Message from the Principal

  • John Welcome to Dobbs Ferry High School!

We are proud to share that we were recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2020 and that this is our twenty-third year of being authorized as an IB World School. DFHS is especially unique in that we are authorized in both the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) and IB Diploma Program (DP). As a high-performing IB World School, we are dedicated to maximizing the potential of all students by providing a curriculum that promotes a global perspective and international mindedness. Our academic program is further enhanced by the use of educational technology in that all students are provided with a Chromebook and all teachers utilize the full Google platform to enhance teaching and learning.

All students at DFHS fully access the IB MYP and complete an IB Personal Project during their sophomore year. The MYP Personal Project (PP) is the culminating experience of the IB MYP and draws upon the skills that our students develop in grades 6-10 to make a positive difference in a specific area of interest and need. The MYP Personal Project also serves as the foundation for service learning for all students in grades 9-12.

In addition, all students at DFHS continue to successfully access the IB Diploma Program and over 25% of our students pursue the full IB Diploma each year.  All students also enroll in at least two IB Diploma Program courses prior to graduation with an average of four IB DP courses per student. The IB program, coupled with elective options in areas such as science research, computer science, business, film, and art, enables our students to develop the necessary skills to be successful in college, the workforce, and beyond.

Our number one goal is for students to leave the building each day feeling that they have been challenged, engaged, and encouraged. Our numerous programs, along with an exceptional faculty and staff, allow us to achieve this goal. As always, please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
