EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State rowing wrapped up its season today with an eighth-place showing at the Big Ten Championships. Competition kicked off at 9 a.m. in Indianapolis at Eagle Creek Park with the second novice eight race and concluded with the varsity eight race as the finale.
Ohio State took home the crown on the day with a total of 184 points, earning first place finishes in the varsity eight, novice eight, varsity four and second varsity four races. Michigan was in second with 174 points having won the second varsity eight race and the third varsity four.
The Spartans totaled 47 points, the highlight of the day being a fourth-place finish (7:22.103) in the varsity four race. The crew of coxswain

Morgan Jenzen finished ahead of Indiana's crew by over four seconds and were behind third-place Rutgers by less than one boat length.
The novices also raced well for the Green & White, with the novice eight crew earning a sixth place finish in 7:08.049. The second novice eight race saw Michigan State finish in fourth with a time of 7:18.326.
Two Spartans were named to the All-Big Ten team, with
Maya Elbaranes being named First Team and
Andrea Blanzy earning Second Team honors. Elbaranes was a Second Team selection last year, while Blanzy earns her first All-B1G nod.
Avery Rugg was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.
