The school staff is very lenient, which I see as a good thing. Not too strict, not too nice. The sports are okay. However, some of the coaches for PE move on a little too quickly. A lot of times, in most of my classes back then, when I didn't understand something so I asked for more details, I didn't get anything from the staff. They either ignored/didn't hear me or they told me to ask my classmates. I asked my classmates and they were the only people there who gave me some kind of help. Here's a positive: The school allows students to finish their lunch/breakfast if they were busy or something and give the students a pass so they are excused when they get to class. I find that helpful. There is a very large amount of hate between the students. I don't think it's the schools fault. No, I think it's the students themselves. I had a tough time fitting in myself. Luckily, me and my sister went to the school together. So many sports! It's nice that clubs can be during lunch/after school!
De Portola was a good school, but starting at 9 in the morning and ending at 4 was not good. The teachers were good, while the staff was okay. Student clubs exist, but aren’t prominent, and sports don’t really exist outside of PE. Little to no college readiness.
Student life is very intriguing. Many friends from elementary went to this middle school. Consequently, I preserved previous friendships while also making new ones.
