I've been a Don Williams fan since his early LP days in the 70s. Unfortunately, my LPs have all sailed away to that scratchy dump heap to which nearly all LPs retire sooner or later. So imagine my surprise and pleasure when I found this "Definitive Collection" of some of Don's smoothest, mellowest, and most sensitively sung 70s and 80s hits. If you need to limit your Don Williams collection to one CD, this is the one to get. But if you have space for an additional Don CD--and want an even bigger surprise--try his newest: "Reflections." On that one, Don's now 75-year-old voice sounds exactly the same as it does on this collection of hits from the 70s and 80s!

The Gentle Giant continues to be a good nickname for Williams. His songs invariably have the gentleness, tenderness, love and decency that has nearly disappeared completely from today's music scene, country or otherwise, and that's unfortunate. They don't make'em like Don Williams anymore. Thank goodness they don't have to. We still have the original and he still sings as good as ever!
