It was ok as city markets go. If you live in the area, there's lot of fresh produce and it looked pretty good. If you are from out of town, well, there's not much there for you but to look around a bit. I went in early October 2020 and the place was crowded. I didn't stay long as it appeared to be the next COVID hotspot to me. People were not socially distancing at all. They were wearing masks but my prediction is that unfortunately Detroit will see a spike in its COVID numbers in the near future. I'd personally recommend you stay away until next year. Aside from the pandemic problem, the market was ok.

Very easy to find free parking on the street after 12 noon. No sure what it would be like in the earlier hours when Market opens at 6 am. Very busy, very colorful, a lot of friendly outdoor vendors to choose from if you're looking for fresh flowers, clothing, or jewelry, etc. Inside the warehouses are fresh meat shops, fresh fruits and vegetables, etc. We weren't looking for anything in particular but will remember this district if needing to buy anything in these categories in bulk. Not a lot of cooked food to choose from, I think they'd benefit from a few food trucks but that would probably attract insects and need constant cleaning as people these days have little regard for cleaning up after themselves! We enjoyed the atmosphere, there were several street musicians and we stopped to listen to the outdoor musician at the busy Bert's Warehouse. That looked like a fun place to stop and enjoy drinks and a meal.

Great indoor market in the city of Detroit. Historical buildings, street art, a lot of immigrants nowadays from Africa, replacing those from Eastern Europe e century ago. I tried the pastry stuffed with cheddar and butternut, in building 3, quite interesting. Free parking.

My good fiend told me his father started coming to the Eastern Market in 1936. It was our first time visiting Detroit and the Eastern Market exceeded our expectations. This is a must see historic market. We spent a wonderful time visiting all of the vendor stands and tasting some awesome meats, cheeses and fruits. Something for everyone here. Locals know to bring their baskets and wagons to bring home their goodies!

This extensive open-air market was full of amazing plants and flowers when we visited on a May weekend. It gets very crowded and parking is tough, so go early. There are a few stalls selling local prepared foods and local produce.

Eastern market has been a true Detroit gem for a long time and it just keeps getting better. It is a great place to go wander around looking for one of a kind/local food and items and then end your trip with a meal and a drink at one of the many local restaurants etc. right by the market. Great way to spend a Saturday.

Cute farmers market just outside the city of Detroit. Merchants mainly sell farm-grown vegetables, flowers, plants, and some small crafts. Biggest downside is parking - spots are limited and the market is always incredibly packed. Upside is that all the shops and foodie-favorite spots in downtown Detroit are just minutes away to enjoy after.

If I lived here I would definitely buy all my produce and meat here. Lots of homemade foods from local vendors. Bought some candy and popcorn. It was really good. Wanted to go to the antique place by here but couldn't find it. But what we did find were 2 local breweries that were very nice. I especially liked the German one, Lager 42, I believe.

Wonderful stop for site seeing and buying fresh foods.. great market that is huge. So many great finds. Great area for food trucks and fresh vegetables and flowers too. Plan on at least an hour if not more to walk through and see everything. Parking is every where and Saturday gets crowded. But a great stop even visiting Detroit

We had a wonderful tour of the Eastern Market area. Our tour guides, Lori and Bonnie were full of information of the area. They gave history of the area and all the things happening there today. Would highly recommend this tour

Are you asking about Flower Day? Check their website. Also be aware you need to get there VERY early and it is quite crowded. They have plants and flowers every other spring and summer weekend too and prices are great!

Are the vendors out on Sunday's?

The market on Sunday is different from the one on Saturday. You find the traditional Farmer's Market. Instead you'll find a market devoted to such things as local artists, including jewelers and musicians, along with things of a cooking nature.

What is the market like on a Tuesday? Bulk of reviews appear to be about Saturday shopping but will the availability of produce etc be the same on a Tuesday in February?

Farmers, sellers are usually out on Saturdays. There are shops or stores that are at Eastern Market year round, and restaurants.

Yes. More veggies, etc. regularly. Christmas market far more holiday-ish and crowded.

Hi,
If you're asking if there are restaurants that serve seafood, the answer is yes.
If you're asking if there are merchants/retail stores at Eastern Market who sell seafood, the answer is yes. They are:
Star Fish Seafood and Al's Fish Seafood & Chicken
If you go on Eastern Markets, you can see and download a map showing where all the various businesses are located. It's a great help.

If you go on Sunday, are there produce and flowers vendors in addition to the vendors selling their “goods”?
dolittledigger

When I went, there were just a few produce and I think maybe one flower vendor. I went on a Sunday but I think Saturday might be better.
