I know the ST album for Casino Royale has long been a holy grail disc thanks to TAS lists and what not. I'm sure it does sound really good.

I'm a big Dusty fan and the only version of "The Look of Love" I have is on her album of the same name.

To those who have both is it worth picking up a copy of Casino Royale? Is the version on the ST better sounding then the one on Dusty's album?

    Just curious. Thanks.

I just stumbled across mention of a 12" 33 1/3 and 45 version of this song. Anyone heard it?

Oh what the heck....that sounds like one I HAVE to track down.

There's a "dry" mix of the song, without all the reverb, on the Simply Dusty box set, is that the movie version, or just a different mix of the single version? The mono single version on The Complete A & B Sides has the reverb.

I have that song on the Rhino Bacharach box (coincidentally titled "The Look of Love"). I'd be interested to know how that stacks up to other versions.

I may have too look this up in Paul Howes The Complete Dusty Springfield book tonight, to see what version is on what album or CD.

Opps. Actually I'm only looking at vinyl for myself. But I wouldn't mind any information about CD versions for people who want 'em.

Reechie - If you can look up any info that would be great. I only have the one album so I'm not sure which version it is exactly. I wouldn't call it dry by any means tho'.

I have a 12" single with the movie soundtrack version of "The Look of Love" pressed at 45 rpm on one side and at 33 1/3 on the other. I believe it was put out by Classic Records about 1997/8 or so. It's a totally unique version for the film - a different version appeared on her own album (the one you have) and on subsequent CD reissues. I'm no expert on the CD issues, but I don't recall it ever being on CD. I'm sure there MUST be more of these 12" things floating around somewhere - and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg back then. The catalog # on the label reads CR-5005-12 if that helps. It's a great way to have this one song on vinyl. Happy hunting!

this is the movie version I do believe and its essential to have both IMO. can never have too much dusty or burt, so this is a pretty great box set as well.

I prefer the movie version(what a goofy and crazy movie that was) but the other version is pretty good too.Is it sonic perfection?Decide for yourself but I think HP hit a grand slam on this one.............

The soundtrack version and the single version are too completely different recordings. The soundtrack version was arranged and conducted by Burt Bacharach, while the single version was recorded in England. The single version has much more strings and an addititional chorus at the end. The soundtrack version is sparse and relatively dry. I prefer the fuller production on the single version, but Dusty's vocals on the soundtrack version are more mysterious and intimate.
