Cher's Son Elijah Blue Allman Steps Out in Rare Appearance with Wife at Comedy Show amid Conservatorship Drama

Elijah Blue Allman and his wife, Marieangela "Queeny" King, made a rare public appearance on Monday amid his mother Cher's ongoing legal case requesting a conservatorship over her son.

Allman and King attended Christine Peake's comedy show to benefit Breast Cancer Bandit at Hotel Ziggy in West Hollywood. A source tells PEOPLE that Allman appeared healthy and in good spirits as he and King mingled with some of the performing comedians and DJ Paul Oakenfold.

While chatting with other event attendees, King was heard saying that she and Allman have "never been stronger." After the show, King could be heard remarking, "that’s what we needed, to be around friends and laugh."

Allman and King's date night comes after the former's request to dismiss his divorce was granted by a Los Angeles County judge. Allman first filed for divorce from King, 36, in 2021 after tying the knot in December 2013. They've since reconciled amid legal drama with Cher.

Cher's recent ex parte motion that Allman be placed in a temporary emergency conservatorship due to his alleged mental health and substance abuse issues was just denied by a judge last week.

In a filing objecting to Cher's request obtained by PEOPLE, Allman wrote that he and King were "reconciling and cohabitating" — and noted that Cher, 77, “objects to my reconciliation with Marieangela.” As a result, he wrote, she “refused” to pay his family law counsel.

The judge ruled against Cher’s proposed injunction because Allman has proved “he has managed his finances” and "has remained drug free” after multiple drug tests were administered. The next hearing in the case is set for March.

In her initial December 2023 filing, Cher requested the temporary conservatorship over her son's estate as the sole conservator, claiming that he was "substantially unable to manage his financial resources." The conservatorship request came months after court documents revealed that King claimed Cher once had Allman forcibly removed from a hotel room.

Regarding the abduction allegations, Cher exclusively told PEOPLE in October “that rumor is not true” and declined to comment further. But she confirmed that the private family matter is related to her son’s ongoing addiction issues.

“I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” Cher said of watching her son’s yearslong struggles with substance abuse at the time. “I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.” 

Allman — who is professionally known as P. Exeter Blue — is a musician and one of the founding members of the metal band Deadsy. The group released two studio albums: Commencement in 2002 and Phantasmagore in 2006. Allman, whose father was Cher's ex Gregg Allman, has also collaborated with 30 Seconds to Mars, Sugar Ray, Coal Chamber and more.
