I was scared the actor who plays Grogu would have grown up too much for the storyline but he seems to be aging perfectly
Still doesn't look a day over 50. Very impressive.
Let's see Paul Allen's Grogu.
Your compliment was sufficient, Luis.
Pale Nimbus.

its a joke
Are we going to get 3 episodes of Boba?
gawd, I hope not. BoBF was a tall cup of summer trash juice.
Yet the Boba episode of Mando was an insane hour of badass.
I haven't seen any other 'Star wars' universe show other than Mandalorian due to reviews and reading around on reddit. Mandalorian was really great, but the others seem to be very disliked. Are they worth getting into? Bobba Fett and Kenobi that is.

Boba Fett was weird and slow. Aside from the mandalorian episodes, you're not missing much by skipping it.
Kenobi is absolutely worth watching.
As a fan of The Clone Wars series I’m loving the crossing over of stories digging into the deeper lore. Mandalorian has been amongst Star Wars best.
as an old school fan who knows next to nothing about the animated series', I enjoy Mando for the way it represents the Star Wars that I fell in love with 35 years ago, but god damn does a ton of other stuff just fly right over my head.
When I watch the series now, if I see something cool but unfamiliar, or a character that I don't recognize but clearly has already been established elsewhere, I just assume it's from the animated series'.
edit: I still love and watch animated films and shows all the time. I began to lose interest in Star Wars between AOTC and ROTS due to the(prequels) poor representation of what the franchise meant to me, as many others did, and also due to developing other interests in life including other sci fi and fantasy franchises.
Yeah, I don't need the references to the other Star Wars media or even the films necessarily; Mando is at its best when it's being its own story rather than trying to fill in the gaps of others -- which is why it's better than the Boba Fett and Obi-Wan shows imho. I love that it's not afraid to take an episode off of the overarching arc to show us a cool job he's on or whatever.
this is why season 1 > season 2
hopefully it goes back in that direction instead of trying to turn every other episode into a backdoor pilot for some other D+ star wars show
Yeah honestly the reappearance of Boba Fett and a digitally de-aged mark Hamill killed any interest I had in the show
Star wars is supposed to be about a big galaxy, not everything needs to be space cheers with cameos of random side characters.
Even if you aren't a fan of the animated series, I definitely recommend watching Clone Wars and Rebels. Some great stories in there. Don't let the terrible Clone Wars movie put you off it. It's gets light years better.
Ahsoka gets better too.
She was purposefully an annoying brat at the start, so she had a character arc of learning and settling into the role of Jedi she has now.
She's the textbook definition of building up a strong character, and became popular enough to jump into live action and get her own show. Which is frankly amazing.
So was Luke. Movie just don't have the run time to properly develope characters.
Ahsoka is probably the best developed character in all of Star Wars right now. Her adolescent maturity was depicted across the Clone Wars while further character growth is shown in Rebels and the D+ series. Further her character is informed by much of the same creator so there isn't major issues with character changes. In clone wars specifically, all the movie characters are limited in growth by their appearance in the bookending movies. Anakin can only grow so much as determined where episode 2 ended and episode 3 begins same for everyone else. Further if you take the number of lines spoken by every character in all the movies and series, I'd suspect she would have the most lines just because she appears primarily in series.
She’s no Jedi
I couldn’t get through rebels. Way to Saturday morning cartoon for 7 years old. Because that’s what it i I s!
Last season they realized their mistake and went back to more mature storytelling. Basically Disney relived history doing what s1/s2 Clone Wars did but didn't get more seasons to keep going.
At the start, yes. But so was TCW. The emotions ramp up along with the stakes.
The first season is, but the first two seasons of Clone Wars was too and that show developed into one of the best Star Wars products made.
Rebels has some of the best story telling, especially in seasons three and four.
First 2 seasons of clone wars and rebels are a bit fluffy, but seasons 3 and on their is a solid story there with good character growth.
As others have already stated in your replies, you should really give it another shot. The series just gets better and better. There are a few episodes that are very childish, but the overarching theme is actually very dark. It's an intriguing and quite adult series, wrapped in a style of animation that is designed to appeal to younger audiences. It's not perfect, and its skin may be ugly and unappealing, but its bones are of strong Star Wars stuff.
its by far not the ideal viewing experience but the last 4 eps of clone wars are the best star wars that exists IMO. They take up about a regular movie of time 1-1.5 hours and its about Mandalore. For sure worth, made bawl like a baby so while i recommend Clone Wars as a whole I have shown friends who feel similar to you the last 4 eps and they gone on the watch the series. (or at least the interesting arcs since the stories can be picked through.
100% this. I watched from start to finish and was emotionally drained after the final scene. Vader hits harder for me now in everything else.
Watch Rebels. That Ahsoka/Vader Twilight of the Apprentice fight ...
If you don't like watching cartoons, people have made short lists of the most important stuff in TCW. You can just Google 'tcw most important episodes'. Alot of the episodes are just Saturday morning filler and can be skipped. Especially the early seasons. It's harder to do that with rebels though, because the show plays out more like a drama.
There really is some amazing stuff in those shows though, I had to get past the fact that they were cartoons as well. Just ignore resistance, that show is terrible. I watched it, and it didn't add enough to the universe to justify putting up with all the corny bs in it.
I went from utterly adoring IV, V, VI, Caravan of Courage and Ewok Adventure - so much so that in High School I skipped school to see Episode One in theaters, and it had almost none of the things I loved as a kid. Two was worse. I wasn't invested anymore and I didn't give much of a crap.
Fast forward a bunch and my daughter's growing up to love sci fi. So of course we watch the original three. And when Mando comes out, and Obi Wan, we watched the first three.
Mandalorian brought back EVERYTHING I loved about Star Wars a kid; and almost everything I love about Firefly and as an adult. And then you give me the icing on the cake that's Bill Fuckin Burr and Katee Sackhoff?!
I'm giddy again.
And I haven't even seen the trailer. Waiting until pancakes tomorrow with my kid.
If you want to check out the animated stuff, the first one that hooked me was Bad Batch. You'll be a little out of order if you want to watch them all, but it still might be a good starting point.
There is also a condensed version of clone wars which removes all the filler episodes. I suggest that instead.
Wait till you fall in love with Anakin and Ashoka you won't regret it
I don't even like Star Wars, but I love this series, I can tell that I'm definitely missing out on a lot of the crossing over of stories.
It has so many ties to existing extended lore for the fans and yet the other day I was recommending it over Obi-Wan to someone who said they were not really a Star Wars fan.
Mandalore. Yes, please.
Mandalore in my mandolorian show? Preposterous!
I'm still not a fan of Grogu coming back in The Book of Boba Fett, just undoes the whole goal of seasons 1 & 2 of the Mandalorian.
I didnt watch Book of Boba, so this trailer confused the shit out of me.
They dedicated 2 episodes to Mando, which was a hilarious twist because for anyone watching they realized how boring the show was for Boba.
He wanted to make an honorable criminal empire but it was just really cookie cutter.
do you think I could just watch those 2 episodes for the lore and not be too confused?
It's actually 3, the last episode focuses on Boba's fight but there is some important character development for Grogu that shouldn't be missed.
Book of boba fett? Do you mean Mandalorian season 2.5?
Don't you dare sully the name of the Mandalorian with that average TV show.
I dunno, man. 7 episodes. 2 of which were devoted almost entirely to Din, and he played a large part in the last ep.
I actually enjoyed it, but it really felt like the devoted way too much to mando. They really should have either pushed for 9 - 10 eps to actually expand on what could have been good plots, or condensed it down to 4.
I liked Boba Fett enough. But I feel like they got halfway through their scripts or into production and just had a collective, “oh fuck, this really doesn’t work. Hey Pedro, you got some time off from The Last of Us that you can come do a week or two of work?”
You kept watching after the first 3 episodes?
"Average" is already praise for that debacle of a show
Gotta get that sweet baby yoda merch money
Not to mention the return of Babu Frik.
Not gonna lie, I was kinda stoked to see Babu back. That goofy little muppet was a highlight amongst very few in that whole movie
Such a cheap way out to sell more merch. Plus guts any impact the Season 2 finale had.
Agreed. I think it was both merch and fear that grogu was why people liked the show.
100% the incredible and emotional finale of season 2… and all of season 2 tbh, was kind of undone.
They could have done it in a lore sensible way too. Ghetto summary:
Luke: hey yeah Jedi aren't supposed to love or hold attachment
Grogu: -Jedi powers really weak because not with Mando-
Luke: oh shit this changes everything and explains why my father was so powerful. Shit I better call Mando and have him train Grogu while they go on adventures
Bruh, pls.
Grogu was faced with a situation of friends vs duty to training. Sound familiar? Luke made the decision to save his friends over the completion of his training in Empire. And that's what made Luke the strongest Jedi in history. (Until they ruined it)
Yeah I really like that Luke gave Grogu the choice that his father never had. Forcing Anakin to separate from his mother that way I feel was the first thread to his decent.
I think I can see him going back to Luke with a better acknowledgement by Luke that his attachment to Mando is ok, just as his was.
I suspect we'll see Luke get to that spot.
And then just not mention grogu ever in the rest of his life?
i think the message ur painting is not a very good one.
the canon version gives grogu full control over his future. its his choice to decide how he wants to live his life, even if the choice he makes is less logical but makes him overall more happy
your version says "u can choose to stay with me, or go with your buddy, but you don't rly have a choice becuz staying with me literally wont work since u'll be nerfed/weaker"
The funny thing is that in legends Luke was very much over the whole "dont form attachments" thing (to the point he encouraged them in the new order he formed), pointing out it was his attachments what got him through it all. Could've just have him acknowledge it.
Okay, that's why I was confused. I swore he literally left with Luke at the end of last season.
Star Wars has always been about feeding the fans too much of whatever they liked earlier. Look at Lucas bringing back Boba Fett for ROTJ, and then pretending he had him in mind the whole time as the clone for every stormtrooper.
I also saw this tweet yesterday which sums it all up:
Disney is no longer about creating new things you’ll love; it’s about creating things that remind you of things you already love.
I'm sure it'll never come back ever, I mean how long can those thing live anyway? and the actor playing it will retire some day.
I really didn't like the whole "sopranos in space" premise so didn't watch any of the the Boba Fett series...now I guess I'll have to just to know how the hell Grogu came back...
It didn't make sense to me either considering Mando was coping with empty nest syndrome by trading in his dumpy but useful minivan for a impractical sporty roadster
Where are the groceries gonna go Mando? Did you think about that for a second?
Disney sent over someone with a gun to stare at Jon Favreau until he brought the merchandising opportunity back.
if he had stayed, he would have just eventually been murdered by Kylo Ren.
But think of the marketing opportunities
I mean you just knew when they let Dave Filoni put Bo-Katan in the show, shit was going to go pretty far off the rails into his lore sooner rather than later.
"REMEMBER A CARTOON FROM 2006????? THIS VILLAIN HAD A COWBOY HAT AND SO DO I"
Cad Bane? That dude broke into the Jedi academy archives, and stole a holocron. Let’s not discount Cad.
Honestly, if they made a Cad Bane series that was just went full tilt into Star Wars influences I’d watch the shit out of it.
You see it as going off the rails?
Baby Yoda, you’ve got a stew going
wait, we've only had two seasons so far? Why does it seem like I watched a third already?
Because you may have seen The Book of Boba Fett
No, I definitely saw The Book of Boba Fett.
I'll never forget that vespa chase scene. What the fuck.
Well there you have it
The best part of boba fett was everything with Mando in it
That drug lizard tree episode was great. Train heist also good.
The best part of Boba Fett was Cad Bane, a character who was always meh in TCW but perfectly fitting in Boba.
The Mando parts in Boba were...well, they kinda actively took away from the actual Mandalorian show.
It wasn't just the chase scene.... it was the fact they everything else is gritty, except for these brightly colored vespas that the street teens can afford, but apparently they can't afford water.
It makes no sense in context or environment.
Fucking Spy Kids Rodriguez shit
I think I actually said “what the fuck” out loud during that scene. And I’m Swedish!
That's weird, I remember shouting "vad fan" during that scene and I'm English
