Slumming among the locals of a small New York town, Kelley Morse (Chris Klein), graduating senior at a posh prep school and all-around insufferable rich kid, engages the testosterone of one of the hicks (Josh Hartnett) when he flirts with the guy's girlfriend, Samantha (LeeLee Sobieski). A car chase ensues, resulting in Samantha's family's diner getting blown up, which in turn lands the boys in hot water with the law. The upshot is the snotty rich kid is sentenced to help the locals rebuild the diner. A romance develops between Kelley and Samantha, apparently because they like a particular Robert Frost poem. So now they're deep, see. But then their love is tested when Samantha contracts Ali MacGraw disease. You know, that's the sudden disease Ali McGraw gets in Love Story--really an excuse to emphasize the strength of the characters' love. You don't know what you got till it's gone, right? This film would be pretty bad if the performances weren't so engaging, especially LeeLee Sobieski's, who seems to be channeling Helen Hunt in this movie. Though Chris Klein never makes us believe for an instant that his arrogant character could make the changes he does, or that his and Sobieski's characters could ever really get together. The script is too thin to support any motivations, and the film falls into formula weepy territory to appeal to teen tear ducts. Lovers of weepies might overlook the film's plot weaknesses in favor of the strong performances and the prospect of a good cry. --Jim Gay

The movie gets another 5 star rating. Conflict ends with love. A seeminly insensitive, shallow, stuck-up young man is not as insensitive and shallow as he seems. There is a lot of philosophy which will make life more worth living and difficulties more worth enduring in the story. Yes, it is a story of love; but it is also a story of growing up and accepting things as they are and taking the good as it is offered. Losses are hard to deal with but must be endured. Love does not always come when or how it is expected. Respect can be earned. The ending is sad; but the love is really there. Decisions are made, some good and some bad; the last ones are the best ones. Though early decisions by both young men in this story are not so good; both make really good ones in the end. Two young men love and fight over the same girl. I wuld say they never get to really like each other; but they do really respect each other in the end. Both come to accept thier place in the girl's heart. The story is superb and the acting great. I really loved this movie. It was well worth seeing.

Me being a big fan of leelee I recently rented this and watched it.

Leelee did a great job and so did hartnett. The storyline was great but i didnt like the part where kelley ups and leaves at the end just to return a little later. If it were me I would of never of left. I would of stayed by her side till the very end. Leelee was a great actor and did her best to make it believable but Chris Klein hardly smiled at all when onscreen. Acting is where you make it believable but he hardly did that at all. If i were on the screen with her instead of Chris Klein I would talk more and smile a hell of alot more. I think the only reason why he got in this movie is because of his looks. His acting skills in this movie are well okay but it sucks in this kind of movie when he shows no emotion. Makes it kind of boring.

Only reason why I like this movie is cuz leelee is in it and she did a great job.

Come to small town USA and join in on the fun that goes from being from a family with lots of money but not really any family values to a family with not so much money but values Family above all else. If not for the Judge they may have never had the chance to get together. 2 young men struggle to keep the attn of a girl that is dating one of them and wanting the other. This is an easy to follow story line that still leaves you wondering where it will end up. You will enjoy how they get to where just maybe they should not have been trying to get. This is a movie that you will want to see again. I had seen it on TV and wanted to see it again but did not know the name of it. I am still wondering how it ever got the name "Here on Earth" but it is a Joy to see and it can be consider more of a chick flick but as a middle aged man that volunteered through the American Cancer Society I think I appreciated more than most. You will not go wrong with it and I bet you will want to watch it a few times to figure out what you might have missed along the way. I recommend it to people of most ages above the age of 8.

What I like about this story is that the young man never changes. He is who he is. He loves her and she loves him. This is the story of two young people who meet and live on the other side of town. They have an instant attraction despite other people who do not like their budding relationship. The young woman has a male best friend who cares deeply for her. He has a wealthy Father who expects him to attend Princeton College. They both just graduated High school. They are both young and have many emotional hurdles to get over but as this story evolves they do so nicely. Take a chance and enjoy a story that is so sweet. Many great actors and actresses help this story stand out. This movie is similar to A WALK TO REMEMBER but different enough to enjoy also. So enjoy!!
