      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Allegiant improves on previous entries in The Divergent Series on a few superficial levels, but they aren't enough to counteract a sense of growing boredom with a franchise that's gone on too long.

Emilliano Jr S The movie to TV spin off series might be better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review butterfly2507 this is even worse than the second one ... my god. how did they mess up SUCH a franchise? no wonder there's no actual last movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Lucy P The movie itself and the actors were fine and the movie made sense to someone watching with me who had not read the books yet. My issue was that this movie was not loyal to the book AT ALL. There were many differences with small details, as to be expected, however, there were also some very large differences in the plot, the most noticeable one being that (SPOILER ALERT) Tris, the main character, dies at the end of the book and DOES NOT die in the movie. This made me very angry😡. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. 👏😊 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/15/24 Full Review Wilber G Anticlimactic, pointless, when I was writing this review I was going to give it 2 stars but I decided it didn't deserve 2.Bad CGI, you can tell they ran out of money Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/24 Full Review Erral A This is the lowest rating I have ever given a movie. I loved the book and this separates from the book series entirely. Almost nothing is carried over, I really couldn't get past that fact. The story they replaced it with in this film was not the best. it had hollow and unresolved parts and just seemed like the director didn't care about the book at all. If you read the book i'd still say you could watch it but otherwise it is not that great. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Danae D I absolutely love this series and I hope they bring it back because I really wanted to see the ending and I really hope if they do bring it back tris DOESN'T DIE so four and tris can get their happily ever after!!!! Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint The series has seen a steady decline from the surprisingly palatable opener, Divergent, with its political metaphors so smoothly handled. It became clunkier with subsequent chapters... Aug 15, 2019 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Allegiant a tedious exercise in futility even fans of the series will have a hard time finding anything worthwhile to talk about once it comes to an end. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 11, 2016 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Chesapeake Family Magazine Allegiant manages to be profoundly confusing and almost entirely inert. The film's strong action sequences can't redeem a conflicting, irritating plot. Rated: 2/5 Aug 2, 2016 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast This is abysmal. The adaptation fundamentally misunderstands the source material, has terrible FX and an even worse Miles Teller performance. Worst of all, the film doesn't know how or when to use Woodley, who has always been the series' greatest asset Rated: 1/5 Sep 5, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Builds to a finale that feels less like the culmination of three films than a last-minute justification for another sequel in an overlong, unwanted franchise. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 18, 2022 Full Review Therese Lacson Nerdophiles The third installment of The Divergent Series shows a shiny new world that has become all too familiar to us and therefore delivers nothing new...
