Registration is still open for ELSC Recreational Soccer. For example the 3rd grade boys team-Blue with players from Glencairn and Marble is looking for a few additional players!

Congratulations to Will Robinson who was elected the new President of the ELSC at Monday night’s special board meeting. He is replacing Chris Fennell, who ended his term early to relocate out of state.

Will’s new position means there is an open seat on the ELSC board for Vice-President. Any parent or guardian of an ELSC soccer player is eligible to hold this position. As outlined in the ELSC bylaws, the Vice-President acts in the absence of the President and serves as a liais...on between the club committees and the Board.

ELSC also needs a Communications Director. This position is for someone able to update the club’s facebook page and website in a timely manner. This would be about 2-8 hours of work each season that can be done from your home.

Please email elsoccerclub@gmail.com if you are interested in either of these positions.

ELSC is a community driven operation, and we rely heavily upon parents and community members to coach and run the organization. Thank you to everyone for your contributions!

Lansing/Jackson Area Referees:

Today registration has opened up for new US Soccer certification of referees! As you know, we continue to seek new referees to become certified and officiate the wide variety of youth soccer matches in our community. All of us know at least one person who would be a good referee – I encourage you to reach out to your networks, especially to adults as we need more adult referees to cover a wider variety of matches! If we each can bring one per...son into our referee circle, we can make progress in covering all matches with a full crew in our community.

If you know anyone who is interested in becoming certified, please direct them to the following website to follow the registration wizard: https://www.michiganrefs.org/become-a-referee/

New referees must be 13 years old by the date of the class – we cannot override this requirement.

After completing the online modules noted in the registration wizard, the first of four currently scheduled Zoom classes is scheduled for Sunday, August 8, 2021.

Please feel free to direct questions on the certification classes to me. Thanks!

-Andrew

Sincerely,
Andrew Hoard
Lansing/Jackson District Director
