Dilshad Vadsaria - About

Dilshad Vadsaria is a writer, director, and actor based in Los Angeles, CA. After immigrating with her family to the US, Dilshad's school years were marked by several moves to various parts of the country. This geographical shuffling actually helped Dilshad form a deep sensitivity to the human spirit. Her observations led her to spend a great deal of time reading, watching more television than should ever be allowed, and living in her imagination - all tell-tale signs of a budding storyteller.

Dilshad recently made her writing and directorial debut with her female driven short film, BETI ("daughter").

BETI is a story about loss, grief, and acceptance. It follows the journey of Neha, a young woman who has just lost her mother with whom she shared a pained, complicated relationship marred by generational trauma. Suddenly faced with a lifetime of unanswered questions and unfulfilled needs, Neha comes to understand that though her mother fell short in many ways, her love was always pure, and she truly did do the best she could under the circumstances. The film is currently making rounds in the festival circuit.

Dilshad began her professional acting career portraying the memorable character of Rebecca Logan in the hit ABC Family series, GREEK. The show ran for four critically acclaimed seasons and was the first leading role of her television career.

In MARVEL'S CLOAK AND DAGGER, Dilshad's character's life took an unexpected turn into the dangerous world of sex-trafficking. In Sony Crackle's hit show THE OATH, produced by 50 Cent and created by Joe Halpin, Dilshad played a leader of an organized crime ring.

Dilshad had a recurring role on the ABC legal drama, NOTORIOUS. Inspired by the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker, the series took a provocative look at the unique, sexy, and dangerous interplay of criminal law and the media. Dilshad portrayed Sarah Keaton, the victim of a horrible crime who has a complicated past with Jake, played by Daniel Sunjata.

Dilshad starred in the FOX drama, SECOND CHANCE, a modern reimagining of the Mary Shelley classic Frankenstein. In the series, a disgraced 75-year-old ex-sheriff, whose life ends at the hands of corrupt cops in his son's home (Tim DeKay), is brought back to life by a pair of young tech scientists (Vadsaria & Adhir Kalyan) and given a second chance as a 35-year-old with unpredictable near-superhuman abilities (Rob Kazinsky). The show, from executive producer/writer Rand Ravich and executive producer Howard Gordon, ran for one season.

Dilshad has guest starred on shows such as CASTLE, FAKING IT, NCIS, and CSI: MIAMI. She recurred opposite Taye Diggs on the TNT drama, MURDER IN THE FIRST, from executive producer Steven Bochco, and reprised her role as 'Padme Booth', in the FOX series BONES 11th season premiere. Dilshad portrayed financial analyst Padma Lahari on the ABC drama, REVENGE. Over the course of the show's second season, her work association with Nolan, played by Gabriel Mann, eventually grew from a trusted confidante into a loving relationship. Keeping in line with the exciting and suspenseful nature of the show, Padma met her untimely and shocking demise; a result of sacrifices she made for those she loved most.

Combining her passion for books and storytelling with her passion for gender equality and the rights of girls and women to an education, Dilshad is a proud Active for Education Ambassador for Room to Read, an organization which has impacted over 16 million children internationally through literacy and girls' education programs.

Dilshad recently lent her voice to SHE CREATES CHANGE, a first-of-its-kind animated docu-series by Room to Read and award-winning creative studio Nexus Studios. She Creates Change highlights the stories of six courageous teenage girls from around the world climbing their own mountains to achieve their impossible personal feats. The project was a 2023 TRIBECA X OFFICIAL SELECTION.
