Dame 7 vs D.O.N Issue #2

Recommendation Needed

Need help deciding which shoe to get. Price wise it's about the same. Some info about me: I'm a 6'2 forward 100kg. Usually end up defending 1-5 and rebounding a lot of the times but moving to a guard position after summer.

I know these shoes aren't built for someone like me but I need a replacement shoe for the next 2-3 months. Traction wise I just need something that's consistent and bites. Cushion wise impact protection is pretty important to me.

I've tried the dame 7s and they felt really good when i tried them but heard they bottom out really fast and lose impact protection. I've heard mixed reviews from both sides so what do you guys think is best for a bigger forward?

Edit: the dames are in the mismatched retro 3D glasses colourway whilst the dons are in the team usa colourway.

Dons because Bounce > Lightstrike.

honestly the Don issue 2s would be the more cost effective choice. the don has a pretty consistent bit, but i wouldnt say its aggressive by any means. on the other hand, the 7s have a good bite, but yes, lightstrike gets destroyed quick. honestly its up to you, they have their bad points and redeeming factors.

see what you want and just go for it.

True, might just decide based on what looks the best

D.O.N. issue #2 is an interesting fit. I like it more than the Dame 7s but it needs to fit your foot.

Dame 7, it is a solid shoe with maybe a tiny issue with heel slip

Adidas is making the Donovan Mitchell sneakers with a huge flex groove in the forefoot in precisely the spot where many people like to plant on their forefoot. I'm not a fan of this design personally because I believe it can affect stability. The flex groove is visible in both the Don 2 and 3. The thought behind this design is that it can create the sensation of falling forward because literally that portion of the shoe is hollowed out, it may make you feel faster if running in a straight line.

I'm interested if u/EfficientZone has any input

It's pretty close honestly.

I would go Dame 7 if cushioning is a priority. It's the more plush setup. If you're only looking for 3 months I wouldn't worry about bottoming out the same way if these were going to be used for a year.

I didn't know that it lasted that long, some people were saying it bottoms out after a few games and especially with my weight i thought it would've lasted even less

I was in the same dilemma and chose the don issue 2. I found the fit better for me. It pretty much comes down to fit and cushioning preference.

How is the Don issue 2 width wise? I have wide feet and was looking at these shoes. Also how are they outdoors?

Edited

They are pretty good outdoors. They handle hard impacts and movements very well and traction is good and durable. They feel kinda bulky/heavy as a shoe, but hey, you can't have it all especially at this price. Width wise for me it was the perfect fit, but i have normal to narrow feet. Fit was the deciding factor between these and the dame 7, so if you have wide feet you might wanna go for the dame's instead.

EDIT: (to elaborate about the sizing) I went true to my adidas size in both the dame 7 and the don 2 and the dame 7 are a bit roomier, especially in the upper toe area. But if i go half a size down in the dame 7 they feel small/don't fit me.
