Maria Grazia Chiuri has just presented the Dior Ready-To-Wear Fall 2024 collection in New York. Here’s what went down.
On 15 April, Dior and Maria Grazia Chiuri took its latest collection presentation from charming Paris to alluring New York. Meant to celebrate the cultures of both cities, the Ready-To-Wear Fall 2024 show was an allusion to possibilities. The collection sought to enforce the notion of freedom in the way one dresses. The ensemble is a magical tribute to the Big Apple, another important fashion capital of the world. Alongside Paris, of course.
For the Dior Ready-To-Wear Fall 2024 collection, the Maison also paid homage to the legendary Marlene Dietrich. The screen icon has always been a beacon of style when it comes to having power over what you wear. Think below-the-knee pencil skirts with a jacket or sleeveless vest. Throughout the Ready-To-Wear Fall 2024 show at the Brooklyn Museum, models appeared in light dresses that gave way to a fairy-like silhouette.
Crushed velvet, quilted nylon and hammered satin all intertwined in an ensemble reminiscent of the 1940s. The cannage motif, a DNA dear to the Maison, can be seen on the likes of lace-encrusted slip dresses whereas knitwear, lace collars and embroidery all highlighted Dior’s signature legacy. There’s a fun element in the designs — with an almost completely black and white palette — that fuses seamlessly with functionality, timelessness and wearability.
The Dior Ready-To-Wear Fall 2024 show in New York was attended by a plethora of stars. They include Alexandria Daddario, Alexandra Shipp, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlize Theron, Diane Kruger, Haerin of NewJeans, Karlie Kloss, Michelle Williams, Naomi Watts, Rachel Zegler, Rosamund Pike and Tony Yu.
