Glenville, NY - Michael Dexter Green, 68 years old, passed away on May 6, 2022 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, NY. Michael battled Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease for several years. In the past month, he was stricken with COVID and recurrent pneumonia. He was the husband of Mary Kate Green. They shared 42 ¾ wonderful years of marriage together.

Born in Rotterdam, NY he was the son of Dexter and Frances Green. He graduated from Mohonasen High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Schenectady County Community College.

During his lifetime, Michael held various positions including pharmacy manager, sales representative, business owner, and auto body manager. In 2014, Michael decided he wanted to make a real difference in people’s lives, so he became a driver for developmentally disabled adults at the Wildwood Program. This was his most fulfilling line of work.

Throughout his life, Michael was an athlete and avid sports fan. He grew up bowling, golfing, playing baseball and basketball. Michael’s favorite team was the Yankees, despite trying out for the Chicago White Sox Minor league team. As an adult he resumed softball, bowling, and basketball in recreational leagues. Michael’s love of sports continued on in coaching his daughters in soccer and basketball, where he touched the lives of many young athletes. If he wasn’t coaching, Michael was on the sidelines as a supportive spectator; never missing a game. Once his daughter’s moved on to college sports, Michael wanted to continue making a difference and began refereeing high school soccer and basketball.

Michael put his family first; he would do anything to make sure they were taken care of and happy. He was their biggest supporter and cheerleader for anything in life. Michael is survived by the love of his life Mary Kate, daughter Stefanie (Matt) Morici, grandchildren Jack Michael (5) and Noah James (1) Morici, son-in-law Mark Conroy and grandson Donovan Thomas James (6). He was predeceased by his parents Dexter and Frances Green, mother and father-in-law James and M. Jeanne Collins, and his adoring daughter Jennifer Nicole Conroy (38).

Michael will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was the best husband, father, father-in- law, papa, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, godfather, colleague, and friend. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, patience, unwavering kindness, and friendliness to all. Michael had a contagious smile; he made everybody around him happy. He left the best qualities about him behind, living on in his three grandsons.

Mary Kate would like to thank all the neighbors, friends, and family who provided love and support throughout Michael’s illness. A special thanks to our “second family”, Michael’s caregivers at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center for their exemplary care and friendship. From the administrative team (Anthony, Barb, Katie) to the nurses (Melissa, Kristy, Ronaldo, Karen, Cynthia, Tish, Sara, Shakwona) nursing assistants (Michelle, Ena, Hannah, Herman, Antonio, Eric, Jolene, Danaija, Lisa) and the therapists (Marcin, Alecia, Mary, Krissy) as well as numerous others, everyone was compassionate and provided Michael with the love and attention he needed and deserved.
