business partner, mentor, and best friend is murdered, her whole life is turned upside down, for the second time.

I really liked and admired Carrie. Ten years ago she miraculously survived an attack on her life, and still carries the emotional and physical scars. She’s worked hard to overcome adversity, and flying brings her peace and comfort. I loved Trevor. He uprooted his own life to help his sister escape an abusive marriage, and thought she’d created a good life for herself, only to have her disappear without a trace on a vacation to Alaska, leaving only a handful of photos for Trevor to decipher.

So we have two mysteries running concurrently as it becomes clear that someone does not want Trevor investigating his sister’s disappearance, and it becomes clear that someone is trying to kill Carrie. I love an Alaskan setting. The wild land, the mountains, the seclusion, all lend themselves to the perfect backdrop for mystery, suspense, action, danger, and survival. But we also get an engaging story and great character studies of Carrie and Trevor and what drives them. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

An intriguing continuation to the Missing in Alaska series!

Both Trevor and Carrie were sympathetic characters whose backstories added to the plot. I enjoyed seeing them work together to solve the mysteries of who was after Carrie and what had happened to Trevor's sister. Their developing romance was sweet as well.

The plot moved along at a good clip. Books set in Alaska always have some interesting survival moments. I appreciated that Elizabeth Goddard kept both the romance and language clean, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Overall, Shadows at Dusk was an exciting read that I'd recommend to those who enjoy Christian fiction and romantic suspense.

Settle in for this action-packed, suspenseful journey that I couldn’t put this nail-biting adventure story down. My heart instantly went out to Carrie James who was betrayed in the worst way. It was so unexpected that this novel would transport readers from Africa to remote areas of the stunning state of Alaska. After successfully hiding from her past, in walks Montana Detective Treavor West, he seeks her help in tracking down a lead about the disappearance of his sister. He hopes Carrie will help him in pursuing the few leads he has.

Carrie Is trying to track down the lead with Treaver and not be distracted by his blue eyes. They had a job to do. She had to remain concentrated on the mission, not the handsome man. Treavor and Carrie lack the tools necessary to deal with the danger that surrounds them on all sides. Both the reader and the characters are unsure of their prospects for survival. I like how the author threw in lots of twists and turns, which made This a page-turning novel.

I admire the author’s ability to craft a compelling mystery that is laced with a subtle spiritual undertone, a touch of romance, and potentially dangerous drama. If you enjoy reading romantic suspense that involves solving intriguing mysteries, apprehending murderers, tearing apart webs of corruption and greed, and pursuing justice for all, then this is the book for you.

This is a book you won’t soon forget. It’s one that would be great for your next book club pick. I’m looking forward to the author’s next exciting adventure in Alaska.

The setting in the wilds of Alaska invited me into the pages of this book and the plot and characters kept me there all the way to the end. The premise is that Trevor West, a detective from Montana, arrives in Alaska with the sole purpose of finding out what happened to his missing sister Jennifer. Jennifer left behind photos but no other clues about her strange disappearance, so Trevor seeks the help of intrepid bush pilot Carrie James. Carrie has just suffered a devastating loss when her mechanic and best friend Isaac is murdered, so she agrees to help Trevor follow the clues in the photos if he will help her find who killed Isaac. The hunt is on, for Jennifer and for Isaac’s murderer, but it is not without peril to the determined duo. Just when I thought things were calming down, something else happened to bring danger closer to both Carrie and Trevor and anyone whom they question. Something strange is going on in the wilderness and the trail these two follow is scattered with bread crumbs and false leads. The plot is fast-paced and heart-in-your-throat thrilling as they get closer to the bad guys who are set on taking them out before their deeds are uncovered. The plot is believable and completely engrossing, with an addictive mystery as well as a developing romance. I enjoyed getting to know Trevor and Carrie, but I especially enjoyed some of the native characters like Elias and Rip, men who are not afraid of danger or taking chances to help others. There is an underlying faith element in the story that is the glue that holds it together as the lives of the main characters are being ripped apart. The plot threads are intricate and masterfully woven together into the stunning landscape of Alaska. With sharp writing and authentically riveting details, the author tells a story that is rich and intriguing. I cannot wait for the next book in the Missing In Alaska series, although each book can definitely be read as a standalone.

I love Alaska! Don't you?

Ok, I've never ACTUALLY been there, but after reading Shadows at Dusk, I FEEL like I have. I mean, it'd be great if there was no one following me and trying to kill me, but I'll take Alaska any way I can get it! This state fascinates me, and it was pretty eye-opening to see how disconnected much of it actually is. I mean, I know it is, but to actually "be" there in the book made it all the more real.

This book is edge-of-your-seat suspense, from the very first page. I loved Trevor and Carrie together, both of them overcoming significant traumatic events from their pasts. I also liked the brief appearances of some of the characters from the first book, but these could easily be standalone reads.

If you want to visit Alaska, I highly recommend this book. Just maybe try to evade those pesky murderers while you're there!

Shadows at Dusk was such an action packed adventure! Trevor and Carrie were individuals who had both been deeply hurt in the past by people who should have loved them. Carrie’s hurts were both emotional and physical, while Trevor’s were emotional. It set these two up to be wary of trusting each other at first. But it was so nice to see some of those walls between them slowly come down.

This story follows Carrie and Trevor as they search for answers not only regarding Trevor’s missing sister, but also looking into the murder of Carrie’s friend. They are both very determined to find the answers they need. I was a bit frustrated that Carrie held back information from her past for quite a while, however, I could understand her reasoning, as well.

I enjoyed the feeling of being dropped into the vast, wild Alaskan frontier. The various small towns tucked into the wild were rough and the people wary of strangers. It added a lot of mystery to their ongoing search.

Even though this is book two in the series, it easily stands on its own.

I love reading books set in Alaska and this story takes you on the path less traveled. The book starts with a bang and you can't help but turn the pages late into the night. The characters are real and interesting. The setting is terrific and the plot keeps you hooked until the last page. I really enjoyed imagining the flying over the wilderness with Trevor and Carrie. There is a romance plot thread but it wasn't the main point of the book and honestly I think it would have been good without it. The suspense was really well written and I enjoyed it immensely. I think this is the author's best book yet!

Five Stars.

There is so much to love about this new series by Elizabeth Goddard. Set in Alaska, Goddard takes us on a fast paced adventure with a strong female lead. I really enjoyed both main characters, Carrie James the bush pilot and Trevor West the detective. Both of these had interesting and well thought out back stories. I was very interested in Carrie's back story and would have enjoyed more chapters devoted to it. At times, some of the story felt a bit rushed and a little confusing, and I think this could have been solved by giving us (the readers) a bit more time in Carrie's back story. She is such an interesting character and I liked her a lot!
I think fans of Christian suspense will enjoy this new series by Goddard. I really appreciated the clean romance, even if it felt a little cheesy at times.

Adventure and danger, resilience and romance... this page-turner covers all the bases for fans of romantic suspense!
Except for a spine-chilling scenario in Africa at the start of the book, the story is set in the wild beauty of Alaska and follows book 1 in the "Missing in Alaska" series. In saying that, Shadows at Dusk can be read as a stand-alone title as it focuses on two new characters: Montana Detective Trevor West and bush pilot Carrie James.
Trevor is desperate to find his sister, who went missing in Alaska the previous year, and he enlists the help of Carrie as his pilot. Carrie is dealing with her own mix of grief and trauma, yet together they embark upon a thrilling, complex, unexpected ride to find truth and bring justice.

If you are a fan of Christian fiction, suspense, or mystery thrillers, you must read Shadows at Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard. Dive into the pages of this five-star treasure and let it be your gateway to a tale brimming with strength, resilience, and unwavering determination!

I was immediately swept away by the captivating narrative and the well-crafted characters. Carrie and Trevor, the main characters, passionately pursue justice with remarkable resilience mirroring the rugged Alaskan landscape -- finding ways to thrive amidst severe adversity.

Elizabeth Goddard’s writing in “Shadows at Dusk” is a masterclass in crafting atmospheric and suspenseful Christian fiction. She seamlessly weaves the rugged beauty of the Alaskan elements and territory into the intricate emotional landscapes of her characters, creating an impressive novel that is both breathtaking and heart-stirring.

I received an eARC of Shadows at Dusk from Revell and NetGalley. I am neither obligated to write a positive review nor compensated for doing so. What you have just read reflects my genuine assessment and authentic sentiments of this Christian mystery thriller.

Shadows at Dusk is the second book in the Missing in Alaska series and here we meet Trevor West who is in search of his missing sister. In the process he meets Carrie James who is a bush pilot willing to help him. She agrees to do this only if he will help her track down the man who murdered her close friend.

Not sure if it was my reading mood but I hate to admit that this was not my favorite Elizabeth Goddard book. It was hard to get into the book. I found it a bit slow in parts. There were suspenseful parts but I feel like it took a bit long to get there. I also felt like the romance between Trevor and Carrie moved a bit fast for the circumstances that they were under.

I will say that was plenty of adventure and action throughout the story and it was nice to see characters from the previous book in this one.

If you enjoy action packed storylines then this may just be the series for you!

Shadows at Dusk is the second book in Elizabeth Goddard's Missing in Alaska series. However, it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.

The prologue was intense and immediately grabbed my attention. The next few chapters were difficult for me to follow. They alternated perspectives between Carrie and Trevor and were different locations in Alaska. Once they met, the story intersected, and it was easier to follow.

Carrie has an incredible backstory. It is easy to see why she struggles with trust and is fiercely independent. When she loses her best friend, she has to put aside her trust issues and rely on Trevor for help.

Trevor has his own agenda. He is looking for his missing sister, Jennifer. Her last known location is Alaska. Going on Chief Long's recommendation, Trevor asks Carrie for her help. While she is resistant at first, her loss seals the deal.

The stakes are high, and bad guys abound. The Alaskan wilderness might just prove deadly. Carrie and Trevor struggle to stay ahead of the bad guys as the clues mount and point them to a location no one wants to go.

Thank you to Revell for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Shadows at Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard is the second book in the Missing in Alaska series. Honestly, this book wasn’t it for me, it took me a while to get into this story. I did enjoy the descriptions of the Alaskan setting. One of the reasons I didn’t enjoy this read is, I didn’t connect with the characters. There was no depth to them and one thing I really don’t like is when characters are put into risk and/or danger due to their illogical or irrational thinking and that was the case here. Once or twice, I can understand but these characters continued to do this, acknowledged they knew their mistakes but didn’t seem to learn from them. Another reason I didn’t love this story was the romance, the characters fell in love way too quickly for my liking. I know they had a past, but I just feel it was forced/rushed and not realistic. I feel like this story could have more depth to it and the overall plot just didn’t do it for me.

Shadows at Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard is book two in her Missing in Alaska romantic suspense series from Revell.

I’ve been looking forward to this book since we first met Detective Trevor West in the previous series set in Montana. I liked his character, and liked him even more as I read this book. He was real, kind, and determined.

I also liked bush pilot Carrie James. She faced a difficult past and I liked how that strength showed through. Her independence was relatable and I loved how Trevor was able to sneak past those walls. It made for a solid type of relationship. The type where two people knew they could count on one another no matter what life threw at them. I loved that.

And the mystery/suspense side of the story was fascinating! So many twists and turns, not to mention danger. If you love romantic suspense, don’t miss this one. It’s a wonderful read!

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this cover! I was hooked! I'm a lover of beautiful book covers and this one is my favorite by far.
This is a fast paced novel that will have you turning the pages from beginning til the end. Yes, some of it is a nail biting experience too. It's for this reason that I loved this book.
I do have some favorite scenes but I don't want to give them away.
I love that Carrie is a pilot and a good one too. She is my favorite character.
I love her personality and willingness to help others.
Here's a quote that I loved more than anything because it came from the man that I've come to admire and respect just like Carrie does.
“Focus on what you’ve always done, Carrie—caring for others— and you’ll heal on the inside, just like you have on the outside.”
I enjoyed this read so very much! I finished it in one day it was so good!
I feel like Goddard is at her very best here. I do love her books but I think this one will be my favorite!
Here's another quote because it's true but at times I find hard to accept
"Everything happens for a reason it's not ours to ask why."
God does everything in His own timing
Not for us to question Him.
I am giving this book 5 stars for the excellent writing and storytelling.
I highly recommend!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

Carrie James is a local pilot and has been in Alaska for ten years with her closest friend. She finds him dead and knows he was murdered. Detective Trevor West is in Montana searching for his missing sister. She went missing last year, and he now has a new lead in the case.
Trevor asked Carrie to help him with his sisters' case and Carrie wants him to look into her friend's case.
Years ago, in Africia Carrie was pushed from a plane by her fiancé and left for dead. Trevor's sister was in Alaska working on a whistleblower case and never returned.
As they make their search for answers danger is following him at every stop along the way.
This was a great suspense book and I just loved the twist and turns.

Engaging, action-filled story. Little bit of faith content, non-sappy attraction between main characters. Enjoyed the read!

Missing in Alaska book #2

Detective Trevor West’s sister went missing in Alaska a year ago and he is desperate to finding her. She left a few photographs as clue to her whereabouts and needs the help of an experience pilot to track her down. The best resource is Carrie James who knows the area like the palm of her hand. ....and the adventure begins.

I received this Arc from the publisher Revell via Netgalley for my thoughts and I am glad to share them with you. Ms. Goddard is one of the authors I like to follow. .She writes with a steady hand and knows how to spin an interesting tale filled with suspense and thrills. Along the way a bit of love attraction never hurts and she does that with aplomb and taste. The dynamic between the main characters is cute and well-done. I really like how Carrie and Trevor interact. The suspense doesn’t stay to one case, Carrie has her own agenda, she needs to find who may have killed her closest friend and bring the killer to justice. As the two close in on the answers...they face dangers and connections they could not have imagined. What a wild ride we are into flying the sky of Alaska while moments later we are deep into caves with crumbling walls and miners (bad guys) plotting to blow up the shafts and the whole mining camp. The action is so exciting...I couldn’t help but flip the pages furiously (Ok, a bit heavy). Ms. Goddard vivid and colourful words bring her stories to life and make them believable.

This enjoyable story is a blend of suspense, faith, adventure, danger and romance.

As is typical of Elizabeth Goddard’s books, this one starts strong and doesn’t let up! It’s a complex mystery with plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing, suspense and intensity to keep me turning pages, and emotion and chemistry between characters to keep me engaged. Excellent story with lots of action and plenty of questions. A definite winner and great continuation of the Missing in Alaska series!
