My husband and I reserved a table here for my birthday and we had the most splendid experience. Our server was delightfully knowledgeable and we felt like we were on a tour of the Basque region with all the lovely and unique ingredients. I highly...recommend the Galerna experience to any and all future patrons.More

We were there this evening, the last day of this season until they reopen again December 2nd so I can describe some of the dishes that stood out. The Vainilla ice cream with caviar was probably the best, and the smoked trout with roe, as...well as the ortiguilla and the steak tartar with cocoa beans. Tonight they only offered the testing menu at 82 euros. The menu consisted of about 12 dishes , which are two- bite sized for the most part, the presentation was very nice and the service caring and capable. There is no wine list so if you don't order the wine paring they just bring you a bottle of their choice without disclosing the price or giving you a choice. The restaurant is small but very pleasant . I didn't give them a higher rating for three reasons, they don't show prices for anything ; I found some of the sauces way too heavy; and it is hard to remember the explanation of the dishes so they should provide a little "cheat sheet" so you can remember each dish. I hope they take this constructive criticism as a suggestion to do even better. It shows that this is somebody's dream, a labor of love , and they just need a few minor improvements to make it great.More

Phantastic regional selected top food in fine , refined combinations - really outstanding and innovative. Helpful, warm and family like service. It's an unassuming space. Low key, casual, which contrasts with the food. We met the chef/owner (Rebekah) who is passionate about food and despite being busy, was happy to talk about various ingredients in the courses. The current offering is a 14 course degustation, the...first 6 come out all at once. All very tasty, one mouthful size each. And pretty to look at. Degustation menus, especially when so many courses, make it very difficult to remember what you ate. Instead the whole experience becomes critical in your perception. But one very interesting, surprising and delicious ingredient (in one of the desserts) was plankton. That was new to me (then a quick search to find out more). We shared a wine pairing, as generally the amount is enough for both of us. The price for the wine pairing wasn't obvious and at €80 was quite expensive and it would have been good to know this beforehand. We would have likely had some wines by the glass. It was a lovely experience and worth a visit, especially if Degustation menus are your thing.More

A small family group ate here last Friday. From our arrival we were looked after very attentively and politely with everything carefully explained. The food was so cleverly compiled and presented with pure clean flavours and unusual combinations, and a great reggae soundtrack at just...the right volume.More

This restaurant offers a tasting menu for 89€ - which seems low given the quality of ingredients. I thought each dish was delicious in and of itself but I did feel they used ice cream in one two many dishes. I think of the 11...course it was in 4, maybe 5. I also have a shrimp allergy so there was a dish we got without shrimp but it felt like a repeat of an earlier dish rather than a different dish to eat. I agree with others that not having a wine list is a bit frustrating- they kept bringing wines for me to try and I didn’t like several. Instead I would have liked to tell them what I enjoy and have them make a recommendation. The service overall was very good - but a few misses will keep it from getting Michelin star. They didn’t clear the table of bread crumbs after the meal and they double charged for the wines. The space is not pretentious and the food really does speak for itself. It was delicious. Very clever and very tasty. I think if they take off ice cream from a dish or two it will help.More

Booked this restaurant 6 weeks prior to our trip to San Sebastián and specifically informed them of my partner’s dietary requirements. Took three days to “approve” our reservation. The day of our reservation, six weeks later, I receive a call from a member of their...staff telling us they were canceling our reservation because my partner doesn’t eat meat or cheese (she eats fish, seafood and all other dairy). You heard that right, the day of our booking! So I can only assume the chef is incompetent or lazy, probably both. How this place received a bib in the Michelin guide is a mystery.More

This was an excellent experience in such a small restaurant. The selection of dishes presented for the degustation menu were many and varied. All were very tasty and each had a story. The wines that were paired with the meal were also excellent. Being a...small restaurant the service was very personalised but efficient.More

The food was great and the presentation was excellent. They didn’t have a wine list, which was a bit annoying and after they suggested a few bottles that none of us liked, my one friend asked to go see the wine collection so we could...choose something we would like. The service was good and friendly and the chef came to our table to ensure we found a wine we liked. I have a dietary restriction which the restaurant knew about well in advance and to my huge disappointment I was served the same dish twice instead of given a substitute. This was a first for me as I’ve eaten tons of tasting menus that had dishes that I couldn’t eat and I have always been given a substitute. It put a damper on an otherwise nice meal. Reasonably priced at 89 Euro per person.More

We had a lot of fun eating the tasting menu. A lot of thought had been given to the individual dishes. The food was experimental and brave and tasted incredible. The staff explained each course and were very friendly and happy to recommend wines throughout....The chef also popped out of the kitchen to check in - which was a very nice touch. Highly recommend.More

Having spent time researching the best dinner spots in San Sebastián, booked a table and having received a confirmation email from the restaurant we were understandably excited for our dinner at Galerna. The host was clearly not interested in receiving guests on this particular evening....Before we began to offer our name for the reservation she exclaimed ‘NO’. We presented the reservation email confirmation but she implied it was illegitimate. Despite her undeserved, abrasive and business-sinking attitude, we tried to rectify the situation. In the end it became clear the two sorry looking occupied tables were enough for one evenings takings and she had no interest in fulfilling our anticipated dinner reservation. Fortunately, the interior was basic (think Premier Inn but more laminated wood and faux flowers) and we found a beautiful pintxo bar around the corner where we could dine al fresco. If you enjoy beastly service this is the restaurant for you.More

Went for the tasting menu and we were not dissapointed. It was a 3 hour long culinary adventure that combined classic flavours and innovative preparations. This was our 4th time at this place and won´t be the last. Great service and great wine recommendations.

First visit on our final night in San Sebastián. Tasting menu was exciting, lots of locally sourced ingredients and interesting takes on nature. All courses were excellent, my favourites being Deer and Octopus. The waitresses/partner of the team was superb, exceptionally friendly and helpful. Who...worked tirelessly all evening. Extensive choice of wines. We met the chef at the end of the evening. Would recommend.More

For us this was 1-Michelin star experience. We had monday lunch and were only customers which lead to absolute perfect service and taste. True 2,5 hour food adventure we started with recommended absolutely perfect cava and actually continued with that because it suited perfectly with...starting dishes and for next. 15 courses in total and no drops with any dish at all, only difference with my kids was whale -plated did not hit them but for me it was full of flavor and excellent. Totally different unexpected journey of tastes which i Love. She is such a kind and lovely person. I would say that this really was worth of price, really! We loved this and hoping to be back next time! Muchas Grazias!More

A small restaurant with a young team delivering incredible food and service. First visited in 2019 and if anything even better. Tasting menu is extraordinary with flavours that surprise- innovative cooking using surprising ingredients of the sea. Visually the food is stunning; and the taste...is great. We took recommendations for wines and there is also a menu with wine pairings. Owners/chefs Rebeka and Luis are friendly, enthusiastic and informative. There is no pretension - just a love for great food. It is incredible that this restaurant does not have a Michelin star - easily of that standard.More
