How to Make a Reservation For Disneyland - Inside the Magic

Disneyland released a lot of information yesterday about their April 30 reopening procedures.  This included information about their reservation system, park hours, park hopping, and when Guests will be able to purchase tickets.

Here we break down everything that you need to know about buying Disneyland tickets and making your park reservation.

Purchasing your Disneyland Ticket

Guests will be able to buy their Disneyland tickets beginning on April 15, no earlier than 8 a.m. Pacific time.  When tickets are purchased at that time, a reservation is not automatically made.

Guests who had valid theme park tickets before the park closed last March do not need to purchase another ticket.

Here are your important dates to remember when wanting to purchase a Disneyland or California Adventure ticket.

• April 9: If you currently hold a theme park ticket, you can check available days for your 1-day ticket type beginning April 9 on Disneyland.com/ParksUpdates.
• April 12: The theme park reservation system will open no earlier than 8 a.m. PT on April 12 and guests who already have valid theme park tickets may begin making park reservations.
• April 15: Theme park ticket sales will resume no earlier than 8 a.m. PT on April 15, and guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations.

Theme park reservations will be able to be made up to 60 days in advance.

Accessing the Reservation System

Once Guests purchase their Disneyland ticket, they must link it to their Disneyland account.  If you do not have a Disneyland account, make sure you create one before purchasing your ticket.  That way you won’t have to worry about it when you purchase your ticket and go straight to making your reservation.

Once you have your park ticket, and it is linked to your account, you can begin making your Disneyland Park reservation!  Making your Disneyland reservation is a four-step process.

While Guests may be able to purchase a Disneyland ticket, it is important to remember that you may not be able to reserve the specific day that you want.  Disney notes:

Please note that park reservations are limited in number and subject to availability. Availability can change until the park reservation is finalized.

Guests can only make one park reservation per day, per Guest.

Creating Your Party

Once you have entered the reservation system, you must create your party.  There are some important things that Guests must be aware of when creating their party.  In order to follow California state guidelines, Disneyland has certain rules when it comes to parties.

Until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks and party size is limited to no more than 3 households, in line with current state guidelines. Proof of residency required.

When creating the party, the name of each person who will use each ticket must be entered.

Picking Your Park

Once you have purchased your tickets and created your party, you are ready to pick your park!  First, Guests can pick what day they would like to attend.  It is important to remember that your preferred day may not be available, so being flexible is your best bet.

Once you pick what day you would like to go to the parks, you pick which park you would like to visit. Guests with a Park Hopper option on their ticket will only need to pick which park they would like to visit to begin their day.

Guests who purchase multi-day tickets will need to make reservations for each day they will be going to a park.

Confirming Your Selection

This is the final step in booking your Disneyland reservation!  Before confirming your reservations, you will need to agree to the Terms & Conditions.  While Guests usually agree to normal Terms & Conditions while booking their Disneyland tickets, these new Terms & Conditions now include a Covid-19 Liability Waiver.

Below is the current Covid-19 Liability Waiver that Guests must agree to when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Once you have clicked “Confirm” to agree to the liability waiver, you must provide an email address.  Disney will use this email address to email the Guest their ticket confirmation, as well as a QR code.  Guests will present this QR code, each one will be unique to the Cast Member when entering the park.

Congratulations!  You have just made your Disneyland theme park reservation!

It is crucial that Guests know that, once made, theme park reservations CANNOT be modified.  According to Disney:

Theme park reservations cannot be modified, but can be cancelled by visiting My Theme Park Reservations. If you’d like to cancel an existing reservation and book a new one, please first check on the availability of reservations for your new desired date and/or park.

If you did not get the date that you wanted, all is not lost.  Disney has left itself open to creating park availability on a rolling basis.  They say:

To accommodate as many types of ticket holders as possible, park reservations for select dates may be made available on a rolling basis.

Park Hours

Currently, both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, according to Disney, these hours are subject to change.

Park Hours: Upon reopening, daily park hours for Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park are currently planned to be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visit Disneyland.com for operating hours on the day you wish to visit, as they are subject to change.

You can also go to the Disneyland Resort monthly events calendar to review the hours for Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, as well as Downtown Disney.

Park Hopping

Guests who have purchased a Park Hopper ticket will be able to go from one park to another in one day, but only beginning at 1 p.m. the day of their ticket.  With a park hopper, Guests will reserve which park they would like to start their day in.  Then, anytime after 1 p.m., they may head to the other park.

According to Disney:

Guests who purchase or have a Park Hopper ticket and an appropriate park reservation may visit the second park on the same day beginning at 1 PM. Please check the Park Hours calendar and the Disneyland app for the most up-to-date Park Hopper hours, as they could start earlier at a later date, depending on the day and park. Guests with Park Hopper tickets must make a park reservation for the first park they plan to visit AND enter that first park prior to visiting the other park. At this time, a park reservation is not required after the first park, however, reservation requirements are subject to change. Please note that the ability to visit the other park will be subject to that park’s capacity limitations.
