Naglalaro kami ng badminton sa PowerUp sa tapat ng ABS sa Mother Ignacia. Regular si Piolo dun every Sunday before ng pandemic, not sure now. Game face siya habang nagtitraining, pero after or in between breaks mabait siya nagpapapicture. May dalawang mga tita dati naglaro dun, from the province sila at uuwi na the next day pinagbigyan niya ng papicture kahit pagod. And nung b-day ng trainer niy, binilhan niya tig-isang bucket ng chicken bawat group na andun na nanglalaro that time.
Nakalaro din namin si Janno Gibbs dun. Akala namin nung una suplado kasi nakasimangot palagi. Nagtitraining din kasama ng trainer niya, pero siya mismo lumapit sa amin ang nag-invite para maglaro ng doubles. Serious nga sa laro, pero after ng game nag small talk and nagpasalamat. Naappreciate talaga namin.
I just want to add regarding kay Piolo, and also to echo yung sentiments ng ibang posts about requesting pictures with artists - you have to respect the artist, their time and place ng paghihingi ng pics. In the case of Piolo, everyone there understands that he goes there to train and play (seriously) so walang ambush requests talaga. Basic etiquette as fellow players din. I would expect na susungitan niya rin kung out of place yung paghingi ng pic especially if he 's in the middle of playing (though never ko nakita dun kasi everyone respects his game time). Even yung titas na namention ko hinintay nila talaga matapos si Piolo bago inapproach.

My personal experience was with Pokwang, while I was a producer at ABS. For 3 weeks straight, nag-yes siya sa shoot 3 times, pero twice di sumipot. The 3rd time, minalas pa kami dahil that was the day Willie Revillame challenged ABS-CBN to fire Jobert Sucaldito.
So, Pokwang came to the shoot shouting, "Nako naloloka Lolo mo. Bilis-bilisan natin dahil bigla-bigla nun ako tatawagin." This she said in her usual "maldita" persona. Kaya nag-paspas na talaga kami. Pero, a third of the way through, she stops the cameras and says to me "Kung di ka ngingiti, wag na natin ituloy 'to."
Huh? Joke ba 'to? I waited for her to laugh, pero seryoso talaga siya. When my fellow producers took over, she kept bullying me to smile. Parang dapat ata magalang ako dahil producer ako and as an artista, she's higher than me in the ABS hierarchy. E by that time, 3 Sabado na kaming walang day-off dahil yes siya ng yes pero di pala siya magpapakita. Who'd be in the mood to smile? Sa sobrang miserable ko, nasa sulok nalang ako, nagpupunit ng script.
Finally, nung natapos yung shoot, she and her PA walked away saying, "Makakarating 'to kay Jeff (my boss). Akala mo di kita isusumbong?" Hanggang ngayon, di ko alam kung anong sumanib sa akin. Sabi ng co-producers ko, sinabi ko raw, "Sige, isumbong mo!!! Go!!!" Hanggang ngayon-- gusto ko mang maalala yun if only I could pat myself on the back for standing up for myself-- wala akong maalala mula sa mga minutes na yun. 😅
