George Harrison’s son marries former model

The 33-year-old son of George Harrison marries his longterm girlfriend in a surprise ceremony over the weekend.

Man, it feels good to be a child of one of the Beatles.

The spitting image of his father George Harrison, Dhani Harrison wed his longtime girlfriend Sólveig Káradóttir over the weekend. Káradóttir is a former model who is now a psychologist.

The couple was married on the Harrison family estate in Henley-on-Thames in Southern England.

According to the local paper the Henley Standard, 33-year-old Harrison and his bride’s wedding was attended by both remaining Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as stars Tom Hanks and Clive Owen.

The estate was purchased by Harrison and Dhani’s mother Olivia, his second wife, in 1970.

McCartney’s daughter Stella also reportedly designed the bride’s gown. Káradóttir and Harrison’s mother had attended Paul McCartney’s wedding to Nancy Shevell back in October. There is no word if Stella was in attendance at the England wedding.

Dhani’s father George Harrison passed away in 2001 after a battle with lung cancer.

In October, McCartney and Starr had played a benefit to honor the life of George Harrison for the premiere of Martin Scorsese’s George Harrison: Living in the Material World.

The movie was released only for one night, and included clips from Harrison’s life. It featured interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Harrison’s widow Olivia.

“Everytime I see something to do with George it brings back more memories than you would believe,” McCartney said at the premiere.

It makes sense then that McCartney keeps in touch with Harrison’s son.

According to E! News, “Dhani helped finish his father’s final album, Brainwashed, before striking out on his own as a musician, collaborating with the likes of Jakob Dylan and forming his own band thenewno2 and more recently Fistful of Mercy with Ben Harper.”

Káradóttir is the daughter of an Icelandic neurologist. Harrison and Káradóttir currently live in Los Angeles.
