Bears 7, Lions 0 (9:23 1st)

Pregame

The Lions return to Ford Field on Sunday afternoon in an NFC North showdown, hosting the Chicago Bears (3-7). Detroit has won two straight after a disastrous showing in Baltimore and still sits atop the North. The Bears are still in last place in the division, though they've won three of their last five.

The Lions' latest victory was a thrilling shootout on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. While quarterback Justin Herbert made the secondary look like Swiss cheese, Jared Goff and the offense just kept scoring. Detroit's quarterback finished with 333 yards and two touchdowns. Star wide receiver Among-Ra St. Brown posted yet another 100-plus yard game, gaining 156 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The ground game was also a major factor, with the offensive line punishing the Chargers' defensive line all afternoon. Running back David Montgomery rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown in his first game back from injury, highlighted by a 75-yard rush to the end zone. Rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs continued to impress after a breakout game the week prior, notching 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The victory also featured some stellar play calling from head coach Dan Campbell. Detroit had five fourth-down attempts Sunday, successfully converting four times. Perhaps the gutsiest call of the afternoon came in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter. Featuring a fourth-and-2 in field goal range with just under two minutes left, Campbell elected to go for it, refusing to give Herbert and a potent Los Angeles offense another shot with the ball. It worked. Kicker Riley Patterson nailed a 41-yard field goal as time expired and the Lions returned to Michigan on a two-game winning streak.

Quarterback Justin Fields is expected to start Sunday after suffering a dislocated thumb in week six and missing four straight games. Detroit's defense has struggled with mobile quarterbacks this season (see: Geno Smith and Lamar Jackson), so Fields' return could cause some trouble for a unit that struggled mightily a week ago.
